I played against someone at an LGS who insisted on running Vedalken Orrery (basically artefact leyline of anticipation) in every deck of theirs, it made it nightmarish because every time I tried to take a turn there was always a response. I can't imagine what it would be like if they were also untapping their lands each turn
I had the Time Stop loop with the extra step. Prototype Portal with Eon Engine. Make the engine before the time stop resolves and the turns ends up seesaw to yourself.
I think a way to "fix" prophet without taking away the flash ability is to change the untap from "creatures and lands" to "all non-land permanents." It would make the deck more vulnerable to board wipes and reign in the power a little bit, but it would still be strong with setup.
Because the commander format is so diverse in power levels and playstyles, the banlist looks like a jumbled mess. There's just too much to account for. Personally, I think a rule 0 conversation fixes most problems the banlist tries to fix. Play your Kruphix as long as everyone else is in agreement.
For sure, I tend to start the conversation with something like, "if there were 1 banned card you desperately wanted in your deck, what would it be?" And proceed to make a wild game of commander with handwritten paper cards in front of whatever each player wants to sub out.
no one who has played against prophet before would agree to let someone play it. Even in an intentionally weak deck prophet completely warps the game, making that player have 4 turns whilst everyone else only gets one turn
I do not know how I found you guys, but I’m really happy that I did. The section on Regular Expressions was super cool. I’m going to recommend you guys to anyone I know who plays magic.
When we started this series, we pinpointed we definitely want to have a viewer break in there with the moxfield and search sections as Gramps really struggles with all that stuff and we know the wider community do too! Hey guys, first time long time! Having jumped into EDH when Derevi was one of the top decks running both Seedborn Muse and Prophet was hellish but I think that the game/format itself has power crept a lot since Kruphix was banned and unlike Muse, Kruphix dies to bolt. That being said my takeaway from the episode is "ban Isochron Scepter". I've seen too many storm decks run Scepter with dramatic reversal or other nonsense that just feels bad to go against
