  • We made our own #speaker stands using a standing desk frame and parts we had laying around, and here's how you can do it too!

    The author says "fix the top plate to the base", which appears to indicate mounting the speaker stands to the *bottom* of the desk legs, using the desk *upside-down*. Also, it looks like a dual-motor standing desk, which means each leg has its own motor.

    when will you do a more detailed Video about it? It would be cool if I can have also my 65' TV Monitor on a small shelf together with my big heavy Genelec 8361's. So I can lift them up and down together if I want to stand or sit down.. but of course the whole thing would have to be well decoupled without reflections that negatively affect the sound neither from the TV monitor nor from the small shelf or the electric legs

    Very cool indeed! This is exactly what I'll be needing. I was racking my brain trying to figure out how beat to build automated height adjustable stands for my new standing desk, as I can no longer sit for long periods, and this is the perfect, common sense approach!
    Thank you so much!

    What kind of difference does it make to the frequency response?

      What Wayne said - it depends on your room, how high your ceiling is, what is at the first reflection points in each position. In the case of our room, it's made no noticeable difference whatsoever

    Flopcat unit needs to be an international and official unit.
    I couldn't buy those stands, I'm afraid I would find myself going up and down half the day and I'm probably 1-2 flopcat units too heavy.

    This is also exactly what I've been trying to figure out how to do! Please do a detailed video ASAP! Did you need to get longer cables to control both of them with so much distance between them?

  • @ricochetmz
    @ricochetmz Год назад

    This is a clever idea! But if you need to place your speakers more than 3 ft apart, how do you connect both legs to the power unit? Maybe my standing desk is different from yours, but both of my motorized legs only have a short run of cable to the power unit (which is what the control box also connects to via Ethernet) and those connections from the legs to the power unit are some kind of six square head connector that I’m not familiar with, so I’m not sure if it can support longer runs to the legs 😖

    • @PresentDayProduction
      @PresentDayProduction  Год назад

      They're called Molex connectors, and you can get extensions (or you can cut the cable and make your own)

    I want to do this project but I’m so confused! How do the left and right legs stand up independently without the middle support beam? Are they coupled together and have to be a certain distance apart or are they independent? Did you have to order the Flexi desk with the table top or can you just get the motorized system? Could you please do a little more detailed video on the build. Brilliant idea just a little more info please. Thank you for everything you guys do!

    Brilliant! Really like this idea :) .... could also be used to pop up the 50" TV from behind the 3x24" monitors so you can watch the big game or playback the movie, and drop it back down afterwards so you can look out the window at the passing birds :D

  • @CheapoCardCompany
    @CheapoCardCompany 2 года назад +1

    You could call this the ‘Parliament Motion System’... as it requires the ‘speaker’ to rise up and settle back down, with each new one proposed.
    Might you advise a blob of blutack under each monitor, if you’re going to whiz them around a lot?
    Could this form the basis of a mechanical solution for those of us (just me..?) who have trouble discerning binaural ‘height’ effects?

    Hey guys - has anyone ever experimented with monitor suspension instead of placement.
    I wonder if the stretching of a thing (rubber or such) would be entirely different to the compression of similar.
    To that end a motorized gimble with (say) four wires/rods/whatever connected to the top of a speaker via some "stuff" (rubber??) would be better and less transmissive than other ways.
    The cool part would be programmable gimble settings for direction and tilt - Standing, Sitting, Flop Cats Fav ... etc
    Whaddyarekkon?

      Try a vesa TV mounting plate screwed to the top of the legs (you might need to drill a few holes) with a paving slab on top:
