Pastor David, Every night I read from my Bible verse by verse and afterwards, I listen to your audio or watch a video of you teaching on what I read. Tonight was the first 2 chapters of Philippians. I’ve read these scriptures many times through the years, even reading verse 21 at my Daddy’s funeral; but tonight while reading verses 20-26, I started crying. Almost as if I could feel Paul’s longing to be with Jesus, yet also knowing there’s more work to be done. I read them again to my husband when he got home and got choked up again. Then we listened to your description of the word Paul used, how his longing was so deep, aching to be with Jesus. I’d never grasped the depth of his words before and now I know why it had me crying. Since I’ve been following you, you have made the Word of God seem as if I’m there in real time with everything I’ve heard you preach on. From Matthew until now. God has truly anointed you; given you such an amazing gift in your ministry for Him. I thank you for your obedience to serve and I continue to pray for you as you continue to reach and bless others sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I really appreciate David Guzik for one thing, whenever he is quoting from commentaries, he is always mentioned the name of the commentator unlike some other pastors. David this is very humble of you. You even help in sign posting us to read those commentaries. Remain ever so empowered in Jesus Name Amen.
WOW! For once I’m reading Philippians 1 and I understand for certain what a rich letter Paul was writing. Thanks Dr. Guzig! Now I need to pray that God will help me be not only a reader but a doer of this rich letter.
12:36 love the clarification Pastor David makes here.. that God's deliverance via the prison break through was not in response to their praise but in concert with their praise. This clarification here brings me so much freedom to praise God without a formulaic approach..i.e. praising God for who God is vs. praising God at midnight to replicate Paul's breakthrough or Paul's formula and outcome. I'm grateful for this clarification among so many other things. Thank you. Ok..let me continue listening.
Some people are not going to be made perfect by Hoseas children ,we are not made perfect without the heros of the faith. pray for bloodline curses to be broken , and for He who has begun a good work ,in us is not by any power but by Jesus in whom is all light. God is good and isnt tempted to sin.
Pastor David, does suffering for His sake really include things like cancer, mental health difficulties, insecurity, etc which are unrelated to persecution for faith in Jesus and for Gods sake? I feel, as you say, abandoned by God, but encouraged by your words. Pray that i may live by trust in Gods word (not feelings) and that i can bring Him glory even in the sufferings which are 'selfish' rather than being persecuted for Him. That gives HUGE encouragement, and purpose to suffering 'normal' human/life things. Is this "fruitful labour"? Thank you for all your teaching n may God reward n bless you as His faithful servant.
Thank you Pastor David! Wonderful Message! It was Moving and Right on Time! If you have the rest of Philippians posted on this channel - I will finish the book with you! God Bless!
Pastor David's Enduring Word commentary on Philippians 1: enduringword.com/bible-commentary/philippians-1/ A.W. Tozer wrote this powerful piece rebuking the attitude of competition that is common among those in the ministry: “Dear Lord, I refuse henceforth to compete with any of Thy servants. They have congregations larger than mine. So be it. I rejoice in their success. They have greater gifts. Very well. That is not in their power nor in mine. I am humbly grateful for their greater gifts and my smaller ones. I only pray that I may use to Thy glory such modest gifts as I possess. I will not compare myself with any, nor try to build up my self-esteem by noting where I may excel one or another in Thy holy work. I herewith make a blanket disavowal of all intrinsic worth. I am but an unprofitable servant. I gladly go to the foot of the cross and own myself the least of Thy people. If I err in my self- judgment and actually underestimate myself I do not want to know it. I purpose to pray for others and to rejoice in their prosperity as if it were my own. And indeed it is my own if it is Thine own, for what is Thine is mine, and while one plants and another waters it is Thou alone that giveth the increase.” (from _The Price of Neglect,_ 104-105)
Pastor Lance replies - In the New Testament - ALL believers are saints. The word simply means "set-apart ones." But the Roman Church has a group of special people it confers a special title to called "saint" and they can only be canonized as a saint if they meet certain special criteria.

How could Paul go to heaven if he died when the Temple was still standing🤷🏿♂️
@@SELAHPAUSE Sorry, but I am not quite sure about what you are asking. If you wouldn't mind could you ask that question using different words? Thanks!

What is that name of the author who wrote that letter of rebuking competition in the gospel?

I'm wondering why the Bishops and Deacons were not included as saints. Would not the mention of saints include the bishops and Deacons too?

@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord so they are double saints?
