I have known Tim Purcell for 30 years I use to be the F.O.H. I was blown away the first time I watched their performance: Outdoors, at a Taco Joint, with a parking lot and traffic streaming by in the background. Tim Purcell, Maggie Adams, and Sammi Purcell, aided by the rest of the band, made vocal magic. Both girls were teenagers, but sang like polished professionals. I hope Steve Stills has had the privilege of viewing this masterful gem. If not, he should.
As a musician who (for a time) earned a living playing music, and even experienced being part of writing and recording an actual vinyl album, the fun for me watching and listening to this band is paying attention to just how good they ALL are. As someone on YT once said about them, "There are no passengers in this band." No one is being carried or pulled along by the rest. Think about that!
From a singer’s perspective, it doesn’t matter what age you are, when you’re a singer and you get to sing this beautiful song (written with superb harmonies), and sing it with pitch perfect singers (even better pitch perfect family members), it’s the best feeling in the world!!!! Trust me, I sing a Capella with my three daughters, we’ve done Helplessly Hoping and my husband cries every time we sing. My 14 year old is drawn to a lot of music from the 60’s and 70’s because they were great songs back then. That’s why I think the Foxes love this song.
Each night before I go to bed I grab my phone and earphones and get my daily dose of Foxes and Fossils! A day without the Foxes and Fossils is like a day without sunshine!❤️❤️
I found this band less than a year ago, I immediately regreted not knowing about them a decade ago. I would have traveled to see them live. I hope I get that chance someday!
Once again, thanks from their fans! They are such a rare collection of dedicated and talented musicians. Yes, they deliver with a dedication and feeling for the music. Harmony is pitch-perfect, as you point out. I hope they look back fondly with love upon the moments in their lives when they recorded these. They gave a beautiful gift to all of us. Love ya Sammie, Maggie, Tim, and all the guys in the band!
I am always amazed every time I watch this that there are people sitting there eating and talking, seemingly not paying attention! I would be sitting there with my elbows on my knees, and my mouth hanging open!
I’ve heard endless praise for Foxes and Fossils. It’s ridiculous how much praise is lavished on them. But regardless of what anyone says. They deserve every bit of it.
Looks like I started something. I've seen all of these before and they are amazing. So glad you guys are enjoying Foxes and Fossils as much as their dedicated fans. Great job guys!
So glad you guys are seeing and talking about F and F!! Try the Landslide video next, and the new Dedicated to the One You Love as well! Both are soooooo wonderful!! Thanks for reviewing the group!
I am so glad to see this band getting some much deserved recognition. Foxes and Fossils are out of Smyrna, Georgia, not far from me, but I didn't discover them until the girls were away at college. Therefore, I never got to see them live. Since stumbling on them on RUclips, I just keep coming back to them. Although I listen to all sorts of stuff on RUclips, it's always pure joy to come back to Foxes and Fossils.
Thank you, guys!!! I'm a "quite new" Foxes And Fossils' fan from Brazil, I don't remember how exactly I discover them (it was by the RUclips, of course, but I can't remember the first reference of them). Amazing job, guys! Please keep safe, and keep rockin'!!! 🤘🤘🤘
I've followed F&F for about a year now and I always amazed by thier talent and spot on harmonizing. As soon as you think you have a favorite vocal as far as the girls go, you'll hear another song that the other just nails it. Sammie, Maggie and Chase are just awesome!!!
I’m first generation to CSN (and Y). I vividly remember hearing “Carry On” from “Déjà Vu” whilst in a nightclub on a skiing holiday in early 1970. But, Foxes and Fossils are the BEST. You guys have so much more to discover. I’ve been a fan of Foxes and Fossils for several years now and they are ADDICTIVE. Their new stuff is AMAZING. Check out “Dedicated to the One I Love” a very recent release which is more than brilliantly sublime in every way.
F&F CSN covers touch your heart so deeply and take us back to this incredible music era. I feel so calm and satisfied inside after hearing them. I can see it touches you in the same way. We grew up with such incredible music and it’s great to hear F&Fs appreciation of it. Thank you for sharing this.
F&F are my favorite group!! Honestly! Been listening to them for several years and I never get tired of hearing them! Wish they were preforming full time again but glad they are back doing some!!!
F&F are amazing! Such clean vocals, such precise instrumentation, and all with a mini-mall parking lot and highway in the background, while they take up 4 tables' worth of the patio dining area! I mean, they don't _look_ like someone from whom you'd expect that professional-level, rich, faithful-to-the-original cover. Tim (in the middle) looks like your primary care physician, breezing into the exam room in lab coat, scrubs and sneakers telling you with a brisk tone and smile, "OK, Mr Parrish, we got your results back, everything's looking good!" Some of the other Fossils look like somebody's Uncle Earl, lately retired from the railroad. The Foxes, at least in the years shown in this video and the previous one, just look like typical high school girls dressed up for a school dance, and you'd expect no sounds to be emerging from them other than pointless giggling to each other about some inside joke, usually involving a boy. No way they'd be up there flawlessly belting out harmonies of songs decades older than they are! And with the light bobbing and serious, cooly-pleased glances at each other, like professional singers keeping the rhythm, casually leaning into the mic at just the precise second to deliver the well-rehearsed handful of notes called for at that point. Then they lean back, expressions of seasoned pros resting on their young faces, still bobbing, waiting for their next turn. Just another night on stage, like generations of vocalists before them, paying their dues out on the road. Amazing!
I am a first generation CSN fan. Found Foxes and Fossils by accident on RUclips and fell in love with their music. Brings back a lot of memories. Nice to know that people from within the music profession appreciate them too.
I agree, they could be performing in a stadium. I mentioned once before that all they need is an original hit song and I could see the full stadium thing, after the world gets back to normal of course. Great job reviewing them guys.
I prefer F&F to Linda Ronstadt's version myself, but I like the Hollies' the best here. So much energy and Graham Nash's high harmonies will pin your ears back; some of his best vocal work imo.

I love this band so much. I just found them about 2 months ago. I must have listened to Judy Blue Eyes about 250-300 times (sometimes, 10 or more times in a row). They give me chills. @@rutherfordhaze I would kill to have been there. The frustration is... I live in ATL and didn't find out about them until they stopped performing. Thank goodness they get together to record.
Just yesterday Foxes and Fossils recorded Angel From Montgomery as a tribute to John Prine. You will be amazed once again!
Foxes and Fossils are an incredibly talented band that do covers across all generations. I would love to catch a live concert. They are talking about doing a possible 1 time concert to be recorded and posting it at a sight. Let's hope !
