On Friday 28th February and Saturday 1st March Amira performed on stage together with Cape Philharmonic Orchestra and Cape Town Opera Chorus during the Starlight Classics Concert at the Vergelegen Wine Estate near Cape Town. Amira is talented, and should be encouraged to pursue her talents. But those in charge of Amira are not acting in her best interest. Flinging her headlong onto the course they are setting for her now is more than shameful. The promoters of HGT need to be called to task for their involvement in this irresponsible publicity campaign.
What she needs I believe is a decent voice coach to help her develop her talent. Right now it is unrefined and her voice is a little too shrill. Many have compared her to Jackie Evancho, which is unfair because they have different voices, ranges and styles, and Jackie's interpretation of the music she makes and the songs/arias she sings is in a class of its own, far above any others in my opinion, but perhaps one day Amira will be as good as Jackie is NOW... by the time that happens however, Jackie will be SOOOOO much better! Insofar as your concerns for the way Amira is being promoted (and exploited???) are concerned, how is this any different from the media attention and promotion Jackie Evancho, Connie Talbot, Patricia Janeckova and many other rising child stars have received and enjoyed??? If you don't push a child at all, she may lose her only opportunity in life to make it big. Children cannot manage themselves. With internet and youtube, I think life in show business is greatly accelerated. Maybe a child star can't wait to 21 years old before she takes her career seriously. At 21, she may have lost her uniqueness, and may find herself in a crowded, competitive market. In any competitive field, some level of aggressiveness will be required for success. Raising a child like Amira will be full of challenges. How do you raise one of the best child singers on this planet? If she were my child, I would encourage her to pursue her singing. But if she gets tired or her interest starts to decline, I would quickly bring her back to the "real" world and let her relax. She is only 11 years old; you cannot expect her to be fully committed like an adult. Overwork is one problem; another problem is that a young person may change her mind about her tastes and interests. Amira may decide that running is her real passion, or mathematics. Or her voice may change. If a parent tries to dictate a child's life choices, there can be many very bad outcomes. The child's emotional health must have top priority. Luckily, most of us are not faced with this level of difficulty.

While she trying to sing in any other language except her mothers tongue she sounds like Hebrew and is unintelligible. Especially Italian is important in Opera business. She is frequently introduced as a musician, what is the Instrument and Level she play or it is a bubble-up? However, if I overlooked her performances I apologize
