there is another intermittent chirp every 30 seconts.. if it is 2 chirps evry 30 seconds it means the unit has expried (end of life - after 10 years of inutial use). and a single chirp every 30 seconds means one or more of batteries are low in charge, according to manual i read.
Thank God someone figured it out, I've got the Night Hawk model and it chirps twice every 30 seconds. I've guess its time to smash it against the wall or put it in a vise and crush it.
Thank you so much ours just went off just now..a beep every 30 seconds , we then went outside to retest on fresh air. N it beep every 30 second too ! Scare me ! We also notice it was mgf in 2011 well over 10 yrs this model is only good for 7 yrs. All models made from 2013 n after are 10 yrs. Buying mew ones.
Your efforts 5 years ago have come to the rescue yet again! Thank you very much for posting this information about the Kidde Carbon Monoxide Detector. Mine was attached to a wall and had been plastered in place so that the mounting bracket was covered. Thanks to your video I was able to loosen it enough to slide it off the bracket and change the batteries without damaging the unit or the wall. Whew! Many thanks, you may never know how the least little thing can help others!
Thank you SO much! This was first time ever changing the batteries all by myself and I was thinking I had to pry it open, too. You saved me a lot time time and effort. I appreciate you!
Thank you so much...single female living alone, could not for the life of me figure out how to get to the batteries or how to get it off the wall short of smashing it with the knife I was using to pry it open I decided to look on RUclips and found this!!! Who knew it would just slide off. Replaced batteries and no more annoying loud beep you've saved my sanity. THANK YOU SO MUCH
OMG I was the only one who woke up by this sound. I searched around the house to find out what this sound was. When I found it I saw the batteries had been corroded (white stuff on the ends) so I most definitely replaced the whole thing the next day. Thanks for this I was panicking
Thank you for this video, my alarm starting beeping like this 2 days ago in my LQ horse trailer. Had no idea how in the world to get it off the wall, much less how to get to the batteries. So appreciate your video. :)
The one thing I forgot when I took out batteries is to see which way each pointed. Not clear in your video. I thought I put in right way but ever 30 seconds it would chirp. And my new batteres were NEW.
For the love of God, can someone tell me how to store this unit with the batteries OUT and the battery compartment door attached? If I remove the batteries, those three crazy(why oh why did they build it this way?) red vertical plastic spring-loaded thingies all pop up. And they make it practically impossible to put the door back on.
Thank you! Yes, I too was having a hard time figuring out how to remove the battery cover on these "rectangular" models. I was letting my inability to figure it out affect my manliness 😁. There are a few slots, etc. that are tempting to try to get at the batteries, but theynare not the way. How did you figure it out - trial and error?
I put my detector on the floor level. Is that not how the stuff travels, floor upward? No mounting. Mine is several years old and it saved our lives in last snow storm.(2O22) Never went off before. Had two, bought 3 more. Cannot find Kidde gold point batteries. Have batteries that came in it.
@@Our__Earth All good answers. The detector people led me to think their aa batts. were somewhat special. Guess they are not. I am confused and trying to understand the placement issue. Most sites, etc. put the things up high. I have heard the story of a mother in a car with child on her lap. The child died as the fumes rose up and so if the detector was on the ceiling I would think a person, in bed, would die before the alarm went off. The story may be a false hood. Just want to know the truth.
Thanks for this. I’ve just nearly ripped mine off the wall in our motorhome. Frustratingly there are no instructions in the booklet that came with the unit and ours was fitted by the motorhome manufacturer. 👍👍
Thank you! Wish I would’ve come to your video first. I wasted so much time watching others. thank you being short and to the point. You are awesome!. You got a new subscriber 😊
My housemate and I have spent the last 3 hours trying to work out why our CO alarm was going off despite having a reading of 0 ppm. We eventually found a second CO above the cabinets in our kitchen which was this model of Kidde alarm. After changing the batteries and watching your video, we can now finally go to bed at 2am without panicking. Thank you so much.
Thank you so Much. I had a knife trying to pry off the front. I have the exact model. I was going to call the fire department. You just saved me alot of hassle.
Your a godsend my family was visiting the remote home and did not know what to do as this same unit had constant blaring alarm and I found your video. Thank You!!
Life saver man. Apartment had this unit, couldnt tell how the hell it came off. Thanks for saving me the pain of coordinating with maintenance (Night shift, I get no respect, am I right?).
Thank you, Thank you so much for making this video on how to change the Carbon Monoxide battery🙏🏽 when our home alarm went off this morning, l honestly did not know what to do and how to slid out the entire compartment, it was very frustrating and confusing. And the sound was so annoying too. I had to come to RUclips looking for a video that can help. Your video showed me everything l needed to know and do. Thanks again and God Bless You🙏🏽
I know this comment is eons late and you won't see this message because of that, but THANK YOU SO SO MUCH! I just moved into my own apartment and the landlord didn't come check on my beeping apartment. It was only beeping 1ce every minute so that's good news. Now I know to change the batteries. And HOW ON EARTH to SLIDE IT OFF THE WALL. Please keep this video up for future people needing advice. You saved the day! :)
Thank you for your video. As you said, I tried to pull out, but it won't work. I said to myself, I am better going to RUclips to see how I can reach the battery compartment, Now that is what is my answer. I think after removing the battery, you should press the reset button for 15 to 20 seconds to drain the electric charge out in the capacitor. Plus, use the air can or blow by the mouth in the hole where the sensor is to blow out the dirt, insect or spider web out before putting it back.
Mine still beeps every 30 seconds even though i have replaced the batteries with brand new Duracell ones. Ive tried resetting but still it continues. Any explanation for this?
I know this was 6 years ago now, and it may be different as it doesn’t have the Kidde logo on it so it may be slightly different but: - A constant tone like heard at the start of the video indicates the alarm is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced immediately. - A chirp every *30 seconds* means the alarm has a fault, and should be investigated or replaced. - A chirp every *60 seconds* means the batteres are low and need replacing. - 2 quick beeps every 30 seconds means the alarm has reached End Of Life and needs to be replaced. As I said, it may vary on this model but it appears to me (and I appreciate it was 6 years ago and the unit is probably replaced by now) that the device was malfunctioning then gave a fault chirp so I think it needed replacing. My alarm looks the exact same however it has a Kidde logo on it and says the model number 7CO, so it’s the same model but it has a lack of logos on it.
So grateful for this video when mine started chirping at 1am waking me up! lol!! Glad you showed me how to get it off the wall so I didn’t have to resort to a hammer!
Thank you for making this video, it helps me to figure out how to remove this detector on the wall coz it needs a new battery to stop this annoying chirping.
Would just recommend a silent recording with better alignment then dub over it just so people don’t have to hear the horrendous alarm tone. But otherwise a decent video I could send my mother in -law to show her how to change the batteries.
Thank you for this video. I looked it up because I wanted to check if the beeping just as you put the last battery in is normal even on a new model and it seems to be.
Thank you sooooo much! I tried EVERYTHING to get it off the wall and even sliding didn't work, after seeing this video I persisted and sure enough it DID slide off! Saved my sanity! THANKYOU!!!!
Thank you for this video! I literally have a headache from that beeping and your video showed me how to remove it and replace the batteries so I don't hear any more "low battery" beeping. *sigh😊
Thanks for making this video. It is two days to Christmas and that would have driven us crazy trying to get it to stop! Your video was easy to understand and saved our sanity! Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much for this video. The apartment complex never showed us how these worked. Turns out a battery was leaking in it and set it off at 1am, scaring my entire family. I spent 30 mins trying to figure out how to open it to check the batteries.
Thanks so much, i couldn't figure out how to take it off in the first place , first time home owner, this video was so helpful after waking up 5 in the morning with that beeping noise
If the unit chirps every 30 seconds after the battery replacement, this indicates an error in the unit. Contact Kidde customer services (if under warranty)
I cannot even express to you how much your video helped me understand what to do with this thing! I truly thank you so much for this.
Glad I could help!

Glad I could help!
Do not get batteries from 99 cents stores even the Duracell from the 99 cents stores won’t work it will keep beeping
Thanks for the tip... appreciate it!

I am so glad you had this tutorial! I couldn't find anything on how to remove this alarm and change the batteries.

I hope someone can reply… I’m not close to my unit right now so I can’t test this… But yes that is crazy.
Thank you so much, I've been trying to get that unit off my wall for the past 2 days

Mine won’t come off. I tried sliding it for like 5 minutes and it just won’t come off. Any tips?!
Oh gracious… No but I’m so sorry
Thanks, was having trouble removing, then saw your super video
So very glad !
Great info! I nearly broke the one I have trying to pry from the wall.
This was hanging on the wall when I moved in, so I just assumed it was hooked up somehow like the thermostat. Mind blown.
Great... thanks.

I found this very helpful as we were not given any instructions on this so I've just changed them myself so fingers crossed it was just the batteries
Why didn’t you post how to take the battery cover off???
Della - see this other video of mine but in short - ruclips.net/video/ujsJhEeVAEA/видео.html slide the cover UP.
Yours shows the batteries with no door over them. I can’t see my batteries. Arg….see no way to replace batteries

But it IS hard to take off the cover, You really didn’t show how to remove it especially if it’s not bracket into a wall
Thank you. You saved my day

how did you slide it up so easily 😭
Turns out mine had paint over it on the back. Thank you.
1am and i can sleep again
:)
Mine still beeps every 30 seconds even though i have replaced the batteries with brand new Duracell ones.
Ive tried resetting but still it continues.
Any explanation for this?
I know this was 6 years ago now, and it may be different as it doesn’t have the Kidde logo on it so it may be slightly different but:

- A chirp every *30 seconds* means the alarm has a fault, and should be investigated or replaced.
- A chirp every *60 seconds* means the batteres are low and need replacing.
- 2 quick beeps every 30 seconds means the alarm has reached End Of Life and needs to be replaced.

I thought they were disposable
I threw 2 away, then when I go to buy a new one , I see the 9 v battery in the package!!! Frick

Thank you so so so much. It’s the weekend and the HOA super isn’t available. This thing was driving me bonkers for 27 hrs. Done ✅

So grateful to you for posting this. Saved me!
It sounds like a malfunction! Not a low battery
So very glad !
Thank you soo Very much....the beeping was causing lack of sleep!!
So very glad to hear it helped. !
What if it makes a beep every 30 seconds to 1 minute
that beep does not mean that the battury is low it means that you have to replace the alarm
Thank you so much!!! I didn’t think it worked until the beeping started and had no clue how to replace until this video!
My pleasure. Glad it worked for you
Sounds like an old BRK 1839n

If it trips every 30 seconds it means a malfunction has occurred
Thanks.

Haha I feel so dumb.....I got ticked off and almost ripped the damn thing off the wall after spending almost an hour on it and yet it’s so simple lol
The alarm beeps 2 or 3 times in a while ? Wasn't before anything, could be the battery or something serious?
