The Cheetah Project in Kuno National Park (Madhya Pradesh, India) is part of a larger effort to reintroduce cheetahs to India after they were declared extinct in the country in 1952. This initiative is spearheaded by the Indian government in collaboration with international wildlife organizations, including the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia.
Cheetahs were translocated from Namibia and later from South Africa to Kuno National Park as part of this ambitious conservation effort.
The goal is to establish a sustainable cheetah population in India, contributing to global cheetah conservation and enhancing the biodiversity of Kuno National Park.
This project is expected to have a positive impact on the park's ecosystem by restoring its historical predator-prey balance.
The project has faced challenges like ensuring the animals adapt to the new environment, mitigating potential conflicts with local wildlife, and managing risks like poaching or disease.
The project is significant as it marks the return of cheetahs to India after more than seven decades and is seen as a milestone in wildlife conservation efforts in the country.

Barbary lion and asiatic lion are exactly the same genetically and morphological the asiatic/indian lion is a result of the eastwards migration of the North African lions between 38,000 and 8,300 years , so the lions we have in gir are exactly the same as the barbary lion , it's not able to grow huge mane because of the climate.

सर जी मे कुनो नेशनल पार्क के पास का ही रहने वाला हु कुनो में अक्सर बाघ भी आ जाते है रणथंबोर नेशनल पार्क भी लगा हुआ यहाँ पर माधवराज जी सिंधिया अफ्रीका से शेर भी लाए थे उनका कुनबा काफी बढ़ गया था फिर शिकारियों ओर डकैतो के द्वारा शेर मार दिए गए कुनो का बाहरी भाग भी ज्यादा तरह जंगल भी है अभी श्योपूर सहर में चिता जा घुसा 4 दिन तक शहर के आस पास ही रहा
