For extra merits: quickly target all system authority ships when you leave the station. 20 merits per ship for doing nothing while you boost away from the station.
2 tips: this works ANYWHERE in the system, not only near the nav beacon; to avoid anacondas or other big ships escape you, just destroy their FSD first! I'm doing this in all lasers Corvette, so basically the limit is only the fuel ;)
You could try kailh choc style switches. Thin, short actuation distance, available in many variants (silent linear, and tactile too), many pcbs support it, and split keyboards can be used to put the joystick inbetween the 2 halves, so that you get both the comfort and placement flexibility of a half-keyboard, and a full array of symbols available.
My solution for your situation with your joystick and keyboard was to have a small end-table (I used a TV tray) just on the right side of my chair to put my joystick on. So they keyboard stayed where it was, and the joystick was on a small table to the right of my chair.
@@Gunthrek It's not a per weapon basis, if you lock a target and get a basic scan, until it remais locked, you can cycle through their subsystems (aka their internal and external modules) and the ballistic trajectory will be changed to hit that specific spot. With fixed weapons you are the one doing the aiming and with gimballs and turrets they will try and hit the targeted subsystem. I have my previous subsystem on "C", going with previous gets you to the FSD and Powerplant faster, the next subsystem I have it on the "\", that is right besides my Z key on my keyboard.
What I do is I have an under desk shelf and I have my joystick and I have a short keyboard by red dragon. Then I have my larger keyboard up in the desk. Hope that helps.
Pretty sure the merits are based on pilot rank. So an elite Sidewinder gives more merits than a mostly harmless Anaconda. Low rank large ships might not be worth all the ammo.
Maybe get one of those desk or chair mounts for joysticks. This lets you have your keyboard in the normal spot with the joystick off the edge. I just bought the x56 and am getting them for my set for the same reason
Definitely a good option! My current setup will be changing soon, hopefully, and I won't have the chair anymore after that. Hopefully I can do something similar!
x3 class two, x2 class 1 frag cannons. All have double shot. For experimental I have corrosive shell and drag munitions on the smaller ones, incendiary on one of the class 2 for cutting through shields, overpowered on the other two.

True!

Yeah, I always forget about targeting subsystems.

Interesting!

Appreciate the suggestion!
Cant believe you would sue a TV tray like that, whatd it do?
You really should do subsystem targeting for the bigger ships so you disable their thrusters, FSD or powerplant, preventing them from escaping.
Can you do that with fixed weapons?

I'll keep it in mind.
PP CZ's are another place to earn quick merits
Gotcha!

Ah, makes sense!
What happened to the shard cannons?
I engineered regular frag cannons. They seem to burn them down faster.
@@Gunthrek Okay. I was going to try the Shards to see how they work. I have frags too tho, so I will probably switch to those then. Thanks!

What's the frag setup? Don't recognise the sparking effect
