I think it's super dumb that people get mad at this. Don't you think there is a reason why it got cancelled? E.g. because there already is a super good Spider Man game by Insomniac, so why shit out a ton more game to create competition between their own games. Instead, Sony could just focus those resources on other great games. Also, the concept of a lot of Spider Man characters all fighting simultaneously seems pretty boring to me. The normal Spider Man's fighting system works perfectly without five other characters fighting on your side. And how would you make all characters feel unique without making the fighting and skill system extremely overcomplicated. How would you give everybody enough room in the story without making the game like 100 hours long.
Considering how much multiplayer super hero games have been failing lately I think this is just there way of playing it safe even if its a very small chance a companies goal is to satisfy the customer and turn a profit and this could have been the greatest thing ever true but it also could go the way of avengers and suicide squad and i think thats why they chose to back track on it the risk was there and they didnt want to take it gotta look at this from a company prospective not a fan one if I seen my counterpart games going south I wouldnt want to follow in there footsteps ether just saying i feel like from a business stand point they made the right choice but as a marvel and Spiderman fan it does suck but hey thats life 🤷

To be fair insomnia just really doesn’t feel like doing a live service that’ll consume all of their time, and energy and have to continue to support for years to come. They are still a single player focus company than a live service studio after all.
Also, players would probably wait for the same budget, which was in SM1,2,MM, but that could be ending in microtransactions, which is not that cool. They are experts in single-player games, let it stay that way
Honestly that makes sense. Frankly I don't think the time is right yet for this game either tbh. After the spiderverse films are finished and insomniac does the last spiderman game though and does all the DLCS for it (Pretty sure it's gonna be a game trilogy after all, and I'm assuming story dlcs will follow for all of them.) And any other potential spiderman spin off games are done like Miles, THEN is the time for a live service game. Because then it would be the cherry on top for their spiderman games if they felt they were capable of properly executing it, and they'd have a lot more to pull from.

Even if Great Web was a 10/10 game, Insomniac would have to convert a vast portion of their studio to Live Service studio for the support, continuous development and could potentially delay other projects like Spider-Man 3. I think this is the same with what happened with TLOU Online. Look at GTA or Elder Scrolls. The reason the next installations have taken so long to come out is because of the Online side of things taking up so much of the studio resources.

A video essay highlighted that MCU has been very entropic/chaotic after endgame because they're constantly trying to setup franchises. All the "easter eggs" and random characters for future spin offs etc. They're sacrificing quality for the sake of pushing a new franchise and there's probably a strong link here

I think you guys forgot that people were freaking out when people saw that you had to pay for a skin in Spider-Man two for the fresh and fly suit pack. Even though insomniac reassured people that that wasn’t the case, people still got a little freaked out anyway. Not to mention the fact that the second game would’ve been announced it probably would’ve got hated on or criticized and seeing the feedback from suicide squad, I think it’s safe to say that this was a smarter decision on their part.

A video essay highlighted that MCU has been very entropic/chaotic after endgame because they're constantly trying to setup franchises. All the "easter eggs" and random characters for future spin offs etc. They're sacrificing quality for the sake of pushing a new franchise and there's probably a strong link here

I think you guys forgot that people were freaking out when people saw that you had to pay for a skin in Spider-Man two for the fresh and fly suit pack. Even though insomniac reassured people that that wasn’t the case, people still got a little freaked out anyway. Not to mention the fact that the second game would’ve been announced it probably would’ve got hated on or criticized and seeing the feedback from suicide squad, I think it’s safe to say that this was a smarter decision on their part.
