I enjoyed this immensely! It makes me want to hear Elton with just his piano. Not sure what you used to get the isolated tracks. Was this on a surround 5.1 or Rock Band type of source? I like playing around with Gold Wave but it won't do this. can think of many songs I'd like to remix like this, especially Tonight from Blue Moves. thanks for posting this! jj
I think just equalizing in a certain way and panning. or putting the clean instrumental on top of this and polarizing but not sure you’d get it that close
@@HeiTheDarkReaper In radio stations, we could get close to this by reversing the phase of the recording. It would result in a mono mix, but we could tweak it to eliminate the backing track and bring the vocal to the front.
You can try using software like Izotope RX7. Izotope is able to separate four elements: vocals, bass, drums and the other instruments in the mix using machine learning (AI). It's not perfect, but it works when you want to sing/play along with a song but don't want to use any karaoke recordings or something. This guy isn't using some software or anything, he's somehow getting the original multitracks from the recording sessions.
I used to do this on an Analog 8 Track Tape Recorder way back in the early 00's. So... I'm positive that there's software available just for things like this, isolating sections of pre recorded audio.

This information went over my head, so I looked up stems 96kHz and read a lot about turning music in in that format to help a mastering recording artist make master tapes. are you talking about MASTER TAPES of Elton's vocal tracks? (I would think not, but I just want to understand) Are you a recording engineer of sorts? The quality of the vocal track does, indeed sound like high quality.
He probably got them for use on a project which a music Supervisor asked for and was not supposed to release it to the public but of course he misused the trust they placed in him and did it anyway.
