I taught English in Perugia and Naples throughout the 80s. I worked at private language schools (British Institute, Wall St., etc.) I even worked at the Accademia Aeronautica a Pozzuoli (the Italian Air Force Academy) without any credentials whatsoever, except having a knowledge of English better than those who I taught. Has it changed so much? Sounds like it's all about money today. Makes me so sad.
It is not what have but what you know I know people have no knowledge about their major but they have certificates while other have no degree and having great knowledge I know a person who has passed away before a few years speaking Arabic English French and Bangla and he did not even enter an academic institute to learn these languages

I have a university degree in teaching English and 10 years experience. Do I really need to take the CELTA? I mean I'm afraid of paying such amount of money and see what I've already seen at university. Should I just go for the DELTA?
@@inmyplace9777 CELTA is an entry-level teaching certification that offers, more or less, the same theoretical background with teaching modules offered in Unis. In several European countries, the case is that many language schools will ask for a CELTA rather than a uni degree, although the teaching degree will definitely be considered a plus. The decision of taking the CELTA course should be based on where you want to work as a teacher. Should you decide to go for it, my advice would be to forget the way you've been teaching for those years and that's because it will probably not be compatible with the way they ask you to teach. CELTA's teaching method is purely based on the communicative approach and you will be assessed based on how well you deliver your lessons based on that approach. In the end, I would recommend you to go for it. You won't learn anything that you haven't been taught at the uni, but at least you will end up with a world-renown certification that may or may not help you get a teaching job. Hope I helped.

If you want to live as an expat you have to know how to deal with both.
I'm gonna do the online course and the part-time option, the intensive seems like too much for me
I wouldn't recommend the online one. We did it for only two days and then we all requested to go face 2 face
@@firdawsboukrab2963 I'm in the midst of it now and really enjoying it so far
@@clau_sing_ really? Cool! I couldn't take sitting next to the computer from 9 to 5:30 Dx but good luck!!!!!

Thank you for sharing this video
Very full of information.
Keep up the amazing work Sofie! Looking forward to seeing more videos from you :)
Honestly, this is what I've been searching for. I've got a clear view of the course, thanks, chumps ❤
A dobut, do they provide admissions throughout the year?
Sophie, thank you very much for this video, you really helped me a lot to decide to take this course but first I have to improve my English, I dont feel confident yet to teach anybody or to answer the pre interview task.
Couldn't stop watching because of your perfect teeth.
Thanks. That's an inspiring video☺
Thanks a lot Sophie!!
Thanks for sharing your experience 🌷🌷
Thank you for the video
Hi, Sofie.
I'm Ronei from Brazil.
I've been teaching English in public schools here in Brazil since 2003. I went to college to train as a teacher. I was wondering if you would like to discuss the differences between training to teach in schools and training to teach in private English courses or one on one?
Thank you. Great video. So thorough.
Thank you for sharing 🤗💕
great video!! I will be doing the same here in France
Hey Sofie! Thanks for the detailed review dear 😇 .. please tell me can an iPad do as my PC isn’t working properly atm! I’m planning to enrol in Celta soon please reply!
I'm so daunted by the amount of stuff you have to fit in in the few hours in the evenings and at the weekends. I'm thinking a one day a week option would suit me better.... I have seen this option available but I'd have to do it in my home country.
thanks for making this video!
Thank you so mush for your tips))
Amazing advice and insights. What grammar books did you read to help you do the course?
Thanks for the video! I was wondering how much reading there is. I am nervous about that because I worked very hard to get my BA, but it takes me a little extra time to read.
Can you please please please do a little mini series or even just a video on the grammar and all the things you had to learn about functions and grammar or is all that stuff covered in the first assignment you had to do before arriving to the course?
Samantha Mable covered in the precorse task! I studied and learned it to complete the assignment
Hey Sofie. Do you realise how valuable is the information you have shared in this video? Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Would you pls talk a bit more in detail about the questions you were asked in the interview , before you could take up the CELTA? What were your answers?
Darn I had to rewind little bits sometimes because I got lost in your eyes 🙈 Anyways, I'm a dutch 30yo guy, lived in Australia for 2 years and received many compliments regarding my english skills. Made me rethink about my life and that I should do something with it. Always worked in sales/logistics, so was a bit scared to take a step to become a teacher (eventhough I'm a pretty confident speaker) and going abroad again, but this vid was just the last little push I needed, thanks! 👌
hi Sofie!! how are you? thanks for the great video!!! I just got accepted at International House in London and the skype interview haha was so rigorous! I start in September and getting a few books next week that they recommended me! Im doing it part-time! lazy me! haha .... thanks again for the advice! and what to expect!
1200 £ right now, so, even more expensive. Nice to hear your experience.
Please can you tell us what types of schools you teach in? Qualifications worked towards of your students for which you prepared them for and their age etc? Private or public schools? I want to do the same in France. Thanks!!
So .much i love it
Peace be with you Sophie , your video was very helpful and full of many information . That what I was seeking for. I thank you so much Sophie .
By the way,,,
(Salta) is name of a dish in Yemen.
The same pronunciation but different spilling.
If you've studied linguistics, the language that CELTA asks you to analyze and teach is trivial.
Hi thanks for the information
I just stumbled upon your video and this gave me a clear perspective of what I need to expect. I just made a decision to change my career path and...wow. i need to get myself together and prepare for this. also what do you think about CELT-P and CELT-S?
Good break down
