    Shoulder blade imbalance is very common both with shoulder symptoms, or without symptoms. Shoulder blade imbalance is when the shoulder blades are not even. One may be higher than the other, one might "wing", or one might be rotated more than the other. This is also known as SICK Scapula or Scapular Dyskinesis. Scapular Dyskinesis is when the scapula or shoulder blades do not move as they should, have poor stabilization, or are imbalanced in movement. It is slightly different than SICK Scapula because it does not involve movement.
    If you're local, come see us in Costa Mesa, CA.
    Shoulder blade pain can feel like aches/spasms of muscles under the shoulder blade and are often confused as being muscle knots or trigger points. Shoulder blade pain is treatable with exercise therapy, in combination with manual therapy. Often times resolving in weeks to months, depending upon severity.
    When we wrote this description, we decided to interview a few people just like you who’ve had shoulder blade pain. They were nice enough to share their stories so we can learn from them.
    Case #1
    The most enlightening of the interviews was Becky.
    She was able to successfully return to full activity (work, yoga, and sleep) after suffering from shoulder blade pain just like you.
    Becky has been a nurse for the past 10 years. She works 5 days a week in the hospital, moving patients, charting notes, and educating her patients about how to live a healthy life.
    She’s now fully capable of rolling patients over in bed, pushing wheelchairs, and going throughout her day without neck, shoulder blade or arm pain. Sleeps like the dead at night without the assistance of medication of any kind.
    But she didn’t always feel this good…
    10 years ago, Becky was in grad school when she started to develop light headaches. Most days were mild just a light throbbing ache around the base of her head. Other days her headache would wrap around her head, towards her eyes and travel downward towards her shoulders. She got through most of the day with the help of a frequent self-massage and bi-weekly chiropractic work.
    A few years later, her symptoms began to evolve.
    Even though she feels great today, she can still recall the details like it was yesterday.
    Most days she was in intense pain from the moment she opened her eyes in the morning. Sleeping was terrible due to the fact that it felt like someone was taking a hand drill and boring a hole into her right arm bone all night, directly through her bicep.
    Throughout the day, her pain began to increase and creep down into her midback and upper trap area. The pain was so intense at times that she said she would have been “willing to cut her arm off” if it would take the pain away.
    She had to stop doing yoga, was unable to sleep at night and considered quitting her job.
    Tucking her chin and looking upward at the sky was painful. Looking down to her chest was much better, but still not pain-free. While driving, she could not turn her head to check for cars as she changed lanes. She even bought those little blindspot mirrors so she could safely change lanes.
    Sounds intense right? Yet, she was able to overcome it.
    What did she do to feel better?
    She didn’t get better overnight. She spent months having her neck adjusted and getting massages with very temporary relief.
    Eventually, she found a chiropractor specializing in focal soft tissue work help her release a nerve in her neck and shoulder. After that, she began to progressively get better. She looked forward to being able to work without pain and more importantly sleep and do yoga without any issues.
    Want to be like Becky?
    You can, you just need the correct plan of attack. The human body is truly resilient. You are just as resilient.

    Thank you once again for the excellence of care! I have a hour appointment this afternoon to access my neck, shoulder blade pain. My PT told me to ask the Doctor for a neck referral. Your timely, comprehensive video helped me understand where my pain is so when I go today I have a list of symptoms to share with my PT. I also have a better understanding of what is going on. I know I have moderate arthritis and a congenital fusion in my neck. I am excited after a year of working on my lumbar spine to start the work on my referred pain in my neck, elbows, shoulder blade area. I haven’t worked with you but I want you to know that I am impressed with your videos and please know they have given me hope during a difficult year!

    Excellent video, it really helps that you break it down into those categories of diagnosis. Apart from the chin tuck exercise for the 3rd category, do you have any other suggestions of exercises for referred pain from the neck?

    I’m fairly sure i have the third one you mentioned, referred pain. About 2 months ago now, I pulled what felt like a trap muscle up at the top doing chin ups of all things. I continued my workout fine but i started feeling discomfort later on and ever since then, i have not been the same... I did not feel it in my neck right away, but i noticed there felt like a trigger point there. I tried using the peanut roller along my neck and there is a point that is basically excruciating 😣
    I tried to do some of the same exercises as ive enjoyed before, bench press, ring dips, aand it feels like i only have 20% of my strength now, unfortunately.. I feel it when i tilt my neck back, tho not as bad lately, chest and where it attaches to my front delt, lat.

    I have good range of motion but constant discomfort. It’s going on for 3 weeks now. Affecting my sleep and overall daily activities. Would a regular doctor be able to suggest a course of action? Would an MRI provide any relevant clues to the cause or condition? This injury happened bowling and kinda feels like my arm was pulled from its socket. Please advise. Thanks

    Hello! I have been dealing with pain in my shoulder blade region, right in between my spine and shoulder blade for about a year now. I think it started from lifting weights excessively. The pain began and was only on the left side of my back, but over the past year it is now on both sides/both shoulder blades. I stretch and roll out my back regularly, I try and do exercises that activate those muscles, but honestly still feel pain there very regularly. I have gone through stages where it feels alright, and I can do body weight exercises (pull ups, push ups), but for the most part lifting causes pain. I have been in Phyiscal Therapy, acupuncture, seen chiropracters, it has only gotten worse and I haven't even been lifting weights. I don't know what to do anymore, I feel the pain in my shoulder blades almost everyday and it never seems to actually go away. I am only 21 and I am worried I may need surgery or may never be able to lift weights again. Do you guys do video sessions?

    My pain is terris minor (almost under the armpit), but I'm also getting a sharp pain in the arm itself when I turn my arm - not high in the shoulder but lower, where biceps attaches. I injured my arm/shoulder blade when I was doing rear delt pull "across the face", basically pulling the cord in front on my face.(60 lbs resistance). I was feeling ok for the first 2 times I did it (1st week), but the 3rd week is when my whole left shoulder blade feels "dislocated" and out of place. I still have mobility. I can still do everything except no more of this motion (rear delt butterfly machine).

      I’m sorry to hear that. It’s never fun being injured. This is a pretty common injury with people who lift weights, but the good news is it’s very treatable and can respond within a few weeks if everything goes correctly. We don’t have any videos on this on our channel but we have seen a lot of people with it, if you’d like some help, you know where to find us.

    Hello, i have been dealing with shoulder blade pain for about 2 months now. I am a kickboxer and calisthenics athlete. I first felt my area around the right rhomboid pop when i was armwresteling and squeezing my right lat really close to my right tricep. Now wherenever i do pullups or any type of punch with my right hand the pain gets quite bad. I feel pain in my neck, front right shoulder, sharp point of my right elbow upon extension, upper lat and at the point where my rhomboid connects to my right shoulderblade. The part under my shoulderblade hurts passively and i am able to crack my back in this area every 3 minutes. Stretching makes it worse.
    I would like to ask if there are any online options for examinations or treatment related to this pain? Thank you in advance :)

    So what do you suggest elderly people do for this kind of shoulder pain especially since we don't bend like younger people do? I have shoulder pain in all those areas and especially when I hold my arm straight out to the side and then raise it up. I can only raise my arm about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way up. I cant raise my arm all the way up above my head. I'm in a lot of pain and cant even sleep on my left shoulder at all. Im scared to death that physical therapy will make my pain even worse. Thank you

    mine comes from doing stocking all day. Have a mild 12 degree curve in the spine. So im not sure what to do about th3 pain. I have a yoga routine that helps get rid of the pain. But the work itself is the cause.. What else can i do?

    • @Performance-Place-chiropractor
      @Performance-Place-chiropractor  Год назад

      That’s a great question. I bet if we dig into what your work and rest of day is like that may find some answers. Or there is a possibility the yoga only decreases pain but does not address the root cause so it returns. Many times muscles imbalances need to be identified and a specific exercise program needs to be created to reverse them. Imbalances don’t hurt so they tend be be around a while which can make your painful stucture become painful again. If you want some help let’s set up a session

    • @seanomight5401
      @seanomight5401 Год назад

      @Performance Place Sports Care & Chiropractic I'm not sure. The pain is caused by the work I do, and the issue I mentioned I can imagine doesn't help. Standing all day caused lower back pain, which yoga really helped that. I slacked on the yoga a bit and just started back up in hopes it will help the upper back as well if I try and target the area.

    • @Performance-Place-chiropractor
      @Performance-Place-chiropractor  Год назад

      Perhaps it’s from the work that you’re doing but an analogy I like to use is your body is writing checks that it can’t cash. Meaning you don’t have enough in the physical reserves possibly to allow for the work to happen. With that being said you may need to do something to build up your reserves. I can show you how to do this but we have to figure out where the deficiencies may be first.

      @Performance Place Sports Care & Chiropractic true. I do push myself harder then I should. I'm always careful with my as I can be at least. Sucks not having g insurance atm, so I can't even see someone to figure out its the mild skoliosis, the herniated disk in the l4 l5.b, or what. but yeah I'd love to chat and see what could be the cause, and what I can do to help it. bc im starting to slightly get concerned.
