He thought they were untouchable in their youthful, perfect love. They get married they, they have their baby, who's also so beautiful, this perfect, innocent creature, a living result of their combined love. He was naive for thinking this perfect family they created was free from any outside sources getting in and destroying or poisoning this pure love they have. Youth and inexperience of the darkness in the world. Just before having it all ripped away and the beautiful woman he lived for taken and tainted, and ruined, like the view of a world that once seemed promising and once the things he loved were taken from him all things went dark and all joy was sucked out of life. He turned to someone he didn't know possible of turning into. His despair blinds him and instead of trying to find ways to keep going he gives into it becoming what he is seeking vengeance against. Becoming the thing that soiled his whole world. Then even a new young man finding beauty in life and good he nearly poisons the same way. The cycle of wanting all to be as miserable as he's become coz if he can't have it back, why should anyone else.

I think it's a cautionary on how we can be foolish to think a perfect love can't fall apart, when they've yet to experience the world fully and how darkness can seep in. Especially if wealthy, well connected jealous person decides they want what you have, they can ruin and turn your world upside down even if the purest perfect love was real. That one can become what they hated too. Unless you don't give into despair. Be grateful for the things you still have (a beautiful daughter alive) he ends up fighting for all wrong reasons. When he realizes this it's too late- and he ends up destroying the definition of what he lived for.
