- Also called mountain coasters, these gravity-operated rides installed on a hill or mountain utilizes a track made of stainless steel tubes. The sleds are designed to not come off of the track during the ride and riders control their speed by applying or releasing brakes connected to levers on each side of the sled.
This Wiegand alpine coaster opened in 2018 and features four lift hills and tunnels as well as an amazing LED lighting package along the full length of track.
Check out the nighttime on-ride video we posted to see what it looks like to ride this alpine coaster after dark: www.youtube.co...

Great ride if your favorite part of a rollercoaster are the lift hills.
At least you got an answer to the question of whether a bear pees in the woods.
😂😂😂
It’s an alpine coaster, the point of it is the scenery not big thrills
@@jackh.9760 Alpine coasters are supposed to be thrilling too, not a snooze fest
What a fantastic feat of engineering to create something that promises again and again that something awesome is just about to happen, but doesn’t.
This thing looks like it was designed by the fun police. Every time it started to look fun they put a stop to it.
Thank you~ lol
As I sit here watching tis vid, my inner dialog was.. why do they keep stopping it? Another lift hill? hahaha
I'd rather a shorter but more fun mountain coaster for sure.
Anton
turb06 exactly. It’s infuriating to watch. They never really build any speed either.
like for real
but i think being on that ride is a whole nother feeling i mean the nature is next level there
EVERY TIME EVERY TIME I WATCHED THE WHOLE VIDEO
I am a full-grown adult who has health issues that make adrenaline difficult to handle, so I don't get to ride many rides or coasters. I see a lot of people complaining about it stopping or being slow. I had an INCREDIBLE time on this coaster. It was exactly what I needed to feel safe and comfortable while having a blast. I rode twice in a row even in the pouring rain. If you want a thrill ride that isn't scenic or self-driven, ride a regular rollercoaster. This was invented for the rest of us. The scenery was fantastic and the ride was beyond fun! I'd ride every day if I could.
This video is deceiving. It's quite fast and very fun.
Riding this in real life, I didn't notice how long the lift hills were. This video makes the ride look kinda boring, but it was awesome fun!
90% going up, 10% sort of going down, slowly.
Try watching at 25% normal speed.
@@christosvoskresye if you managed that then you're just wrong 🤣🤣🤣
I want to go on something more thrilling than Alpine Coaster 1
Yes
@@toobasicbot2000 you could've just liked it
hrt sgwr i have no idea what you just said
I appreciate the scenery, but this has to be the most boring coaster in existence!
problem here is that they cut most of the nice scenery down , so even that has gone boring .
Yeah, you really have to ride these to get the appeal of them. Videos don't do them justice.
AMEN TO THAT!!!!
Boring but dangerous. People get killed on them all the time, because since the riders can control their own speed with the hand brake, you always have people breaking too much, and then getting clobbered by someone coming down behind them. All the boring slow downs are put in place so they can make sure people who are doing so ahead of you have cleared the way, but accidents still happen.
This video made me appreciate the structure and the brains behind building roller coasters
Pretty lit 🔥
Legends say the roller coaster is still going up.
This looks like it was designed by a guy who wears a helmet on an exercise bike
Sahil
Especially configured for America.
A country where hot coffee mugs have to be labeled "Caution hot".
Pride and ignorance are akin.
Vanessa legal purposes to protect the company but yes thats the biggest problem with america!! smh
I love a coaster that’s all lift hills.....said no one ever
In amongst all the funny comments, your one made me laugh lol
😲OMG! I couldn't continue watching it after 4 mins of constant stop n go😲 every 30 seconds! 😲😲
Easily among the best coasters in North America and likely the world
Best roller coaster around
Like everyone I've got my limits when it comes to coasters. They're supposed to be thrill rides. Seems like the biggest thrill was getting off the thing so you can go onto the spinning teacups.
Rode this in the spring at night. Full speed down. It can be alot of fun if you dont go slow. Yes there is alot of lift time but I did enjoy the rides down. No one was in front of me so it made it faster. I also tried the one at Ober Gatlinburg and by far the worst most painful experience on any coaster and found out the hard way if you catch up to someone it slammed me to a stop. Not to mention the track was completely misaligned. I like mountain coasters, but for the cost it's just not warranting many more tries.
That looks great, long ride too...
What it says
“ largest mountain coaster on the planet”
What it actually is
“The largest disappointment you will ever experience on this planet”
Actually it isn’t that fast so not disappointing
You mean longest ? Nobody said anything about height.
Or even width
1:50 3:57 6:34 8:44 when all the lift hills are done
Edit: thx for 1 like

How dare you do that
This is loads of fun
Looks like it. I want to go on it.
"I just wanna get off!" (Sobs) "It's sooooooooo boring!"
*I must ride this!!*
There must be some haunting spots up in the hill, nice ride
Probably the most flattering review this ride has ever received
What a peculiar coaster...just as things get going it stops again!
This particular coaster bloooooows. Jesus Christ. Who designed this?
I still think an alpine coaster with a zero g roll would be awesome
Uhh.... no
@@deepfriedmackerel2263 Why wouldn't it be fun?
brandan 209 it’s hard to maintain and plus the safety
Lmao
Lolol YES that's what this needed
This has more lift hills than an Arrow mine train! And the block brakes throughout are really odd. I can sort of understand what's going on: I assume since they didn't have a really high mountain to work with, they simply repeated the trip up and down different parts of the hillside. It's a nice long ride, but one of the strangest mountain coasters I've ever seen.
Seems like more of a sightseeing ride than a thrill ride.
"Congratulations you have reached the top"...*enters another lift hill*
They could have made this so much better!
I know it doesn't look like it, but these things are actually probably the most dangerous roller coasters in the world. Since riders can control their speed with the hand break, every couple of years you end up with someone over applying the break, and another sled ramming into them, in a lethal accident.
There was a mountain coaster at the park city mountain resort but different than that. I rode it on Labor Day like 4 or 5 times and it was fun!
Listen guys, I've been on this coaster, sure the lift hills suck, but the actual coaster parts are very very fun, you have to ride this to see for yourself, the video doesn't do it justice
What an anti climatic boring ride that is!
So relaxing!
Thanks for paying to ride this dud so we don't have to. After all that lifting i was thinking it must be one hell of a down hill. I mean how you climb more than go downhill. Are the laws of physics different on this hill? Was Dr. Who involved in its construction.
Edging... coaster-adjacent style!
I nearly fell asleep watching this. 😔
Walking mountain trails is now a thing of the past lol
やっぱり海外はぶっ飛んでる!こんなんふつーに作る発想が凄い
Up a little bit, down a little bit, up a little bit, down a little, up little bit, down a little bit.
Up a LOT, down a little bit.
this is the smoothest alpine coaster in gatlinburg
You should visit bobejaanland at belgium there is a triple lounchcoaster but with a special feature everyone gets to vote to go forward or backwards the ride is called fury just putting it out there
9:41 ride. 9 going uphill. :41 of fun
This ride stops just when it gets good. Wow.
The main idea for a coaster in the woods with some small (mountains) hills is great. BUT during the ride there are too many stops and lifts. If you´re looking for a thrillride..... this would be the last place you have to look for. When I show it to my nephew, they asked me where the thrill was. Unfortunately I had to say "I do not know".... pls think about a new track with less lifts an more up and down in the track.
Thanks a lot for the presentation
The thrill comes from knowing that a branch could fall at any moment, hitting the exposed and tensioned return side of the lift cable, causing it to slice your head right off. How was this design approved?!
Never been on it just like watching people on roller coasters ngl

If chewing a whole 5-pack of Fruit Stripe gum were a roller coaster.
Guy, it supposed to a slow ride where to take pictures or something but yeah a baby could sleep on this ride
So having been on alpine slides in the past, this doesn’t do justice the kind of speed you feel like you’re riding at. The big difference is that the one’s I’ve ridden aren’t tracked like this, they’re loose sleds on wheels whereas this is upstopped to the track. You control the brake yourself and hitting those turns too fast might throw you out. Super long lift hills but these kinds of things usually you have to take a ski lift to the top for each run so you’re really getting 4 for the price one
This seems like my kind of coaster lol
Ive been on dis ride
Still heading up the lift hill but seems like a good first coaster. apparently from reading the other comments it's very boring and slow,so in theory wouldn't that be perfect for someone who's just testing the waters of rollercoasters?
I rode this on my birthday, and it's really intense through the helixes, as long as you accelerate.
This thing would be so awesome if it was just one continuous lift to the very top. The numerous lifts inbetween serve as excellent buzz kills.
So are the block brakes here intended to only have one car in each section?
What a burn!!!! 90% of this is going uphill!! You go all that way to "the top" and only ride down about 2:00!! They actually spent money to build that??? Holy shit, even my grandmother would be pissed off after that!!
これめっちゃ乗ってみたい。
Doesn't look very exciting, but you can't beat the scenery and terrain.
Looks like the ride was installed in reverse.
What are all the booths for? Are they lookout booths? Or are they just there for the theme of the ride?
I want to get off Rocky Top Mountain.
Way too much time spent on the lift hills... You'd think that the beginning would be at the top of the mountain for a fun fast winding way down... Major design flaw .
Well good part is it is not too fast Fast rides are not fun I been around them and hear screaming because the ride is so terrible
“Major design flaw”
Do you not know what an alpine coaster is?
@@jackh.9760 I think what they meant was that it should of just been one long lift hill up instead of multiple short ones, like most alpine coasters are. Instead, it just brakes whenever you start to pick up speed
When will we get rocky mountain coaster RMC?
If graphic novels were called books everybody would freak out
The only coaster in which the lifts were designed to be the actual fun part
A coaster designed to remove the slow 'scared rider' from slowing down a run, ends up ruining the entire coaster for everyone.
I thought the last uphill meant it was going to be a very long, fast, thrilling ride all the way down, then all of a sudden, rides over!!!! What Happened ! ! ! ? ?
does a bear pee in the woods? ..heck yes!
"Does.....a......bear......pee.....in the......woods......heck yes 👈"
As slow as that coaster appears, they should have made it a rest stop while they were at it.
Yawn.... I can get my grandmother's electric wheelchair to go faster than that
Real tho
7:14 It's slow, and they're excited about it.
Also: Here 80 ft
Are we there yet?
I have count an in smokey mountain area pigeon forge and gaitling burg is it about 7 alpine coasyter

I thought it was a downhill coaster ! It kept stopping then going uphill? Totally defeats the object.
did this one last weekens
Wow, that was almost as bad as when I got stuck behind a conversion van on a twisty back road 6 weeks ago that was so worn out that it looked like a drunk Weeble as it was going around the curves.
Lo bueno es que dura mucho. Lo malo es que le falta un poco mas de emocion y velocidad
They have the nerve to call this a roller coaster?
Ikr
Is this a kiddie ride?. It has to be
Is this the Progressive Insurance theme park coaster?
Thumbs up for scenery. Two thumbs down for fun 😒
I think with this rollercoaster you spend more time going Lol
If we didn't have head cams there wouldn't be youtube.
The park should be playing " Slow Ride " by Foghat over & over ! This is probably the most least exciting mountain coaster in the world ! Bummer !
this must be the kiddie ride version, the one in germany you lit 70mph, from the top of the 6400ft adler
OMG! What a waste of steel SMH !
Seems to travel a greater distance uphill than downhill?
I was able to read all the comments during the uphill parts, since there were so many of them uphill parts...
What does "Here 80ft" mean? It says so all over the place
idk who would spend money on this when yk lightning rod is like 1 MILE DOWN THE ROAD 😂 😂
I went on this a week go and I was going at least 50 miles per hour
Das wäre nichts für mich. Da hat man keinen spaß mehr, wenn man dauernd abgebremst wird. Das ist für mich eine komplette Fehlplanung. Ich bin andere Bahnen von Wiegand gewohnt!
_"The sleds are designed to not come off of the track during the ride"_ ...I would hope so, sure & don't think there will ever be a problem moving that slow. Nevertheless, _waaaaaaaaaaaaay_ too slow. They forgot to add *THRILL* to the design when they put this together. The "Welcome to the top" automated recording was a great spot to get off, so I turned the video off . Sorry, just bein' real. At least I now know not to visit the Rocky Mountain Coaster Ride if I'm ever in the area. Thx!
Why does this exist?? Who likes this??
I think when you tell your friend you went on this ride, you end it with “...it’s more fun irl.”
Who the heck designed that ride?? 80% of the ride you're on a break or on a lifthill
