    MJ-- "A little physical, a little rough."
    Media-- "MJ cried to the commissioner Stern about the Pistons and there were rule changes." (MJ was pummeled for at least 4 years and didn't complain but worked out instead).
    MJ always give credit to his teammates. Actually in his post-game interviews he blamed himself if they lost and you can hear him say "we" and "us" if they won and gave credit to his teammates. That's one of the big differences between him and the self proclaimed goat.
    Heck MJ said he's embarrassed about being called the goat. He said he owe his game to the forerunners of the game and he also said he can't be the goat because he didn't play against the yesteryear's greats like Wilt, West, Big O etc..

      @@Tangga1boy01 he always said that in interviews not just this one. Hahaha! "little"! 🤣
      MJ - they're rough defensively. We just have to hit the gym and get going. We can give it to them too.

    MJ really cared so much about basketball than anything. Basketball becomes his friend and enemy...the pain and suffering... the joy and happiness. That's what his statements is all about. He wasn't chasing Bill Russell or Kareem. He chased his own demons. He overcome the wall in his head. When he broke the wall... he never let go and he walked out the MJ way. Go out with a bang against all odds. If that's not greatness, I don't know what is.

    What Pat Riley says at the end there is very interesting. Jordan had to work with and fully accept what his teammates could and could not do. When he did, his team success exploded. That's something LeBron could never quite do which is why he had his greatest team success in Miami where Pat Riley's management forced LeBron into a system that wasn't all about him but also about what his co-stars could do. Everywhere else LeBron has been an insecure king who forces everyone around him, no matter their talents, to be a pawn. Jordan was a confident king who allowed for and aided in Pippen being a queen (in a good way going with the chess analogy), Grant a rook, Paxson a bishop, etc..

    To me, the most interesting aspect of this interview is that Pat Riley talks about the Pistons DIRTY style of play, but Pat Riley took over the Knicks a few weeks or months after this interview and COPIED THE PISTONS DIRTY STYLE OF PLAY because he knew that's the only way they could beat Jordan!! The "Bad Boy" Knicks did take the Bulls to a Game 7 in 1992 and were up 2-0 on the Bulls in 1993 so you could argue that the Knicks came the closest to knocking off the 6 Championship Bulls teams. Also, respect to Michael Jordan for admitting who he'd rather play(Portland instead of LA) in the Finals, the overwhelming majority of athletes don't answer that question because it gives "bulletin board" material/motivation to a future opponent. If Portland beat LA, they may have had a little more motivation to beat Jordan in the 1991 Finals.
    I shouldn't say this, but I will because I'm FORCED(lol) too after looking through the comments here, we shouldn't be commenting on LeBron on these old-school Jordan videos. Most of us watching these videos are old enough and/or have a great understanding of basketball to realize that LEBRON ISN'T CLOSE TO JORDAN IN ANY ASPECT except maybe longevity. We should keep videos like this focused on Jordan's greatness and dominance!!

      @Noel Gantepalli . Facts. MJ just wants to shut up and dribble. Let that man do what he wants. Leave basketball players on the court and other things to the experts who know more about those life issues than some uppity basketball player. You hit it on the head.

      Steve Alamo I think you’re missing the point here. I’m just saying Mj went about his business in a different manner. He didn’t speak about things he felt were out of his wheelhouse. Just because of your perception of how you want athletes to react to social issues doesn’t mean he has to succumb to that. Lebron put himself in a bad light just this season just for saying that stuff about china without really understanding the social injustices that occurs over there. I’m not vilifying Lebron for speaking out on social issues. If he has an opinion and he wants to share it, that’s his prerogative. In the same way, demonizing a player that just wants to do his job is wrong. It’s not his responsibility.

    • @steveyoung4584
      @steveyoung4584 4 года назад +1

      Noel Gantepalli Facts! I can take it from Brady or Curt Schilling. They know what they are saying. LeQueen and his uppity basketball homies need to stay in their lane....shut up and do what you were born to do. Leave politics to the ones who understand it. Jordan played ball and knew not to stay away. That’s why we love him...as a player.

    • @steveyoung4584
      @steveyoung4584 4 года назад

      Noel Gantepalli So Lebron put himself in a bad light in how he addressed the China social injustice situation. Got it. Jordan stays out of the fray. He’s a business person and I get it. Look what happened to Kaep for taking a knee against social injustice. So I’m not blaming a Mike. I’m just not saying his way is the right way. It’s just right for MJ. And Lebron is doing what he thinks is right. I’m not a fan of anyone being silenced.

    This is why you never heard of MJ's teammates not showing up in the big moments. Jordan embraced that team mentality and sought to empower his teammates instead of basking in his individual brilliance. Very different from "the King" who throws his teammates under the bus when the going gets rough.
