Someone replaced the oem starter on my 19' sunrunner and put in the wrong starter and it is dragging, even with two fully charged batteries hooked up. It would be nice to have an oem starter. I'm about to tackle the transom seal. Your video has given me the knowledge/confidence to give it a try.
it could just be the starter needs to have a shim or two put in it. Usually they will drag when installing a new one because the gears are meshing too tight.
Have a question if your able or willing to give answer/advice ? Lol, I have this same motor, currently putting it back in the boat . I bought a new water impeller and housing but I am lost on the location for it do you know where it would be thanks

Recently purchased a boat with an omc 140 with 400 stringer . Trim is working fine tilt up tilt down is also working. Question can the tilt up be used as extra trim ? I m able to tilt up half way for trimming but once i put it in forward drive drops . Is that normal? Any guidance is well appreciated
Hello! I have a 1983 Bayliner with the same engine but it is reading low compression. 1-85 2-85 3-110 4-95 I wanted to know if you knew what the compression should be on a engine this old and if I will need to have pull the head and replace the piston rings and head gasket. Thank you!

I have a 1991 OMC 3.0 Cobra were can I get the gasket rebuild kit for it.
Where did you find the rebuild kit for your carburetor? I’ve looked everywhere for this one specific to the engine & everyone has been wrong.
Go to your local Napa store. If they are good they can help you out.
Have you sold your motor OMC 140 motor?
OMC was a good design in my opinion.

I have sold the motor and I don't have another for sale.
Is that a transmission on the back the 3.0 does not have a set up that way

The tilt is not for trimming. It is only for transporting.

They should all be at least 120-130

If you have an outdrive on it you will have to use muffs to start it

Hi I have a 87 merc 3 liter omc, can you tell me what the tube is that has a chain and lid, I think its attached to the oil pan plug.
That is where you suck the oil out to change oil.
My engine does not start. I changed to new fresh oil and gasoline. New sparkplugs. New battery what should I try next to start it

Is fuel getting to and through the carb?

I tied the wiring into the ignition so the pump only runs with the ignition switch on.

Are parts hard to get for a OMC 3.0 engine?
Since it's basically the chevy iron duke motor they are easier than most.
Parts for the engine are a dime a dozen....
Really hard to find any parts for the. 1984 OMC stringer 400 tho 😢
