    Onnais has had some issues with their handgun safes in the past. Mainly that they could be easily breeched via the override key.
    Their latest handgun safe is one that is designed to be a portable pistol safe or mini safe, and in our review you will see that it has improved those weaknesses to the point that the pistol safe is as good as one could reasonably expect at this price point and for the intent of the safe.
    By "as good as what one could expect" you need to consider it's use. A portable safe must be light so that it can travel easily. You're not going to get an high security safe with 1/4 -1/2 inch steel, that would be ridiculous in a portable safe, but you are getting a steel wrapped safe with two locking "bolts" that will prevent people from just walking away with your passport, cards or anything else you may have stored in the pistol safe.
    With that in mind, I think this is a descent pistol safe that offers reasonable protection against a quick theft, and that is what it's designed for. But it won't stop anyone determined to get in, from getting in.
    One of its ideal applications would be for use as a portable car safe. The cord would allow it to be secured within the vehicle and it's built well enough so that it could not be easily removed in a smash and grab.

    With all the small gun safe options I’m glad I discovered this review. It was very helpful.

    Just got mine. Door is unlocked on the key side latch and locked on the opposite side. Yet the door will not open with the key. Right now I’m about to return this back to Amazon. 😤

    Does your safe charge to 100%? I had purchased one and it failed to charge to 100%. A replacement one was sent out to me by the company and again only charges to 80%.

    The noise this thing makes is a deal breaker for me. I want a compact safe to keep my kids out, and that my wife can access quickly and discreetly if there was ever a home invasion or necessary scenario. Price point can make some more appealing, but I'm not trying to cheap out when it comes to safety. Is there a safe on the market that fits the description I just gave?

      Avoid biometric safes and go for one with a mechanical Simplex push-bottom combination lock. There are no batteries to fail, and thus no need for back-up key (always a major vulnerability). Vline, Fort Knox, and Titan make great safes. They are more expensive, but the steel is much thicker, The Titan Pistol Vault is also portable.

    I thought as a locksmith you would like... test the lock or somethin. but thanks anyway

      Nearly every lock can be bypassed. So we don't show people how to do that.
      Our videos are done relative to other products in the same category, at the same price point. Is it better than those or worse than those? That way people shopping at a certain budget can figure out if they're getting a good deal or not for what their budget will allow.
      Thanks for watching.

    What is the purpose of metal cable I can see on the table next to the safe? How to use it?

    • @LocksmithRecommended
      @LocksmithRecommended  2 года назад +1

      I can't believe I forgot to mention that. That is a security cable. One side goes in the safe and it loops around whatever you want to secure the safe too. I have another example of a pistol safe where I show more clearly how one works. Look at the 47 second mark of the following.

    The enclosed RFID card is the only card that can open it, correct?..anyone with a RFID reader cannot access, correct?

    • @LocksmithRecommended
      @LocksmithRecommended  2 года назад

      RFID cards have different signals that the safe would have to recognize, so yes that is correct.

      @@LocksmithRecommended Stealth makes made in USA. I have the Swift Vault 2.0. That is a pistol safe but not made to be very portable unless you plan on leaving it in your car. Fort Knox make good ones but they are $300+. Not to say that this is a bad safe, but China can afford to make junk, American companies have more at risk, if this quality is not good then why not pay less for some other junk. Yes this does look like a good portable option that I could put in the car but maybe not one to keep others out at home.
