- If you didn't know already, Oceansize is an all time band for me, and Mike Vennart is a guitar hero.
Perhaps the demo video of his signature pedal, or the Laney GH 50L head would have tipped you off.
I love his songs, his sound, his productions, band and solo.
I have turned a ton of my students on to his music, and will continue to spread the gospel of Vennart for the rest of my days.
This was a long one. Took TWO parties to get it all done. It was an absolute blast to dissect all of the weird layers, and try to recreate them. It's sloppy, but it was so much fun. Far worse ways to spend a couple of Fridays.
And, let's be serious.
No more 9 Minute Cover Parties.
Dan Schaibly - Guitars, Vocals
Andrew Wulf - Bass
Cesar Peña - Drums, Punk Guac
Brandon White - Drums
Pete Hansen - Keys
Scott Karg - Guitar, Humor
Kevin Stephens - Moral Support
Andi McCulloch - Filming
Greg Henkin - Guitars, Vocals, Mixing, Editing

Fantastic!! You absolutely nailed it!!
Big oceansize and vennart fan here! You all did an excellent job here, what a brilliant cover! Is it just me, or did you absolutely nail the guitar tones? Around the 6 minute mark it sounds just like the original recording!! 😮🤯
thanks homie. a boosted Marshall style amp will get in the ballpark!
This is so amazing. Thought I was watch Frames live for a second there

You're my new favorite people
Can you do An Old Friend of the Christys? 😁
please do more. Oceansize is fuckin king
I love that you guys covered Oceansize and put this level of effort into the recording, but if I could put one (hopefully) constructive item of criticism out there, then please excuse any unintended harshness. One of the things that made Oceansize such a special and one-of-a-kind band was their perfectly synced up timing. This comes across in their recordings, obviously, but also in pretty much every single one of their publicly visible live recordings (save for the one that broke them up, which I don’t want to talk about). It feels like whoever’s playing the intro guitar part doesn’t give a shit about the speed of the keys, which immediately - like right out of the gate - completely ruins everything that makes this song so amazing. Again, don’t mean to be mean, just throwing some feedback out there that I hope is constructive. Please keep doing what you’re doing!
What keys are you talking about? If any criticism, I would point it to the drummer(s?) who's not very tight.
