ST showed weakness in broken play, they were totally static in that situation and the sharks 9 and 10 had amazing ten yard speed after the line break. I don’t think Leinster have the players in those positions with that speed and vision, but ST need to watch that.

I really enjoyed that game I was quite impressed with the sharks however Toulouse showed just how good they are when it really mattered , for me Toulouse are the best team to watch in Europe maybe the world, ideally I would like an English team to win the competition but I think that's unlikely so I support the team that I enjoy watching most and that's Toulouse, they play the game the way it should be played .

I'd love to watch a game of rugby in that stadium
Been watching a couple of games every year there since almost 30 years now, not the biggest stadium by any means but always a good and noisy crowd and European cup games are always an occasion and great atmosphere.
Toulouse is a land of rugby, they have a real crowd of rugby lovers, not spectators like there can be in other stadiums.
The piss up after the match was massive.
You can always go to Toulouse and watch a game, I picked up tickets on their home site four days ago.

Yes, but if....we can think or believe that the game would have been different. Toulouse has a lot of injuries and not the least and .... It's human to reason in this way. It helps to console you but, in the end, only the result counts. What I remember is that this match made me go up the thrilling so much I vibrate in one direction as in the other. Toulouse won but the real winner is this sport which is called Rugby.

I still want to put this kind of performance in perspective, we saw the real level of the Sharks in the first half. After that they gave up physically. This kind of game with long travels and short recovery times completely distort the competition.

Our franchise teams may have been kicked out of this competition but the boks will do the job in the World Cup. Most of our best players are playing overseas even though this sharks team was loaded with a few springboks, most of our guys are playing overseas for European clubs like Jasper Wiese, Duane Vermuelen, Malcolm Marx , Faf De Klerk, Handre Pollaard, Damian De Allende, Lood de Jager, Franco Mostert, Pieter-Steph Du Toit, Kwagga Smith, Willie Le Roux, Cheslin Kolbe etc. and most of these guys are in our starting XV for the boks. Tolouse and pretty much the rest of Europe don't have this problem because they've got money which keeps the internationals at their clubs. The Springboks are a different team compare to our franchises and if our franchises do bad, then that doesn't mean that the boks will do bad at all.

Pollard wasn't even starting for Montpellier when he was there, he is far from being your best 10. France has 14 pro clubs, a lot of our great players aren't playing in the best clubs either atm (Penaud, Jalibert, Fickou, Villière, Ollivon, Willemse, Woki, Macalou, Taofifenua and many more). Recall also that another french club reached the semi, La Rochelle, with players like Alldritt, Tanga, Atonio, Danty. And people were much more enthousiast about the Sharks that has quite a few Springboks in the team a week ago when they destroyed Munster. It's just that Toulouse and Leinster are a class above the rest, and so are France and Ireland, that have been almost unbeatable for the past 2 years;

It's clear to me that the top 4/5 teams are in the end around the same level/intensity. And I think as much as i like Toulouse, that an away match for them in SA could have also been a defeat, this competition with long flights and intensity of games (in number) makes it hard to judge IMHO.

@@donovan7177 Yes they are playing better rugby mainly because they have alot of National players in TS and Leinster.If any of the SA team has mainly Book players,that team will play like TS and Leinster too.The Boks are beasts on the field with physicality,they smash the opposition so much so that they are weakened and are less likely to play their running rugby as well as they do like we've seen many a times,for ex,the Autumn series.
The difference is that all this europeans top teams are able to keep the same intencity all along the match.

Every team or country experience a moment like that, lot of people are praising the French national team for the last 2 years but we should remember they took a decade of inconsistency and even poor rugby to get back on their feet. This is the first time in which an European team, who is not backed by the Government and bases himself only upon his resources, can effectively compete with a super- physically strong South African franchise. SA franchises are backed by gold and diamonds mines and are formed by huge muscled Back guys and I thought that they would have easiy won all the matches
As good as they played in attack Toulouse did not look good defensively in this game.
In fairness. Toulouse, Leinster and Exeter all shipped a few tries but still won comprehensively. I'd rather watch teams play high risk rugby, than hope to win a slugfest 15-10. Semi finals shaping up to be crackers 🙂
hey -tanking just the 20 is a fair defensive assessment, compare that to the France side who conceded less than that only once in the entire 6N. The rest being 24, 32, 21 & 28 respectively.

03:15 - Tshituka's knee is very clearly down and the ball gets ripped from him. Toulouse then score after that exact moment to make it a 9 point game. That should've been looked at by the ref and resulted in a penalty against Toulouse. But because the crowd didnt have this huge response meant the ref didn't get influenced. Could've changed the game that moment.

Sadly, that is how ridiculous the carding has become. Sometime you hear refs consider mitigating circumstances, other times a hair touches the opposing player's head and it is a red card.

I don’t think anyone hates the South African sides they have been very good to watch. Certain fans will always take the opportunity to gloat over other losing teams and South African fans are no different. The European Championship is a very difficult competition to win, and is savage in the knockout stages. For their first year , I thought the SA teams did very well. I have no doubt they will learn and get better.
Sharks need a way better defence coach. Whiteley is doing a terrible job.
