    2:15 No, it is not a surge protector. It says it is but there are no surge protector inside. There are several videos about that specific adapter. It is extremely dangerous and can kill you. For example the shutters shown are fake. A real shutter opens only if you put both prongs at the same time. Those open just by sticking something in one. It also has no ground connection and you can get several inputs out a the same time and they are live.
    Surges are very short voltage spikes. It does not mean that the power occasionally is 280 V.
    The other adapters you present are also dangerous as you can put the plug incorrectly so that one prong is outside.

    For a hair dryer designed to operate at 110 to 125V, would I need a voltage converter?

    Hi! Traveling to India from the US...taking my Nikon, iPhone, a portable charger, mini photo printer, etc...what do you suggest I get...would the bestek be my best bet? Thanks!
