As a young man, we were told to emulate Mike Brady and Heathcliff Huckstable. That they were real dads. But as I got older, I realized that the real dads were Al Bundy and Red Foreman.
Red and Al - #Legend
You mean the 2 who in real life were good dudes and not a total creep like Cosby?
True true true
Mike Brady was a baloney smoker.
Three of my favorites:
Sanford and Son
The courtship of Eddie's Father
$h*! My Dad Says
It's so relieving to watch a young woman react to such humor and not get offended
agreed
Indeed
Peg: Hi honey, did you miss me?
Al: With every bullet so far 😂
I loved that show. That was before people started getting offended by everything. You know, when Comedy was COMEDY. People took it as something funny and not something against them. When people could live without being automatically judged.
You’re damn right. People nowadays would have heart attacks if someone came out with stuff the likes of All in the family, Jefferson’s, Married with Children, or any of the Mel Brooks films. Those were shows and films from the generations that still have backbones.
FACTS.
Cancel culture anyone?
@@bubamaranovichok4901 Meaning what, Laszlo? I am not arguing, I just never understood Cancel Culture.
@@robclark8889 I'm from today's generation and I'm not offended by it
I could easily binge watch this series on endless repeat without a care in the world. Al was every working man’s role model back in the 90’s as we could SO relate 😂😂😂
yeah I started rewatching it and it's great from episode 1 on, great storytelling and especially in the first season it's very much about family, it gets silly later on is always about family sticking together, the 90's had such great family shows, and al was an a-hole was every one was an a-hole, equally, on shows today the husband is an imbecile and the kids walk all over him, there's nothing funny about that
@@wheelmanstan ... That’s precisely why Married with Children will forever be remembered as one of the best comedies ever made. It’s just a shame that the PC loonies who complain about every joke uttered today being sexist, racist or homophobic of some kind don’t remember that it was made at a time where no one cared & simply wanted to laugh along to a show we could relate to, much like Seinfeld.
@@gerardroll6468 everything you said is true except for the Seinfeld bit, both the show and the person himself, highly overrated, give me Godfried, Dangerfield and Candy over him everyday of the week plus twice on Sundays.
You know they had a HUGE following of the show in Germany, right? I heard that the Dads over there are to stressed and uptight that they just love Al's heroism to protect the family despite losing at just about everything all the time. I'm sure there's more to it, too. I think the Germans even had the show created with their own characters and did the same type of humor as MWC...
@@yetrotagabundok3756 in russia they have a russian version with same character roles. 😅
Al put the “S” in the word “savage” 🔥🔥🔥. DEFINITELY one of the greatest comedies ever written & produced ✋️😂👍
@Allan Copeland ... In the comedy hall of fame (if one existed), this show would have an entire wing or section dedicated to it all on its’ own ✌️🤣👍
@Allan Copeland ... If anyone with “a pair” even big enough to try & make a show like this nowadays, the “PC loonies” would be all over it like a rash, screaming for it to be taken off air 😖😖😖. I am SO grateful I was around to see this at a time when nobody cared about the sexist gags & innuendo, unlike nowadays where you can’t crack a joke without pissing someone off 🤨🤨🤨
Best show in television 📺 history.
There will never be another show like it. BUNDY IS A GOD.
@Steve Gregg Now that you mention it, that is right around the time when things started their southward slide. So, putting 2 and 2 together leads you to believe that the cancellation of this show was one of the worst things that ever happened to us. Sounds about right.
Great show Imho 2nd to "The Honeymooners."
@@wiseman5076was you one of those people that got butt hurt if so I have a application for you to fill out call the butt hurt report
There was an episode where Al & Marcy were arguing and Al started calling her a chicken, then Marcy turned to Steve (or was it Jefferson, it was one of her husbands) and she put both her arms on her waist and was bobbing her head up and asking Steve "Why does he call me a chicken" and Steve responded with "Don't ruffle your feathers"
It started with Steve. But she did do it a time or two with Jefferson. Jefferson always laughed behind her back
The chicken jokes were always making fun of Marcy's boyish physique
She did it quite often their is a great one in THIS video @ 2:30 in the Bundy's Living Room
@@garymason7869 yes and I was referring to when Marcy did it for the very first time
Comedy used to be allowed to be funny rather than function as a therapy session for people who can't cope with reality.
Yeah, today seems people have lost the ability to laugh at themselves.
its funny how this used to be mainstream on tv...now we have more censorship onlne so much we have to mute words..this society is pathetic
He calls her chicken cause of her cackle/clucking. Funny to know is that she was very involved in the production of the series and even directed several episodes later on. She LITERALLY is fully in on those jokes and probably suggested the majority of them personally :D
It is also fairly well-known that both actors hated eachother in real life....to this very day.
I also seem to remember that Amanda Bearse (Marci) wrote some of Al's lines in later season episodes. There are interviews by both on RUclips if you care to look for them.
Also, in one of the scenes in this video, she is bobbing her head with her elbows back looking like a chicken pecking.
@@CorwinPatrick she said the chicken movements was actually Ed's idea 😂
I honestly think the hatred is one-sided because I’ve seen interviews with Ed ONeil later in life where he actually says he did not have any ill will towards her but did the issue comes from the fact that she could not differentiate between the Al Bundy character and him as a person everybody else on the show loved him and he said that he was one of the nicest sweetest guys you’d ever meet
@@mrtoad8585 But that wouldn't make much sense in the context of knowing that she directed many episodes (later on) and helped writing it. I mean, I don't say you are wrong, it just doesn't fit to this fact. I think the real reason is the situation about the being lesbian. Ed ONeil said in interviews that he had to adjust to that topic at first, that he wasn't talking correctly about it, and I can imagine her being grumpy about him and she wasn't able to get rid of it. Hate can go a long way.
I always interpreted the chicken insults to Marcy as being because she was flat chested and also because she shook her head like a chicken whenever she was nagging him or her husband.
And she often toke the same stance like in this compilation where she is having her arm to the hip and nagging about something. Kinda looks like a chicken. 2:32
The "mistook your cries to the butcher" bit emulates that perfectly.
And the hair lol
And let's not forget her comically skinny legs.
@@j.m.74 The first episode where he refers to her as a "chicken" is when she's in his towel holding her fish dish, and she asks him if he's seen a fish eye. He looks at her and her skinny legs sticking out of the towel (his towel) she is wearing and says, "No...but I see a chicken leg." ;-)
The greatest thing about most of those insults is that Amanda Bearse, the actress that played Marcy, wrote most of them! And all the women that he personally insulted in the shoe store were actual working comedians who knew what they were signing up for before he insulted them.
Exactly, so for anyone who is thinking he was personally insulting their weight, just keep in mind that most of those ladies wrote those jokes themselves.
Great show. I recall watching it as a kid and just loving it. It was so opposite to my family life. Also, Al is so rough that it makes it funny. He scored 4 touch downs in a single game.
I miss this show..Al was a straight savage!
It was awesome seeing you enjoy this excellent humor, Shiloh! 🙂
Was one of my favorite sitcoms ever ....The episode with Al chasing the rabbit , and the one chasing the mouse in the basement are classics ....
I’m so old I remember when the Fox network premiered and also this show! Gary Shandling Show was awesome too.
This girl has a beautiful face and is not offended. Bless you dear.
"Why do you have to be so negative?"
"Why did you cross the road?"
This show has aged like fine wine.
I watched every episode of Married With Children & Home Improvement in the 90s. So many good memories from that era. Thanks for the laughs. 🤣❤
I read somewhere that the idea of Married With Children came, in part, from the show Sanford And Son. Red Foxx was brutal to everyone, especially his In-Laws. You should look into scenes from that show, too.
I miss this show, even though I don't remember much of it, as I was a child on reruns. I loved how Ed O'Neill was on SNL and FOX made fun of not endorsing the show.
Shiloh darling, you were not born at the right time. I mean with it, you were laughing most of the insults, just like we, older generation did when those episodes were played on TV. And they were not even the most brutal insults.Stay as you are honey, you are one of the real angels!
You’re so beautiful and you seem like such a sweet girl. 😊
Lol he was hilarious. Bring a show like this back lol. Love your personality Shiloh. Thanks for posting.
Shiloh, believe it or not...I have been watching RUclips videos and movies for a very long time.
Not a single time before now have I even considered hitting "like and subscribe"
Never felt the need because the choice's of programs are endless.
Being an Elvis fan I noticed these reaction videos. I am very pleased to see that people still enjoy him... it's a treat to witness a first time listener.
After about a half dozen different people doing reactions and all of a sudden something caught my attention...You.
So I decided for the very first time to subscribe to something. I don't know exactly what to expect...I think it just makes sure that any new video of yours is sent to my feed. Not sure.
All I know is you are special I'd follow you anywhere.
The Introductory Song is Frank Sinatra singing, if you didn't Realize that, if you know who Frank Sinatra is. Some Younger People have Never Heard of Him.
Fun fact: Don't know if this was mentioned earlier, but Amanda Bearse (actress who played Marcy the neighbor) wrote a large amount of the jokes for Ed O'Neill (Al Bundy). They also had a huge rivalry, though I don't know what started it.
Aww, they didn't have my favorite one:
Al is in some lady's office in need of some service or something from her. Her name is Mrs. Blaub.
Mrs. Blaub turns him down and Al says, "Look here now, Blob!" She yells back at him, "IT'S BLAUB!!" He answers her, "I know your name, I was using a descriptive term."
Al Bundy will forever be my hero.
Funny thing is those women actually did end up falling through the floor. The One above his shoe store. XD
I literally laughed out loud with the dumb and dumber clip at the beginning.
He's a great comedic actor with great timing.
Yea him and Marcy were always going at it. Those two were always funny.
The theme song was "Love and Marriage" by Frank Sinatra.
I used to watch Married With Children every week. Now, looking back, I'm kind of conflicted, because a lot of the subject matter was pushing the envelope on moral boundaries. (In plain English, a lot of it was dirty).
But the cast were all incredibly talented comic actors. Ed O'Neill as Al Bundy in particular was just amazing. His posture, his facial expressions, his tone of voice and delivery of his lines were all flawless.
A couple of clips to look for if you're interested in watching more of Al Bundy include: "Al Bundy paying bills," "Al Bundy jumps from plane," "Al Bundy raps," "Al Bundy horoscope," and "Al Bundy wife chant."
referring Marcie as a chicken. When she had started arguing, moving her head back and forth real fast, it's kinda like what a chicken does.
And add skinny legs and little to no breasts.. ♠W.G.
Hi Shiloh, when I watched the show I could not stop Laughing, A CLASSIC!!
Married With Children Is My Favourite Show Of All Time :
Al Bundy Is A Legend.
😂🤣
One of my favorite shows growing up
A lot of the ladies at the shoe store were comedians and they helped write a lot of the lines used. Marcie played by Amanda Byrne always got referred as a chicken or a boy I believe was on her flat chest and short hair. She is a homosexual as well in real life which possibly didn't help back then.
Al Bundy referred to her as a chicken because she looked like a chicken! Lol that was the running joke
That was fantastic!!! He was hilarious. Loved seeing you laugh so hard!! 😊🌹🌹🌹
That was funny Shiloh thanks for that!!! From like the very first episode he always referred to her as a chicken because she had real skinny legs like a chicken!!! Keep up the good work bright eyes I love everything you do and I look forward to the next one!!🎉🎉🎉🎉💕💕🥰🥰🥰😘😍
Hi this video was so amazing keep up the good work love you
You'd love John pinette and his water slide/skiing bit
Boy I love this show....Al for President
Al Bundy was the man . Oh yeah and than comes Red . No filter on both of them.
He referred to her as a chicken because her chicken breasts were to small and her hair kind of looked like one of those fancy chickens you see at the fair. What a great show.
Almost hard to believe he's the same guy who played Jay Pritechet on Modern Family. This show would NEVER be made today.
Have you seen Modern Family?????
Yes, which is why I referenced it. Ed O'Neill plays both characters and while he has a few one liners of sarcasm, that’s all it is, funny sarcasm, nothing close to Al Bundy.
Hello, to answer your question about why Al refers to Marcy and a chicken... someone probably beat me to it but just in case not, go back to 2:31 and you'll see why. Marcys arms are in the shape of chicken wings and then she leans forward and starts cackling like a chicken at Peggy LOL!
Thank you Shiloh !! You brighten my day every day, Your smile is so beautiful, and so genuine, It is absolutely infectious and adorable, Thank you, you are so pretty, , your smile is blinding, hahah your attitude and personality are wonderful, stay positive !!!
If this show was to air today it would be canceled so quickly!!
A glorious visit to yesteryear......when you could put out funny material without worrying who would get offended.....now you have to be so politically correct all the time, most of the humor is so restrained!......Al Bundy had NO RESTRAINTS!
He didn't need any back then. People saw COMEDY as funny. Now they see it as Offensive. I say those that did or do still, ARE IDIOTS. Plain and Simple.
And yes there were shows before this and to this day that have the same jokes and humor... sadly most don't notice it because it don't have this cast or show title.
But yes it is funny as heck
I believe he referred to Marcy as a chicken, because she did have "chicken" legs. Was fairly small breasted, in comparison to Peg and most women. Also, the way she tended to bob or shake her head when nagging or speaking enthusiastically. Married...With Children, easily in my top 5 all time favorite shows. Al Bundy was a savage to the core. GOTTA love him! Thing about the show is, they insulted each other ALL the time. But if push came to shove, they had each other's backs. GREAT reaction. Love the channel. Keep up the GREAT work! \m/
Bundy had a preference for rather, let's say, well endowed ladies. He is frequently featured reading the men's magazine "Big'uns". Margie was therefore a skinny little chicken gal to him. Amazingly un-PC stuff in the present day media of course LOL.
My personal favorite Insult was aimed at Al in the christmas Episode when he's with his angel played by Sam Kinison and it goes like this
AL: Hey Honey it's me and my Angel .
Angel: She doesn't know you're there Bundy just like when you're having sex.
The chicken insults started because of her legs, not sure how many on here have heard the term "chicken legs".
It pretty much means she has long thin leg with no muscle tone to them at all.
The fact she put her hands on her hips like she did naturally added fuel to fire cause her arms looked like wings when she did it.
Al hated his life, unless you mess with his family. 😆
Shiloh goes Married....with children! Sweet, have fun! :) You should watch the best of NO MA' AM! Also Married....with children :)
9:00 it's because she has long skinny chicken legs, blonde most of the show, and in one scene when denying she's a chicken she moves her head in a pecking motion asking her first husband: "Why does he keep calling me a chicken?!"
I like people that lough and smile naturally 🌹
also the original writers envisioned what if sam kenison and Roseanne Barr were hitched..this was before Roseanne..then Roseanne came and ended up a tamer version of the Bundys but I loved the bundys a lot more😂
I never missed this show on reruns. Its still on in reruns but on spectrum you have to pay extra for it in my market. Anyway I'm proud to say that al Bundy is from my state of Ohio.
liked right away because of the intro. Lol funny and cute
love the 90s
This was one of the Fox channels first shows back in the late 80s to be the opposite of the family friendly Cosby show, middle class family...angry at the world husband, lazy what have you done for me lately wife, dumb as a rock but hot daughter and the son no one cares about including his own parents, controversy at time made it the show many people saw as "anti family'" but ironically became one of the longest running comedy shows of all time
The shame of it all is that this show could not be made today.
Never figured out why people believe that
Sure it could. Now, would the humor land the same? Maybe not, but that isn't because it couldn't be made. Fads and styles change over time, just like we don't see shows like Knight Rider or the A-team anymore. There are still plenty of irreverent shows being made today and will continue so.
@@Halderic your fooling yourself if you think the liberals would allow this. People that have no idea what sex they are without a flash card would lay down in the street.
The chicken gag was because of the way she moved her head when complaining. Go back to 2:31 and look at her when she is complaining to Peg and saying, "Peggy, you'll never guess what Jefferson did" ... she looks like a chicken pecking at something (i.e. food, another chicken, etc.).
You should check out the "Best of Bundy How Was Your Day". The running gag was referring to her as a chicken... the woman who played Marci was a writer and director on the show and she wrote most of the jokes against herself
Try looking at the Foster Brooks segments from the old Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts. Or the Don Rickles bits. He makes Bundy look like an angel.
Another hilarious comedian, sadly now passed away, was John Pinette. Watch his show 'I say nay nay'. Screamingly funny. 😂
Al Bundy is my inner animal spirit. 😂 Also you're a very lovely young lady. Nice reaction
King of the insults 👍
The best insults are the ones with Marcy, and Jefferson laughs at them
You are so adorable and I love your reactions. The song was actually sung by Frank Sinatra, but not for the show.
All the overweight women on the show was comedians and it was their jokes that was used.
Hello Shiloh! Shout out from the US Marine Corps! I just found your channel and watched this and loved it! The reason why Al refers to Marcie as a chicken is because she has the body of a chicken like real skinny you know. Anyways I can't wait to watch more videos with you in the future! Keep up the great reactions!
thumbs up to the smiliest reactor on YT!
Al Bundy was savage. Love him!
Al was super cold. Marcys head bobbing was why he called her a chicken. I loved your reaction as always. I remember an episode where Marcy walks in with a chicken in a baking pan. Al says” Oh, Marcy, I’m sorry. I didn’t even know you were expecting. “ These were the days when people didn’t get butt hurt over everything
I loved it when you said you were "pretty young" watching this show. The first thing I thought was You're still young and very pretty. I bet that you were quite beautiful at any age. You darn sure are now. WOW!!!
I love how Al always went all in on marcy!! They where like the white versions of martin and pam 😂
Archie Bunker . And Al Bundy are my Idols !! .. If more people listen to them. This world would be a better place today.
You got the most precious ANGEL laugh ever Love U with my heart ❤️❤️❤️
Hey girl if you like that try the Martin show starting martin Lawrence you will die of laughter I really miss that show thanks again for sharing TTFN.
If they tried to put a show on like this today then a bunch of women like those stomping into the shoe store would each get an interview where they are crying about phobias, then get on a magazine cover being called brave and beautiful, and then end up with another afternoon talk show cackling like marcy.
Love to see you laugh out loud like that! Your smile looks very good on you! ✌🏽😄
I loved this show, had me laughing 😆
This was when there was some semblance of being a free society able to express itself without fear of repercussion from the spineless cowardly mama's boys and girls woke culture. Thanks for the review!!
Best job I ever had working as a phone technician at Columbia Studios where they filmed MWC
This is when people weren’t so triggered. This was good tv!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Actually in the video you just reviewed there was a brief scene where she was kind of screaming it out or whatever and the way her head was bobbing up and down that's how she come to be referred to as a chicken the way she was bobbing her head up and down like that made it look like she was pecking at the ground trying to get cracked corn or worms or bugs or something it was in this video like I said but if you watch the show regularly back then every show when she was screaming and arguing or something like that she had that same head Bob movement like a chicken pecking for food.
The young lady who Al Bundy would insult was one the main writers,
Watching the sweetest RUclipsr react to my most beloved childhood series...... Already Xmas?!
"Hire attractive woman (Shiloh) to stand in front of you at all times!"
Al is a savage
@sincerely, Shiloh Why she's called a chicken? @2:31 is a great example. She keeps "henpecking" at her husbands. Also Marcy wrote the most of the scripts.
I grew up with this show . Back in a time when people weren't so Sensitive 😂
Great reaction
Now you have to do "how was your day" and "wisdom" of Al Bundy.
