Fitting UPVC French Doors as a replacement for aluminium patio doors.
My patio doors were looking a bit tired and broken down, so we decided to pull them out and replace them with some lovely new UPVC French doors instead.
    Any questions, just fire away.

Hi Tom, thanks for watching. Yes they were custom made, but I'm pretty sure it'll be a standard size.

Doors look fab! Will have to keep John in mind when we come to replace our windows and doors - which are about ready to fall out of the house 😅

Great video sir. Worthy of far more views. The chemistry between the two of you is great. Can I ask, do I need to support the brickwork with acrow props to convert a window to French style doors. Many thanks in advance for your help 👍

Hi great video. I'v just had french doors fitted and when I close the doors (lock one door). When I just close the other door just with the latch (not lock) the bottom of the door closes but there is a gap at the top of the door, so when I pull the handle up to lock the door, the top of the door is pulled in, therefor closing and opening the door takes quite a bit effort. I suggested to the fitter this was not correct, When I only close the offending door, again the bottom touches the frame and the top is about 1 cm from the frame, could you advise please. Thank you.

Yes that is wrong and needs sorting out. We had to adjust the hinges again after a few weeks, because I was having similar problems. He totally needs to come back and adjust the hinges. It's not a hard job for him to do. Glad you liked the video.

There will always be a bit of movement on the top and bottom of doors when only on the latch, Upping the handle engages the 7 point locking system and makes doors tight and secure, 👍

@@toddbrady8540 Yes i understand that, but when the bottom of the door touches the bottom of the frame first by quite a bit, it means when pulling the handle up the closing door has to twist to close the door tightly. I notice when opening the door just a slight bit, the hinge side of the door has opened further at the top than at the bottom, This door is higher than the other although the gap outside when closed between the two doors is equal. (if this makes sence) . I have lost confidence in them. Most of the windows I had fitted were badly scratched and many fingerprints (hand prints) are in the inside of the glass when the 2 panes of glass were assembled at the factory. 5 glass panels needs replaced. The door handle is very hard to open, and has to be pulled up with quite a bit of force to engage the locking. Not a good start !.. Thank you for your reply.

How did you manager to get the doors to exactly fit the gap? Are they custom made for your gap?

You're a happy chap aren't you.The doors have been in since April and work just fine. John has been fitting these for well over 25 years, and has never had a problem.
