I didn't get my diagnosis until I finished college. I always thought I was better off pushing myself to succeed instead of having autism as an excuse to fail. I never considered that I would have had more resources available with a diagnosis. Hell, even just knowing why I was having problem would have allowed me to help myself. Thanks for the info Joe!

I keep hearing about how girls were not getting diagnosed until around 2010. Yet Temple Grandin is in her 70s and was diagnosed long ago. So I can see how females were being overlooked, undiagnosed, misdiagnosed ect, yet were they completely overlooked? Can someone explaine this to me?

Andrea that is an interesting topic - I am not exactly sure of the answer.

Joe, Does lifting your finger means "I got it", as 'I heard and understood it'? Many autistic, me included, have issues with speech recognition, and depsite being 44, and speaking 3 languages, nothing has changed for me.
I can imagine how it could have helped me to have adjustments during my school years, there are none in Poland still, but I decided to go to university at last, and I'm doing OU, online university, and all complications I struggled with previously are not present. I din't have to take one phone call even.
