I own one of these sonatas with the v6 03 year, they are f**king great I have done pretty much everything here you see and more. those v6 on them are pretty tough.

These are actually cheap as dirt. I got a 2002 trajet van with the same engine. I got it with inspection, tags, multiple taxes (few hundred right there), they had to do a fair bit on the suspension and at least 2 new tires, new plugs and leads and all up it was US$3000 with 101 thousand miles on it. Had even been repainted a year beforehand (vans had shit paint). But you'd only pay maybe US $4500 for this sonata. 173hp for that engine.

Labor & Parts to T.Belt Job Costs Almost As Much As A Good Used Eng.Had the 2.4 ,4 Cyl.Was Good Till It Had About 135-140,000 MLS. Then Start Falling Apart ,4 Bangers Are A Bitch to Change Timing Belt,& If Pendulum Isn't Set Correctly on It,Ur Next T.Belt Breaks Prematurely.Only Former Kia or Hyundai Mechs.Know the Secret to Set the Pendelum Correctly.To Chge. the Starter on V-6 ,Entire CV HALF SHAFT On One Side Has To Come Out.Crap Mtrs .To Work On Yrs.98-2005.
They are but get a tiburon hell of alot better and alot funner and they look alot better i put over 200k on mine change the oil and they will keep on ticking mine did and i drove them , put alot of work into them and they were some of the funniest and best cars ive owned

nah those particularly had around 170 2.7L V6.....the newer body (the angular headlight/taillights) had the 230-240hp 3.3L, close to the Accord V6 of that era...
It's 2.7 . 3.3 is the newer body style
That is a 2.7 with 171 horsepower. My Brother had an 04. Exactly the same as this 05. Fantastic car.

Actually this is when they were good, then they went shit after 2006. This is actually a rebadged Mitsubishi Galant. I have the Kia Optima in the same year (pretty much a Galanr) and that car has took daily beatings for 30,000 miles and still isn't phased after 2006 Hyundai/Kia no longer needed help from mitsubishi and made their own engines and immediately had catastrophic engine failures in 2006-2007 and had a lot of recalls the Hyundai sonatas and kia optimas from 2000 to 2005 were pretty much the best cars Hyundai/Kia ever put their badge on, even though they didn't make that car
Um no they were great then i had a tiburon gt, it had the same motor and a six speed 230,xxx on it and i got rear ended i beat the shit outta it a week before the junkyard came to get it redline clutch dumps and beat the shit outta it tried to blow it up and she wouldnt pop best engines around as long as u keep up with oil changes , i seen some elentras with over 400k fleet vehicles

Good cars, if they weren’t so ugly lol. And love the ebrake action! Had an 01 Elantra... that was a champ that didn’t wanna give up... until cost of repair exceeded car value lol.
the 08-10 models look good. they got rid of the weird head lights, cleaned up the lines over all, and gave the rear end a more modern and stylish look. The V6 in those years pushes out anywhere from 250 to 272 HP depending on what year/what source you're getting your numbers from. Those "ugly" years though, a lot of the 4 bangers basically have a mitsubishi 4g63 powerplant. You can get a cheap turbo kit for a lancer evo and slap it on and it'll make like 500hp on stock internals.
Its a 2.7 v6 same one in the tiburons i beat the shit outta the blaxk on in my thumbbail awesome running motors and they last good too
