  • Orange watercolor is such an underrated paint!
Many watercolor artists look down at orange as it's a color that you can easily mix with yellow and red, which is true. However, some single pigment oranges are irresistibly beautiful!
In today's video I'm swatching all my orange watercolors: stay with me until the end to discover the ones that have made me fall in love!
Many of these oranges belong to watercolor sets that I have reviewed in previous videos:
Paul Rubens 24 tubes: • Paul Rubens 24 Tubes |...

I hope you will enjoy this video! if you do, don't hesitate to like and subscribe! That would mean a lot to me :)

Hiya Elisabetta, The Schminke Transparent Orange is very popular with professional botanical artists when used as an undewash, as it imparts a lovely glow. The Maimeri is a gorgeous colour and Maimeri make up about 70% of my colours. I don't think that Maimeri are expensive especially when compared to Daniel Smith which are overpriced and in my opinion overated. I buy mine in their 12ml tubes from Ken Bromley's here in England and they ship worldwide very quickly.
The Daler Rowney artists quality Warm Orange is absolutely gorgeous and as you like the Maimeri you will like this one. It's a strong and transparent pigment, PO 73, and it glows on the paper, wonderful. Jenna Rainey has just completely replaced ALL of her colours and replaced them exclusively with Maimeri Blu. I was so happy when I saw that she had done it, maybe now Maimeri will get the recognition that they truly deserve. Have a look on her channel Elisabetta, she's got two videos about it one is choosing her new colours for her palette and setting it up. Thanks very much and take care, Ciao. x

Hello David! Nice to talk about Maimeri because I completely agree that it’s an underrated brand! I don’t have a set because their sets are insanely expensive, but as it’s quite a common brand here I like to buy tubes here and there (especially when they are on sale!) to slowly build a collection! I follow Jenna Rainey and I was really surprised to see her new choice with Maimeri! By the way I love gouache by Maimeri!! It’s excellent!
Once again, I definitely need to try Daler Rowney. Now I’m too curious…
Thank you again for your comment, I always enjoy reading them. Take care you as well, ciao, Elisabetta. XX

Greetings! Love these comparisons. I just started watercolor end of last September and slowly adding to my paint collection. One can spend a small fortune on paint and still not get the right hue. This is so very helpful. Thank you so much.

Thank you Anneke for your kind comment! I only buy when I find a special offer or coupon…also I say to myself this is not more expensive than a sport! Think of tennis …so I feel less guilty! I have a small monthly budget that I devote to art supplies, so I have a limit 😂 I wish you a lot of happy painting and art supplies experimenting ❤️

Thank you for your comment! Maimeri is expensive but I only buy it when there is a discount, and tubes are quite large…worth trying!

Hello! I love oranges and have a lot of them. My favorites are PO73 Sennellier orange and Pyrrol orange from Daniel Smith , both gorgeous, the former more intense, the latter more delicate. Transparent pyrrol orange from Daniel Smith, made up withPO71, is also lovely. And then, Hokkaido orange from Gallo, PY216, is an slightly earthy, unique orange. Thank you for your videos

If you want to try other quin burnt oranges, I recommend hurrying up- that pigment has been discontinued. Will you ever try Roman Szmal watercolours? They’re made in Poland and very affordable from Artemiranda 😊

I know it’s an excellent paint! And yes, I have bought a box some time ago from Jackson’s during a sale! Wait and see! Thanks for letting me know about burnt orange, so sad…I will try to stock some. Have a lovely week Juliette. Thanks again for your comment :)
