Late night shows are the worst. A famous comedian in France has launched his SNL-like program a while back, I'm too scared to watch it because it might ruin everything he's ever done in my eyes, retrospectively
@@guillaumelagueyte1019 the only Late Night comedian that I think is actually funny is Conan O'Brien. And that is probably only in relation to the other late night hosts. Combine late night awfulness with conservative politics and you have a recipe for nuclear-grade cringe.

Another part of it is good comedians are often both really smart and empathetic. Doing non-subversive, right-wing comedy, is not smart, you often have to overlook the truth, or empathetic, being predicated on certain groups or traits being good or acceptable and others not.

He saw a trans person being happy, he's now panicking and screaming because he thinks America has been destroyed. He also supported gutting the healthcare, so he couldn't get a therapist to learn healthy coping strategies. And he opposed mass transit, which is why he's running across six lanes of traffic in a panic.

@@magnusallmighty5000 It would still work, because fascists live in a fantasy world where America is facing destruction. Also, fascists have a tendency to think mental health care is "brainwashing" or "unmanly" so the chances that a fascist would get mental health care is slim.
Plus not to mention, they still have serious issues with trans people and anyone else for that matter that doesn't fit neatly into the status quo, so they would still be upset about the happy trans person.

He jokes about anything that is considered bad taste, or things that most comedians won't touch. (For this very reason) He just doesn't care. He's part of hollywood, and he went on the golden globes to trash hollywood.. he's in many hollywood movies. Have you see his pics from when he was in a band in the early 80s? Because he finds Shane funny. Shane was riffing (badly to be fair) with his friend on a then small podcast and it got taken into a media controversy because he got on SNL. It's totally fine if Shane isn't your taste, but it isn't a sin to like him.

Depends what you mean by "political". If you mean literally it can be funny, if you mean the colloquial term it can also be funny sometimes, but for different reasons. So actually it doesn't matter and it's all subjective.
