    I have given up trying to produce a good sound. I have been very fortunate in having some of the best instruments and mouthpieces at my disposal including, Zephr, Yamaha, Buescher, Conn , Selmer , Keilwerth , Courton etc etc and all that I have been able to produce is the Bombay Taxi Horn sound. So I have decided to concentrate exclusively on subtone playing. I have mastered the classical subtone with double lip embouchure as well as with the single lip embouchure on tenor and alto. I now intensely desire to be able to play jszz subtone on tenor and alto. Please do help me find suitable instructions or tutorials or pdfs or videos etc etc.
    Thanking you,

    I really like your teaching method, and your way of explaining things, but it would be so much better. If you would occasionally show yourself, how things are done.
    Fulvio

    Do you have a video detailing the method or methods of producing the jazz subtone with single lip and double lip embouchure?

    • @Saxcomprehensive

      Hi. There is a long video called saxophone tone. It briefly mentions subtone at 8:00 mins in but also has some other good ideas about creating a good tone overall. Thanks.

    great video, if i play the moutpiece alone (tenor) i get concert eb to f , from your explanation, i thing the reed is too soft. thanks

    • @Saxcomprehensive
      @Saxcomprehensive  9 месяцев назад

      Hi. Playing the mouthpiece alone (tenor) should give a G pitch. So if you get another pitch maybe your embouchure is too tight or too loose producing a different pitch. However, this is a generalisation since depending on the design of the mouthpiece, it could have a different mouthpiece pitch like a F. The strength of the reed can also affect the pitch if it is too soft or too hard for you. It is possible to play a scale on the mouthpiece alone so it is a matter of remembering the correct position of the embouchure for the pitch you want to produce in order to produce the best sounding note. I suggest that you work with the exercises that you think are helping and ignore the others. The main thing that matters is that we produce the correct pitch on the fully assembled saxophone. Thanks

      Hi. Thanks for the comment especially since you do not play the saxophone. It's an expensive hobby and time consuming. Thanks for watching.

    great video! does this apply to clarinet as well?

    • @Saxcomprehensive
      @Saxcomprehensive  2 года назад

      Hi. Yes it applies to the clarinet. However the 'reed on the mouthpiece patch' exercise may not work since the angle of holding the clarinet is different from the saxophone. Thanks for the comment.
