I believe it's very difficult to cover a song and pay homage to the original without butchering it, but Leo knows how to do it right. Amazing.

What I love is that you find a way to stay true to the original sound, but add that little LEO twist. Absolutely love this!
An American anthem. You did it justice.
This hits home for a couple of reasons. First, a song that I have played and sang in every band I was ever in, including high school, when this was a relatively new song. More importantly, my wife and I traveled to Alabama last week into this week because we have a new granddaughter! We actually drove through Muscle Shoals. They have highway 72 on a "bypass", so unlike the other times we have made that long trip, we did not pass directly by the famous studio. (And by "long trip", 800-ish miles from Dallas, Tx, to Scottsboro, AL, each way. That is around 1300 km, for metric folks. I drove both ways. LONG frickin' drive. But GRANDDAUGHTER! Worth it!)

My dad, who was a child during the Great Depression, *loved* this song. And his favorite movie was THIS IS SPINAL TAP. I am pretty damned certain that he would have *LOVED* this cover. And now I'm all weepy, because this is hitting me right in the feels. :D

Growing up in Tennessee, I grew up on skynyrd. This is the best sweet home cover I’ve ever heard. I would expect no less from Leo. Great job as usual brother.

Originally from Alabama here - I always told my kids that every time a baby is born in 'Bama they play Sweet Home. If the baby cries, we send them to Mississippi.
Another Alabamian, If Lynyrd Skynyrd had the metal tones this man has they 100% would've used them. Southern rock is just about heavy as you can get

And, unfortunately, I have, yet, to find southern metal that’s heavy enough - with an adequate amount of twang - also.
I really dig the opening to White Chapel’s album, ‘Kin,’ on ‘We Will Find You.’
However, I want MORE twang, throughout, than just the beginning.
They delve a bit deeper, in the song ‘Kin.’
Bein’ boys from Tennessee, with a twang of their own, when they speak - I WANT MORE, lol.
Upon A Burning Body does alright, with their song ‘New Breed,’
And Bilmuri has got a good twang, to their songs.
However, southern rock and metal still leaves a lot to be desired, when it comes to how heavy it is/can be - at least, in my experience/opinion.
Though, that’s my purpose in life - to make sure country/southern rock and heavy metal create a beautiful little love child.
Southern metal.
Heavy metal swamp blues.
Americana metal.
Twangcore.
Countrycore.
Whatever One wants to call it - I am so ready for it.

Home of the Swampers, also known as The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, one of the most prominent American studio house bands from the 1960s to the 1980s, these musicians, individually or as a group, have been associated with more than 500 recordings, including 75 gold and platinum hits. One of the most surreal experiences of my life involved this song. I'd gone over to Jordan for an archaeological dig (field school). A bus picked the crew up at the airport. When we got off the bus at our tiny hotel in a tinier town, we were greeted by the original version of this song pouring through the hotel doors. That was not the music I'd expected! 😅

@@thor6580 I live outside any of any “city” limits in Metcalfe County, total population about 10,000(?). In 1988, DH&I moved our family here from a town 30 miles north of Trenton NJ, when the housing boom there was getting started.
