11:20 Lovely footage of BCER 1225, haven't been able to find many videos of her when she was in the USA. 1225 now runs on the FVRHS (tracks are shared with SRY Rail Link) out in Surrey/Cloverdale BC. Since there are no longer overhead wires on that line, she has a generator car behind her at all times.
The day I filmed it at the museum in California, the group from BC that was purchasing it was testing it out before a final agreement was signed. Funny enough, there was one guy with the group who was filming from onboard with the same exact camera as mine. It's the only time I ever saw that car running. I haven't seen many other photos of it out at Perris either, probably because it still hadn't been restored. I need to go see 1225 now that it's back home!
Amazing Video my friend. Amtrak P-42’s and F59’s were honestly the best back in the good ol’ days. So sad they have left our train services. Thank you for posting these oldies but goodies.
11:41 it is great that you managed to catch Amtrak’s mail and express mail train in action. This was discontinued later in 2004. Super cool you caught it in its final moments.
Amtrak Phase 3 and 4 was around when i was born. Back when things were better, I just loved calling Amtrak trains "Fast trains" I used to always yell: "TWAIN". 10 years later, I get to meet an Amtrak Conductor with a Amtrak Phase 4 164 heritage. I will never forget those moments. I was also born in 2009. When they released the first iPhone.
I love how homemade this feels. This is just a guy who would film trains for fun, and you still do that today. I wasn’t born until a few years later but I like the 80s 90s, 2000s and early 2010s era of train films. There’s something about it.
My goodness this video is a trip; only 8 minutes through; and it is really giving the heavy nostalgic feel. Old paint schemes; old crossing equipment, all of it. Good material!
Mike was 2004 TWO DECADES AGO? Man I was only 14 years old and remember the Surfline being original back in those days! Great times! Great footage you managed to capture during this period! Another great video! :)
So freaking nostalgic I just wanna go back to back to like the years were before all the Genzie and Jen Alphus came. I missed those times when actual kids new and they played outside. I’m about like 30 years old but still watch you cause you’re just I love trains and I work for them It is union Pacific and I just love your videos and I love them.
That was one of the more interesting lash ups I saw on an Amtrak long distance train. Not too often you see three different locomotives, all in a different paint scheme!
Your old vids uploaded 2 decades ago! I almost forgot to noticed that! Nice callback tho! 16:18 Never knew Coaster 2305’s horn sounds decently good when full blasted… 19:34 If only we ever saw an Amtrak California engine leads or featured (not counting the carriages) in Coast Starlight back in 2010s…
I think there was maybe one time around 2012 that they used an AmCal F59 on the Coast Starlight but I don't remember when exactly or why. They used to send the F59s to LA for wheel work before the Oakland facility was expanded. For a period, it was pretty common to see them on the point of the Starlight between LA and Oakland.
1:563:52 Fresno has surely changed. Since then now it’s a quite zone near the city hall where this was filmed and most of those dirt lots are now buildings surrounding the area
Surfliner cars alone could not keep up with the increase of ridership during that period, so LOSSAN had to lease Superliners to make more 6 car sets, which is pretty much the standard now
10:15 is it just me, or does the early Phase 5 scheme look better than the regular Phase 5 scheme? To me the extra pinstripe and the extra gray that lifts the pinstripes up to the side numbers just makes the Genesis locomotives seem more slim and trim idk.
2004 was the gold age of railfanning in the early times. Thanks for the nostalgia and stuff from you. Petition for the old times to come back, please make it happen....
I didn't exist in 2004, but it is AWESOME to see the trains back then!
Thanks for watching! RUclips didn't exist back then either!
I wasn't born at that time as well, but the trains were awesome.
I was born in 2006 and I’d wish trains were the same as back then
@@CoasterFan2105I was born in 2014
@@jonathanlarathetrainguy7788 Yeah, trains hit very differently now, they have new features from time to time.

Please do show more of these type of videos especially the LA Metrolink. That in my opinion this was the best year for them.
That is pretty awesome to see what San Luis Obispo was like 20 years ago. It’s much different now, there are still some similarities.

1:32 Perfect Surfliner set... why are those unheard of all of a sudden?

Is 3751 the first steam engine you recorded in 2008
This quality is to good for 2003
the age of the trains doesn't really matter...trains are just awesome: powerful, a lot of forced energy, musical, cool, mesmerizing etc...thanks
