What’s the GX?
Think of the GX almost as a 4Runner that went to finishing school
In the past in other countries, LC Prado
And NOW with the LC coming back to the US
It’s basically a ritzed up Land Cruiser
It’s got a history of rugged dependability and offroad capability
What’s new for 2024?
A LOT
New chassis
New generation of engine….s
Totally new looks inside and out
So…all of it…everything is new
Engine
1 engine on offer…at least for now
3.4TT V6…pretty familiar, came out in Tundra
349 hp (50 more than the old V8)
479 lbft (over 100 more lbft)
Mpg 15 city, 21 highway - 19 comb
2 better than the V8 so not a huge gain
But loads more power and torque so win
BUUTTTT there’s a possibility of a hybrid coming later
Driveline
10 speed auto…again familiar
Full time 4WD though, something we ding the Yotas for
4wd std
Center diff locks
Rear diff can lock…depending on trim
Chassis
New F chassis…400 lbs lighter…big deal
But this still ends up being about 400 lbs heavier than the old truck
Styling
Arguably the best part of the car
The rest of it is pretty typical Lexus
But the styling looks so special
Classic boxy proportions…love it
The overtrail in al the press kits is the ideal spec
The sand color paint and offroad tires
That paint is only for overtrail
18 in wheels, 33 in tires…so bigger than tundra TRD Pro
Also real skidplate
Towing
One of the big benefits of all that extra power
And stronger frame
Is towing is up just over 9000 lbs
Pretty amazing
Tow hitch is standard
Trunk
No more swing gate

Separate glass opening
This or 4runner glass
Load floor is super high

Wish steering wheel came out another 2 inches
Wind noise is a thing
Visibility is great

defender might be better
Land Cruiser will only come with hybrid 4 cylinder

The look is the most interesting thing about the experience
