Guys don't lose hope...we'll definitely win this battle. Remember one thing...don't try to forcefully stop the imaginary thoughts, because WHAT U RESIST, PERSISTS. So just let ur thoughts flow with ease. I know it doesn't come easy but please don't put too much stress on urself. I'm also struggling with the same problem(a.k.a maladaptive daydreaming) nd its vry intense too, and also never revealed this to my parents. ITS A PRETTY LONG MESSAGE, BUT ITS DEFINITELY WORTH UR TIME, READ TILL END. So yeah these r some things that help me with this condition 1. I set an alarm for every 30 min. So even if i get carried away with my thoughts from the parallel universe, the ringing of the alarm brings me back to reality. And i start doing my tasks with full focus or atleast I try to. 2. I meditate to calm nd serene nature music ( also bija mantra, gayatri mantra, om namo narayana, harivarsanam song). As a beginner u'll feel like the unwanted thoughts getting crammed up in the brain, but be strong and let the thoughts flow like a river without fighting hard with it. Believe in urself U can do it!! 3. Try not to isolate urself for longer periods of time ( I know its vry hard but, sweetheart u need to do this for urself). Engage urself with activities that feel interesting and make u curious, talk with frnds nd fam, if u r a student, do grp studies, u get what im tryna say right!!! 4. Make a simple plan for ur day ahead in the morning ( planning time mustn't exceed 15 min). Just a set of to do tasks list nd everytime u complete a designated task reward urself with something that makes u feel happy n comfortable ( it shouldn't be something that triggers our day dreaming) and get back to complete the next on. Set reminders if u need. 5. TRY NOT TO OVERTHINK ND DAYDREAM WHEN U GO TO BED. I mean it's the worst possible time ever, like my brain always comes up with intense imaginary thoughts when I'm about to sleep. Pls Gently try to refrain from doing this nd u can distract urself by meditation, doing moon salutation, stretching anything that doesn't trigger us to the maladaptive daydreaming shit. 6. Choose a powerful word ( I use "om namashivaya"...u can use anything) and say it everytime u feel like u r drifting away into ur fantasy world. Say that word and stop those unnecessary thoughts creeping in ur mind 7. U can also schedule some time for u to daydream!!😘😝...be cautious not to go overboard. Its only bad when it goes beyond the healthy limits so...yeah this is kinda like a self care routine. But choose a convenient time at which u'll not lose ur reality nd go too deep into it( ndwaste half ur day). Slowly practice this nd u'll become mindful of ur practices. MOST IMPORTANTLY FRNDS ALL THESE METHODS ARE SOMETHING THAT I EXPERIMENTED WITH MYSELF AND IT DEFINITELY HAS WORKED. WHILE PRACTICING, START OFF SLOWLY U DON'T NEED TO RESTRICT UR MIND TOO HARD IN THE BEGINNING, ALWAYS PROGRESS SLOWLY AND STEADILY. SLOWLY BRING CHANGES TO UR LIFESTYLE SO THAT IT DOESN'T AFFECT UR MIND, DON'T PUT TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON URSELF. REMEMBER HUMAN WILL POWER HAS UNFATHOMABLE STRENGTH. BEST OF LUCK, KEEP DOING WHAT UR DOING DON'T CARE BOUT END RESULTS. U R MUCH STRONGER THAN U THINK U ARE! SENDING YOU ALL LOVE ND LIGHT!!💛🌅
