    I have a Meta Quest 3 , and Pioneer Tribe XR . I think it’s pretty cool . especially if you want to test using actual pioneer turntables but don’t have the money or access to the equipment. we’re still in the early stages of VR, but I do think eventually this will become big. 🤔

    I think it's cool. If it could work in VR Chat among other areas you could actually do a concert within the space without having to generate people around them like some of W&W's sets.

    First props on the Ruslan YT snippet. ❤
    Secondly - I’m trying to get the mixtour pro still, and just mastering how to use the mixon8 still much less VR option! Ha ha
    Ok - last but not least - I think if we heading in that direction I would want immersion into the DJ experience first - and by that I mean I want the waveforms giant in front me (not down on some table), I want the playlist in giant form in front me with all the important elements, maybe those two things in modular form so I can move them around in an arrangement that I can quickly navigate around in (grab track, throw in a deck - not vinyl representation but like how we see it now in DJay, but enhanced - grabbing cue points and moving them around on the waveform, etc).
    I want to be immersed in the software - and if I wanted to have a traditional dj experience with people / avatars in front of me, then I can switch to that view.
    But then go back to the art of selection.
    Also - triggering samples and loops with the waveforms - maybe next to or super imposed on top of playing tracks while triggering them? I mean the mind boggles.
    I want to be immersed in the act of DJing as the software as has shown us all these options. Let us live inside of that and not some old school representation of what DJing used to look like.
    Put us inside it - that’s what will take it to the next level.
    As always - super interesting to see you pushing to next level!

  • @lightburning9693

    What could be cool is if you have some little "widgets -small sculptural piece" that you could pick up and kinda throw or cast into the wave form while the mix is flowing and the different widget prompt an effects chain. For instance a glowing star when it hits the wave form it does pulse effect with a high pass filter and flanger build over 8 bars. You could customize the fx chain for each widget and the color and size of the widgets themselves. Also It has to have a way to output what the DJ is seeing to a screen in the venue during the mix.

    Thank you for sharing your experience with us Luke! I am bedroom DJ and also a technology enthusiast, so I was very interested in hearing about how DJing would work with the Vision Pro. While this looks fantastic and the tech making this possible is mind blowing, I feel this will not really take off, not professionally anyway. This is something to play with at home maybe.
    I feel that the vision interface / moving your hands in the air kind of interface is not capable of the multitude of interactions that a proper tactile interface is able to provide. This is not to say the Vision Pro is somehow bad, but tactile feel and manipulation is superior to all other interfaces in my opinion. The feel of the knobs and faders allows for rapid operation of devices.
    Try that "in the air" or on a purely touch interface, and you will fail. Sure, you can maybe press a few giant buttons using the VR/AR tech, but if you think how many different controls there are on a DJ mixer and what fine controls you do sometime to achieve an effect or do something gradually ... well good luck with manipulating all of those in a quick succession using this tech. Similar reason why touch only interfaces are not really good for doing this kind of things.
    And then we did not even mention people with visual impairments, who could very well operate something with buttons and knobs and faders, but will be unable to enjoy or operate something like this.
    Plus in the case of the Vision Pro: viewing this from the outside is really comical. 🙂Sure it is fun at home, but I do not see this as part of any kind of actual performance, unless all attendees also view the virtual world through their own Vision Pro's -- but then I will question the sanity of the situation: gathering somewhere physically to enjoy each other in a virtual place 😀 But of course if everyone gathers into one virtual space and you start DJing using this tech _casually_, then that might make sense - you want to be present virtually, but also DJ at the same time.
    I am very excited about both technology and DJing, I like to test out new tech and live on the edge ... but DJing in an Apple Vision Pro seems like a gimmick to me.

    It’s not going to catch on for the same reason those big touch screens controllers didn’t catch on. Tactile feedback is too important. As long as VR/AR doesn’t include some sort of tactile feedback gloves it’s not gonna work for applications like djing

    • @robtronik
      @robtronik Месяц назад +2

      I think if the cost comes down and the interface is amazing and fun, then I see it being an option.
      Especially since we don’t know how people getting together (virtually) in the future is going to play out.
      I think we are so early in this process that it can only get better.
      This and AI are going to (or already have) radically change how we think and interact with playing music to be people.
      Things like Udio and instant text based prompts of making tracks on the fly to mix into sets hasn’t even started yet, but it’s definitely coming.

    • @lightburning9693
      @lightburning9693 Месяц назад +2

      There is a solution for this. There are tactil;e gloves that produce feedback to what you are feeling in VR. Of cource they would have to choose to impliment them in this setup. But I do agree tactile imput is super important to Djing.

      I think the thing here is all you need is the Apple vision pro and speakers. No PC or Laptop, That would make this a neet option for Eclectic venue Djing.

      @lightburning9693 you don't need a computer or speakers with the occulus quest 2 or 3... tribe xr runs fully on the headset on battery power. the quest 2 is like $199 USD.. that's over 17 times cheaper than vision pro

    I get the look into newer tech and applaud the content but I think djing itself needs certain elements that connect you (the dj) to the crowd and this just widens that gap in my opinion. Next the dj won’t even have to be there, ai projection can take over and … you see the point. Tech can move in any direction but in my view djing is still a human performance based experience. It’s hard to connect with that performer if they have vr glasses strapped to them.

    • @nicka5040
      @nicka5040 Месяц назад

      For live shows this seems lacking, but in VR this could be awesome. I've actually had a decent time in a few online festivals with some actually big name DJs performing before, and that was only through a regular game like Minecraft. I could see plenty of smaller artists using this supplementary to their actual live performances and to connect with fans similar to how some big name people like Virtual Riot and Deadmau5 will regularly stream on a platform like Twitch.

    Really cool concept! Now if only we could get good switching between absolute and relative mode when using dvs, ie hotcue or loop switches to relative mode automatically and loading new track switch to absolute mode. It’s probably the biggest thing preventing me from going Algoriddim full time

    • @AlgoriddimOfficial
      @AlgoriddimOfficial Месяц назад

      Hi Rasmus! Interesting idea :) would you mind telling us why you'd need that feature? By the way if you just want to switch amongst REL/ABS/INT mode you can Midi map it within djay :)

    • @rasmusa380
      @rasmusa380 Месяц назад

      @@AlgoriddimOfficial Thanks for the reply. Well I love absolute mode since it gives me the ability to tell how long in to the song I am (I’m on CDJ 1000s) and it behaves like it would if I had a regular cd in. But then that obviously doesn’t allow me to use hot cues in DJay or quantized loops. So the way I had it setup when I was in Traktor was that I would use absolute mode, but had hot cues and loops mapped to the midi page on my DJM 2000 and that way I could activate a hot cue, have it instantly switch to relative mode, and then when I loaded the next track, if I remember correctly, it was simply a matter of going back to the very beginning of the dvs track and then I was back to absolute mode and didn’t have to worry about having the switch between the 2 modes mapped. I was trying to work around this by mapping both switch to relative mode and hot cue 1 etc to the same button but as far as I’ve been able to tell there’s no way to do that. Thanks for your time and listening to the community! 💛🖤

    Once it becomes more cheaper and infused into our music culture, I rate b2b sets gna be like awesome with many users at the time, besides just djs. Xbox and ps ideas come into play here and even fast connectivity around the world will make the world a better play area. Globalisation is made everything accessible for any person. That growth rate is increasing by each day.

    To me it looks like an unnecessary gimmick that doesn't introduce anything new/useful + it looks weird for people around. I think I need to touch and feel things I'm using, so I'm not a fan at all. I really hope it's not the future of DJing.
    PS. also the graphics like decks and "HUD" look so flat and cheap like a video game from 20 years ago...

      This being the first iteration I am sure they were focused on a simple experince with function over form. Certainl;y if this goes over well the UI can be made into something incredible. I love the idea of trying this at say an artgallery gig. Or maybe a wine cafe. It could be cool for eclectic venues.

      Furthermore generating media is far easier. With the advent of creative AI technology there’s an opportunity to quickly generate interesting tracks,mixes, effects with the touch of a “virtual” button with little or no effort, Which raises the bar for quality performances!

      So what's stopping you from playing on your preferred setup? Idk why it has to be this OR that instead of this AND that... Use what you like and what you prefer. Innovation, new tech and gear doesn't mean you have to stop using what you prefer. But Apple supporting DJay and allowing apple music streaming is a huge deal and only helps the DJ industry.
