    So what do you think? Is this worth the hassle to get working and are you ok with large audio latency?

    • @Lexfinity

      I got RUclips Music to play laggy music videos in a group with the 'move the music' casting feature. Started a music video on my phone app, casted it to my chromecast, and then asked my google assistant in my living room hub to move the music to my 'Hub Group', a speaker group of Nest Hubs around my house that now includes my chromecast. The first video will play no problem and the second video is noticably laggy. And if you try this trick on your Netflix app Google will tell you it 'Doesn't work for Netflix'... 🤨🤔✍️

      I'm not really understanding what impact the Bluetooth capability has on the ability to do sync video with audio on different devices. If Google is able to send simultaneous audio to everything over WiFi, why can't video be included in that as well? I understand there may be latency differences, but I'm sure that could be compensated for. Anyway, good video, thanks for explaining it. :)

      Have they fixed the sync issue yet? It’s funny how they are all google products and they don’t work well. AppleTV doesn’t do this kind of issue. I just bought the googletv and 2 mini gen2 to try it out because it’s cheaper than the Apple products.

    What a lost opportunity for Google. Having compatibility with Chromecast GTV and nest devices is a perfect opportunity for Google to take over in the the home theater industry. Shouldn't have to use Bluetooth at all. It should let you select a speaker group as the default sound playback device and remember that setting between reboots. Anything else is just a bodge job (UK Terminology!).

    • @TechWithBrett

    This is such a missed opportunity for Google and could be integrated natively. However, I can see that connection reliability would be a big con and the lack of physical audio ports on the speakers would make this hard to negate.

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  3 года назад +1

      From the technical side it sounds like a nightmare. I have always wanted a 3.5mm jack on them to help support this but I think with how good the Nest Audio pair sounds it could totally be done with just the speakers.

    • @jordanramsayclements
      @jordanramsayclements 3 года назад

      @@TechWithBrett I've been looking at getting a pair of nest audio speakers. Was wondering if the pairing would sound better than a single Google Home Max. That's why I was looking if Google speakers could be the audio out for the new Chromecast then it would probably be an easier sell. But I wouldn't say that the Bluetooth work around is a viable option. Especially if I would have to ask the pair to connect via Bluetooth each time I turn off the Chromecast.

    • @isomeme
      @isomeme 3 года назад

      @@jordanramsayclements , to my ears a Nest Audio stereo pair sounds better than a single Home Max. Beyond getting good stereo separation, the high and mid ranges are noticeably cleaner. I can hear tiny, subtle details in music that usually require good headphones to notice. The big downside is weak bass. It's actually amazingly good for such small speakers, but it still lacks oomph on the low end. I'm considering getting a Chromecast-enabled subwoofer and putting it into a speaker group with the Nest Audio stereo pair. If anyone has recommendations, I'd love to hear them!

    This is the closest we've gotten, so great, but... I'm still shocked Google hasn't prioritized making a seamless experience between their audio products and their video products. Like... I just want my video to stream to my Chromecast and my audio to stream to my speakers and my Chromecast. The same technique used to sync audio across multiple speakers can be used with a TV speaker, which would take care of video syncing. Is it really more technically challenging than that? Please, Google!

    There is a latency for Nest Audio stereo pair, because it streams 1 channel of Bluetooth to one speaker, then it uses Chromecast (via Wi-Fi) to sync to the other Nest Audio. I tried this setup before with a LG TV with dual bluetooth out channel, so pair 2 Nest Audio (not in a pair), both directly to the TV, and there's almost no latency.

Why I ask is because when we are dealing with something like BLE/Bluetooth connection, it suppose to work normal once both devices uses the same codex and the low latency is usually fixed with software updates. It's nothing complex like zigbee, VoIP etc.

    1) I still need to shuffle with two volumes - on the chromecast and also on the Home Max. Is there any chance to just shuffle with one? E.g. when the projector is turned on the Max goes to 100% automatically and I can just use the remote to tweak the volume on the chromecast to the final level I want. I tried routines but not successful.
    2) Right now I do the above mentioned manually. From the home app I set the volume on Max to 100% and then I adjust the volume on the chromecast to some final level either through app or using its remote. But later when I finish watching and turn the projector down, the volume on Max stays 100% which means that when I ask assistant to turn the lights down, it screams like crazy and wakes up my child.
    Do you have by any chance some advice on what to do? Thank you.

With Chromecast with Google TV, there’s volume control and they sound louder than they did on the Fire TV... but they don’t stay connected. If I pause on Netflix, they’ll disconnect and I’ll have to forget the AirPods and reconnect them. It’s such a hassle.
    On top of that, I wanted to use my Nest Hub Max as a subwoofer for my Chromecast but it looks like there’ll be latency or lack-of-support (e.g. DIsney+). I’ll try it myself since, like you said, YMMV. Thank you for making this video, this is something I actually really care about but it’s a super obscure thing to find - at least for me.

      Thank you for your review and I really wish they had better support. I used my Echo Buds on my Fire TV and that actually worked amazing.

    Great video but you can't really tell if there is any audio sync issues if you watch animation movies like lego batman

    hi. i have a question. i have a sweet home cinema system. if i have the google chrome cast can i play the sounds via hdmi or bleutooth on my suround system
    and could i use my google speakers using wifi and my suround system via bleutooth together as a multi speaker system.
    i just want to make my dumb speakers smart

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  3 года назад

      The best option is through HDMI to a sound system. As shown in the video, I don't recommend the Bluetooth option.

    Also if you are bluetoothing from Chromecast with google tv. To a google home/nest speaker
    You can go to the google home app media section and add more speakers.

    hi Brett, i want to ask if you have some kind of an updated version of this? i guess what i really want to know is if the google nest speakers works well on a chromecast with google tv? i'm still trying to figure which ecosystem to use, i currently own a firestick tv 4k and inches away to go full Alexa ecosystem but i'm a Google/Samsung fanboy as well so i'm hoping that Google speakers works with the new chromecast with google tv so i can go straight on the Google ecosystem. thanks.

    I picked up 2 Nest Audios and I can't for the world of me figure out how to make the Google TV recognize them as a pair. I have both of them in a group but when I tell it to turn on Bluetooth the Google TV only recognizes 1 of them and now the pair together. Any advice?

      I figured out this issue and I had to set it up in stereo mode to make it work. Non stereo seems to only work with 1

    • @VPC

      Update: Paired mode seems to have a slight delay. When it is paired with 1 speaker there is no delay whatsoever

    What is the easiest way to stream sounds from my outdoor speakers connected to a denon amp that has all wifi and google assistant capabilities? when I am playing a movie from a projector that is NOT connected to the denon amp as the amp is inside in a basement and speakers are outdoors?

      I'm a little confused by the question. For a movie this is difficult. For music just create a cast group.

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  3 года назад

      I'm not sure I understand your question. You can cast from your phone to the Chromecast without any Google speakers.

  • @MichaelSelhost

    With the Max speakers, it's easier to use an Aux cable, but you can't use one AND have two Max speakers paired (it will cause a huge delay). Use a L and R splitter for a two speaker system, but one does great already. Another downfall of the Max speakers is that they will stop audio playback when the playback gets really quiet (like just before a jump scare).
