I've found a lot of channels from Brits struggling to find work, losing their homes, vanlifers etc and lots of over 50s struggling to keep and find jobs. There's a really good variety of simple channels by people who just have a phone and upload and I think it's good to be able to find people in similar positions. Day in the life type channels are really popular now. Many people are looking to find connection and to know they aren't alone and I get a lot of comments on my channel from people who are in similar situations and enjoy some of my content as an escapism like the hikes etc. It's also a good creative/mental outlet for me. It gives me somewhere to talk everything out and keep a bit of sanity in a mad world!
Keep at it as it’s nice to know I’m not the only one struggling with work and being 57!!! So nice to hear a point of view that isn’t Gen z or millennial or whatever.
I wish you success. I won’t dare to do a video, some things in life never leave you. But, on a side note, our government wants as many back into work but employers don’t seem to want us. Good luck
Wow 3 months and 4 thousand subscribers is really good going. Thats really good going and I wish you all the success. I’ve been in your situation and been unemployed for over a year previously and feel for you.
I am one of the viewers of your first video. Honestly i didn't know why did it pop out on my screen but i just continue watching it and keep watching your videos until now. Keep going, be it on employment issues or others, some might benefit from these ..you wouldn't know
It's certainly possible to make an income. I started my channel years ago and haven't worked much on it for a few years. However, at the time, it did well and was making me £300 per month. Now, having not touched it for a few years, it still makes me £60 per month. Just keep at it, make content you want to make, rather than what you think you should make. I'm even considering getting back into it, just to make something of it again and perhaps help towards my none existant retirement pension.
You come across as such a genuine, decent, honest guy. Really enjoying your videos. You must have a lot of experience in finance and accounting and I would be interested to hear you give advice on things you have expertise in.
Hello, keep up the good work, it does take time, i started in june 2023, now it has 69k followers, monetised and in the YTube partner programme, Good luck😁
blimey your revenue is miles higher than mine - i'm putting out tons of content and getting hardly anything back - less than $200 / month. If i could get $1000 / month that would be amazing - you've created some good content - but i think maybe you've got a bit lucky with this channel...well done to you 🙂
Just asking for people’s opinions here with my situation. I’m 46 and my post was made redundant, I was offered a similar job which I accepted but not enjoying it. I have 12 weeks in which I could still take redundancy. Should I stay in a job which I do not enjoy and is causing stress or do I go and take the money and try and get another job?
@@WeFade2Grey bad advice these days; if you take redundancy you will struggle to get another job. They want to off-load you in your fifties and no-one else wants you either.
I'm 44 and recently made redundant from a job in the town where I live. I tried redeployment to another plant that's 41 miles away and not only were things feeling so equally bleak there but the commute was awful! There's too much traffic on the roads now and too many idiots wanting to do 90 to 100mph down the motorways. I was really starting to question it because I was so anxious about the commute, especially with winter coming. Anyway I was leaving one night to come home and somebody for some reason didn't notice the standing traffic and flew into the back of me writing my car off! It was the push over the edge that made me take redundancy. I have three interviews this coming week and not being stuck working 41 miles away makes it a lot easier to attend as many interviews as possible. It was a big relief to get rid of the stress of that job even if I hate being unemployed.
Yeah, trying to find a job at the moment sucks to put it bluntly. I have tried and thought about creating a channel using my Supernatural spin off fan fic but im not a very good narrator and any decent AI's to do are generally behind a pay wall which is no help, add to that probably need someone to go through each episode and probably correct a lot of my typos etc... lol probably looks like ot was written by someone in year 6 lol. However i think the story has merit but the most i can do is put it out as the chicken scratch that i have and hope the reader understands the story im trying to tell.
Hmm, looking at some of your videos especially the one by what I think is the Bridgewater canal you live in a part of Manchester that I lived 10’years before moving here to Northern Ireland with its cheaper houses. Since 2014 (as I visit friends from time to time) I’ve noticed prices there have gone parabolic. Is one option just not sell up, bank the £200k or whatever and move further north or south a little bit where semis are still say £250k or something like that?. Then just have an early gig at 55?.
Hi Jonathan, I've noticed your comments on a few of my videos and decided to check out your channel. Really cracking content shame you stopped, any plans to restart? DM me contact details in my bio.

Nice sentiment but your 50s isn’t a ‘golden age’. You’re too young to retire but too old to be bothered with all the bullsh!t. You’re old enough to remember what the world used to be like. You’ve lived long enough to see your culture and society destroyed before your very eyes. Worst of all is the aging process - no amount of exercise, weight loss, etc, etc can reverse this.
Love the channel mate. I'm watching it now as I work my regular sunday part time job, on top of my regular monday to friday.

Question...is work fxxxxxx worth it? 😂😂✌️
NO! Definitely not. Neither is trying to work for yourself. Too many hurdles.
Agreed, not worth it - that’s why I left for good and posted my story on it
It's worth it for business owners...but not 99% of people
