On this weekend, my dad and I went over to Roanoke, VA. There was a whole bunch of GE's leading, but it was still an exciting trip! The railroad crossings are pretty cool. There's actually a mechanical bell at Hollins Road that was reinstalled. Two coal trains were seen, as well as an SD40-2 and a GP38-2 with a yard slug that was built by a combination of Alco, and Conrail.
The Amtrak Northeast Regional, which originates/terminates in Roanoke is also seen. Interesting enough, one intermodal train came by on Hollins Road with a well car that had some really cool graffiti of the Powerpuff Girls cartoon. A local railfan was with us as we recorded it, and thought it was really funny.
