One of my favorite bands - all the things I loved about Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Tool, Rush, Radiohead, and more all in a one of a kind band teeming with vitality
Mark Herons ability to interpret rhythm is fucking amazing.......and he made this band what they were. Not taking away from the songwriting by any means but this is a band that couldn't go on without this drummer.
Jim, I just want to say something. I only heard this astounding song today for the first time - 30th November, 2019. It appeared, as if by magic, on Spotify whilst I was listening to my muse, The National. Watching your reaction to Music for a Nurse was like looking into my soul. I could see the emotion in your face and the palpable way in which you absorbed this song's majesty, power and beauty. And I had tears in my eyes. And - not that it should matter - but I am a 54 year old man. It is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard and when one reads the lyrics too, it takes you on a journey to where even this zero-relegious person still deep down, hopes might exist.
One of my favorite bands! This is one of their more mellow songs. I'd recommend "Massive Bereavement" for something more representative of their regular sound.
I was one of the few people who recommended this band and I'm glad you finally gave them a chance! This for me is one of the most beautiful songs ever made, it always brings tears into my eyes... Anyway, you should listen to Trail of Fire next, it will blow your mind :)
depends on his taste. The Charm Offensive or Unfamiliar, or Ornament / The Last Wrongs would also all be great choices. Also VENNART solo music? Donkey Kong or Doubt would be among the better tracks to react to.
And while Oceansize are gone, Mike Vennart keeps making quality music. He had a more electronic band called British Theatre and his new Project "Vennart" is also really good and in some parts really mimics what made Oceansize so great. Anyway. one of the best bands that never got the recognition they deserved :( Their guitarist plays with Amplifier now, another great band worth checking out!
Love this reaction. Oceansize were so underappreciated in their time. Next time you listen to them, if you want something similar to this: Women Who Love Men Who Love Drugs If you want something a little more straight ahead/accessible: Heaven Alive And if you want something a little heavier: Catalyst
Oceansize is my all time favorite band! I would love to see you react to Unfamiliar off of the album Frames. If that one doesn’t leave a tear in your eye, I’ll buy you a beer.
Great band. Each album kinda has their own vibe. I personally LOVE the song Catalyst from them. Was the song that introduced me to them as well as the one that gets the most rotation.
I bounce back and forth between Effloresce and EIP, then some time passes, and I always gravitate right back to Effloresce. "One Day All This Could Be Yours" is too good. Oh but then I remember "Paper Champion" from Music For Nurses.. man, such an under exposed band, a true shame.
Right off the bat - loving the sound of that snare drum! Atmospheric and relaxing, up until that last part. Quite nice! Also kind of reminded me, until the vocals came in, of a more mellow version of Chicago based band Russian Circles. But that's a band for another request. Here, on the other hand, is the usual request for Art of Illusion - "Distance". Please give them a try! ruclips.net/video/4bE_ryqp3Ig/видео.html
I recommend you listed to the Music For Nurses EP - start at Track 2 and let it play through like you might with 2112 or whatever - it's an astonishing band
A really good song! I took the band on my playlist to get to know them better. They have listened their Radiohead albums properly, but the singer saved them from plagiarizing. When the singing started, the song turned toward Danish band Mew, which I seriously advise to listen, Jim, too. This song hit the right nerve!
Ooo! I've heard of them - I think they were playing at a festival I was at a number of years ago, but I didn't see them so don't actually know their music at all. I'll be adding to the list!!!
If you like this sort of dreamy but at the same time intense and powerful, may I suggest the band "Soup" or "Oak" from Norway. The latest "Soup" album has a similar sound, try the song "The boy and the snow", fantastic.
Funny.. I had an album from them that I got randomly and never really stuck on me.. let's see about this one. I was just about to ask you to do another isis song (gentle time) then you mention recommendation from 5 months ago lol
put the video in a different video.. like make a border or background and make the video-window a bit smaller , put it in front of that backgroundthen you might be okay :) worth a try
Not the most representative album at all. Effloresce and Frames are both much better in my opinion. This one was their attempt to be more accessible. Still a good album.
This is a good song but i think they have much better than this. I recommend Massive Bereavement, Saturday Morning Breakfast Show, or One Day All This Could Be Yours. But still, awesome reaction!! Came for the tool but stayed for the personality
How the fuck I have never came across this band. I am listening to the album. I am speachless...
One of my favorite bands - all the things I loved about Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Tool, Rush, Radiohead, and more all in a one of a kind band teeming with vitality
This song always gives me the chills.
Oceansize is extremely underrated. The Frames album is definetely their opus magnum, highly recommended.
Mark Herons ability to interpret rhythm is fucking amazing.......and he made this band what they were. Not taking away from the songwriting by any means but this is a band that couldn't go on without this drummer.
I miss Oceansize!
Amazing band!
Back in the 2000s this was one of Steven Wilson ‘s favorite bands....
Incredible band. I was lucky enough to see them four times and meet them once! Hope to see them reunite one day.
Jim, I just want to say something.

yes, Vennart's solo band is terrific!
Yeah I wish they were still around. My othe favorite is The Mars Volta. Probably the best band ever
Hey Jim, you know what time it is?
OCEANSIZE ALBUM REVIEW TIME
Goosebumps! This and Amputee are in my opinion their greatest work.
Love this reaction. Oceansize were so underappreciated in their time. Next time you listen to them, if you want something similar to this: Women Who Love Men Who Love Drugs
If you want something a little more straight ahead/accessible: Heaven Alive
And if you want something a little heavier: Catalyst
Or heavier still, Sleeping Dogs And Dead Lions
Or "You Wish", or "Homage To A Shame". Although the latter half of "Charm Offensive" gets pretty heavy.
My favourite band of the early 90s. Saw them live many times. Effloresce is a stunning album.
Oceansize is my all time favorite band! I would love to see you react to Unfamiliar off of the album Frames. If that one doesn’t leave a tear in your eye, I’ll buy you a beer.
You need to react to more of Oceansize!
Yes, I know!
@@JimNewstead please do!
My favorite band of all time, which is saying a lot. I sure hope you checked out their other stuff.
After 4 years, I think its time for your second reaction to this band lol :) Charm offensive or Long Forgotten, both would be amazing.
Forget what I have told. TRAIL OF FIRE. Its something out of this world. You need to do that... Please :)
More Oceansize 🙌🏼
A medical grade sonic sponge bath.
Ain't it good? Splosh!
Hey man a new subscriber. Love the videos 👌🏾 Effloresce is a phenomenal album

Catalyst is what Incubus should have evolved into sounding like…
Cathartic.
Did you ever get round to listening to their back catalogue? It's so great to see you discover them for the first time; genuine joy on your face.
Oceansize Effloresce album review next sorry I don't make the rules.
You're the best, Jim!
Awww, cheers dude!

Oceansize - Only Twin

@@JimNewstead I just noticed, that I haven't checked them for a while and they've done a new album last year. Frengers is a good album to start!
I kinda like their Music For Nurses EP. How about some day : Mogwai - We're no here ?
I've thought about Mogwai before - yes, I might well listen to some.
check If These Trees Could Talk - Malabar Front you will love it :)
Please react to remember where you are / amputee by oceansize
Single bite of cherry fo' you!
Orphaned Land - disciples of the sacred oath II. bonus info: Steven Wilson mixed the album, and here i quote Steven" the Israelish version of Opeth
If you like this sort of dreamy but at the same time intense and powerful, may I suggest the band "Soup" or "Oak" from Norway. The latest "Soup" album has a similar sound, try the song "The boy and the snow", fantastic.
Thanks for the recommendation, I'm listening to "the boy and the snow" right now, I like what I hear!
Oceansize? Shut up and take my views.
?
Amazing and very underrated band. I suggest the songs Catalyst and 9/11 commemorative t-shirt. Cheers!

Plz plz can u do Just a ride by rishloo????
I know u loved dark charade..
bro plzz
Pretty sure its a Bill Hicks referenced song but the lyrics and the build up really helped through the loss of a loved one.
put the video in a different video.. like make a border or background and make the video-window a bit smaller , put it in front of that backgroundthen you might be okay :) worth a try
Not the most representative album at all. Effloresce and Frames are both much better in my opinion. This one was their attempt to be more accessible. Still a good album.
Agreed, tho after listening a lot to those 2 you mentioned, I find coming back to this one, very refreshing and enjoyable
This is a good song but i think they have much better than this. I recommend Massive Bereavement, Saturday Morning Breakfast Show, or One Day All This Could Be Yours. But still, awesome reaction!! Came for the tool but stayed for the personality
React to A Perfect Circle : Pet. One of the best songs ever written.
Jim, I think you’ll like Unleash The Archers - Awakening (Full Band Playthrough)
Nice! Oceansize! They have much better songs than this one though. Defo worth checking out more!
Which album would you recommend to start with?
@@MrMaxlines Frames !!!
Too mellow for me.
FYI Jim, group reorganized as Vennart, named after the leader, Mike Vennart.
