    Man it sucks so bad that they took the chairs away from the upper level, sitting and relaxing with that wonderful view of the beach is one of my fondest memories of Atlantic City, and having a fantastic sushi dinner at the place that used to operate there. Atlantic city has a bit of work in order to get more tourism. They need to take advantage of the beach as an attraction instead of blocking it off. Diversifying off of gambling might help. I think acx1 will have trouble because most big studios can get access to restaurants or shopping centers in their home cities. Perhaps bringing in various events might help.

    Wow loved this, even though it’s a bit depressing seeing it as a ghost town I loved the walk thru … I haven’t been there since 2011 when it was still thriving but not like the 90’s as a kid
    Glad to see the memorabilia store (wonder if same owner such a nice guy) and eleganza still there… use to shop a lot at both store
    In 2011 my last time there , there was a Gucci store, LV and other high end shops right on the second level when you enter and go up escalator , Eleganza I believe is now in the old LV store
    In the 90’s there was a huge arcade at the end that I use to go to as a kid (most hotels had arcades at that time)
    The memories !!! Sad to see it like this

    • @NuYawk
      @NuYawk  5 месяцев назад +3

      Here's a description from the old website: A clever mix of vintage elegance and vanguard sophistication, Continental Atlantic City invokes the drama of the rat pack days on the Vegas strip. The space incorporates such unique retro elements as a sunken fire-pit lounge, populuxe bar and outdoor patio all accented by a breathtaking view of the ocean. The global tapas menu showcases a variety of innovative dishes meant to be shared. And of course the martinis are an essential part of the experience.

      That was one beautiful restaurant, wasn't it? I walked through the pier during its 'heyday' to see the light show and when I saw the restaurant I just stopped and saw so much beauty. It was one restaurant I wanted to go to because of the decor. I never made it. I liked Phillips Crab House as well, which was on the pier. • @djargus
      @djargus 5 месяцев назад +1

      Unfortunately Buc-ee's doesn't want to come to New Jersey for the gas pump attendant law (would be great if they picked a spot on US-30, near to the GSP; they don't have to have a man for every pump, just an employee for every 8 pumps or so, and shut down some pumps at night for slow times like Wawa and QuickChek does). Hopefully they will pick somewhere close by (maybe Pennsylvania or New York State) so I don't have to drive all the way south to (currently) South Carolina for the closest open Buc-ee's.

    • @richardhales92
      @richardhales92 5 месяцев назад

      @@djargus I did not know this. Thank you. New Jersey has a 'gas pump attendant law?' I'm not sure, but New Jersey likes to brag they have the cheapest gas in the country. New Jersey has to have an attendant for every gas pump?

    • @djargus
      @djargus 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@richardhales92 New Jersey by law requires a pump attendant to pump your gasoline for you. Oregon is the only other state that has that law on the books, but that state recently eased it up where half of the pumps can be self-serve, leaving NJ as the only complete full service state left.
      It doesn't have to have an attendant for every gas pump, just that the pump attendant is the one only allowed to handle the nozzle in NJ. You can have one attendant for multiple pumps, but probably should have enough pump attendants per shift to not piss off the customers that have to wait for the attendant.

    • @richardhales92
      @richardhales92 5 месяцев назад

      @@djargus That is interesting! I think I'd hate waiting for an attendant to come over and pump my gas. I like to keep moving. I don't really like self service checkouts at grocery stores, but things move faster, so I use them. I'd love to see a Buc-ees move closer up to the mid-atlantic and Northeast because I've never experienced them.

I mean he was permitted, so it was nice that he had nice enough manners like the old days to ask. I thought that was nice. And it reminded me of the old days when people were polite and asked you. Remember the airplanes and you could smoke. Oh my God. I never smoked, but I sure would on an airplane.
