people these days be like: putting in the work so you can become smarter and prettier: NOOOOOOO staying in the sorry state that you're in: YAAAAAAAAAAAAS QUEEN.
Feel like shows today are 70% watered-down from what they use to be trying to get a bigger audience. In 10 years time no one will remember these safe inclusive shows while Al Bundy will still be a legend.
Back when Married With Children aired I was in my 20's & 30's. Back during that time and even in the 70's people respected each other enough, or, people weren't so sensitive that shows like this and shows like "All In The Family" didn't make anyone offended. Everybody laughed and enjoyed them. Sigh, it was much nicer back then....
I’ve heard that when All in the Family premiered, the producers or network had a panel of people to take complaint calls that first evening. No one called in.
"today they played Van Halen - Jump" "i don't know what that means" Van Halen, just one of the most popular bands in music history, nothing someone in a western country might know about.
Al Bundy was, is and forever will be one of the best male rolemodels. I love the guy. He's an alpha. He was a Football QB, had a steady job throughout the series and he took care of his family the best he could. The show was actually a response to "the Cosby Show". The Bundies were the complete opposite of the Cosbies. White, poor, uneducated and funny :D
Well, just remember that in Married With Children, Al gets plenty of payback, plus it's not always the case that he just picks on people. Often they deserve it, and there's plenty of episodes where Al is the good guy or at least you'll find yourself voting for him. But mostly the show is about a messed up but very funny family that sticks together thru thick and thin.
This was sarcasm, irony, cyncism, humor. It totally exagerated everything, especially Al's lines. It was absolutely hilarious. Interestingly enough, "Married with Children" was based on a German TV series called "Ekel-Alfred" / "Nasty Al", which again was based on a 1950's American TV show. So what goes around, comes around.
We need to bring this kind of show and make people grown some thicker skin. It's funny that everyone agrees that this show would never make it today but some many young people watch this stuff for the first time and love it. It's just jokes people, LOL
Ed O'Neill was Jay Pritchet from Modern Family and Joe Friday in the remake of Dragnet among other shows. I may have been mistaken last time, this may be his best compilation.
Ever wondered why men pause before replying to your question, well they are thinking exactly like Al Bundy but decide it's best to keep a straight face and politely say as little as possible.
10:11 Which is, of course, the problem with society in a nutshell. No longer can we simply change the channel when we find something personally offensive to us. Now, it must be removed.
Its a comedic convention....Even when the show aired, Al Bundy was over the top....which was why we loved watching him. Kinda "he's just sayin what everyone's thinkin...." None of us would have ever said the things he said. But it was funny as hell hearing him say them.
10:21 People aren't acting a certain way out of respect, they are doing it out of fear. You can joke around and still be respectful. People today have become so sensitive, because they feel special with their instagram and facebook posts, thinking they are the center of the universe, and not wanting to get their feelings hurt, because if that happens then it would shatter the false image of themselves, and they can't handle that, because they don't want to live in reality. You can appreciate fantasy, but you have to also face reality, not hide from it in a make believe world where everyone is nice as can be to each other, I wish it worked like that but it doesn't, and by trying to make everyone happy you ultimately make everyone miserable, because no one can please everybody. There will always be hurt, and feeling different, unwanted in certain groups, it's the way the world is. What makes us strong is saying "okay, that's the way things are, I could care less, I'm going to be a strong person for myself and show everyone that I don't care what they say about me, I know who I am and what I'm worth and I'm going to live my life as I want to. Though sadly, many people these days have no clue what they want anymore, or who they really are :(
Love your reaction.. You think this show couldn't be made today.. Check out Richard Pryar, Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock stand up shows they did in 1970, 80 and 90's.. They made jokes which would be considered sexist, homophobic and maybe racist too if they did them today..
If I remember it correctly, many of the women actually wrote most of the quibs directed at them, to ensure it was in accordance with what they'd find acceptable. But when people makes fun of themselves these days it's too often projected by individuals who have a hard time telling the difference between personal and impersonal 'observations'.
I wish there were some full episodes floating around online, would love to see some more Married With Children reactions! Thanks for the great video JayShara!
After Married with Children finished up the same production company made "Unhappily Ever After", same humour , but now a divorced couple with 2 late teenaged kids, and this time the Daughter is the smart one, the Son is the dumb one.
Some nostalgia from the 70's and 80's : WHEN THINGS WERE ROTTEN (a parody of Robin Hood created by Mel Brooks), FAWLTY TOWERS (with John Cleese from The Monty Python), THE YOUNG ONES (4 eclectic English roommates), POLICE SQUAD (created by Zucker, Abrahams, Zucker) SLEDGE HAMMER ( the ultimate crazy cop) Have fun.

Instead of "laying him to rest," I think you mean murdering him for daring to say what's on his mind. Crucifying and canceling people who have differing opinions in no way amounts to respect. You seem like a lovely person though, so I get where your coming from.
Especially in the first five seasons, the thing I enjoyed about Al and the show was the reluctant acceptance of bizarre misfortune. Al took it in stride. Him complaining about the fat women said more about him wondering where his life has gone.
Since you don't know Van Halen's "Jump", please do a reaction on that. They used one camera, filmed it in one afternoon, and spent more in beer than they did on the video. It still went to #1 when MTV played music
"Jump" is a song by Van Halen...you should do a reaction video of it....and Kelly's "Delta Burke" reference is referring to the actress Delta Burke who was at one time a beauty queen winner that was an actress on a popular sitcom in the 80's....and during the course of the sitcom she became overweight....a lot of jokes were made threw the years about her transformation. She was thin at the beginning of the sitcom and by the time the series ended she was over weight..they even made an episode about it on the show....she goes to her high school reunion and everyone voted her for the most changed (due to her weight).
I grew up with this show I’ve seen every episode al bundy is my dude. Married with children and (in living color )where the two big shows back . If you get a chance check out some in living color poet is real funny
Married with Children gave so many overweight Actresses so much work. Also, we must remember that comedy is self-deprecating, I really admire actor/actresses that can do it.
Back when this was on the Simpsons was considered politically incorrect. The way Bart Simpson talked to his father in a disrespectful way was even mentioned by the first president George Bush. He said in a speech he wanted "America to be more like the Walton's and less like the Simpson's". There was no internet in those days so pay TV like HBO was the only place to find really rude and offensive comedy like Andrew Dice Clay and Sam Kenison. Now TV can be PC and people can watch anything they want on Netflix, internet, etc. I must say you have the sweetest laugh enjoyed the video.
Its always nice to see your charming and entertaining reactions, please do more Married with children, you are at best with funny/comedy clips and few things are funnier then Married with children....:)
The happy medium you’re taking about I think is in recognizing when there should be nuance. Comedy demands nuance I’d say. Just subscribed. I used to watch married with children as a teen but didn’t get the jokes etc. I wish I did bc now I find it amazing and hilarious.
Married with children was not PC when it aired. None the less ... everybody loved it. Something all the offended people today could learn something from.
@@ransfordrowe6409 I dont get your point. Its pointless words because you gave no examples to what you think is not acceptable or what is acceptable. I agree with that Marcie wrote his jokes on the show a feminist
‘Married with Children’ is one of the greatest contributions to entertainment television that America has ever given the world - hats off to them.....
Here’s the difference, 20 years from now people will still remember married with children and won’t be able to think of sitcom from today
Sam, you nailed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Her explanation at the end shows why participation trophies exist now. I'm not trying to be mean but a joke is a joke no matter what era.

The saddest part was when she said she didn't know what Van Halen's "Jump" meant.
I know.
Yeah
She’s from a different atmosphere for sure!

RIP Eddy Van Halen.

1 of the best sitcom shows of the mid late '80s into the '90s
Shows have not progressed over time, they have regressed.
right on
100% true
Well said
Word.
Huge Facts
" There's so much 'respect' in 2021." Sheeeeeyiiiit.
1:16 is a reference to a huge rock song back in 1984 called "Jump" by the rock group Van Halen.
There's no respect in 2021 people's are very delicate and sensitive the shows of today are plain that you can already know what's going to happen
@Project Sonic X™ kll
7:15 It was always funny when Kelly came in with an Al story. Christina did such a great job impersonating Ed.

as you get older, you will realize....not everyone deserves respect
JayShara : "who is this character... the son?"
Me : "umm....... you're so damn pretty I'm willing to look past this."

You shouldn't

everyone is beautiful, that is insane, everyone is deserving of respect, unless you find out that their not. But beautiful that is just lunacy.
Married with Children may in fact be the best tv-show of all times.
In Living Color. A font of hilarious contributors and also where J-Lo got her start as a "Fly Girl"
AND NOW SHE PART OF THE CANCELLED C
You mean "how shows have regressed over time".
let us get back to when respect was earned
"Van Halen...I don't know what that means"

Millenials
Van Halen is a Rock Band , and ‘Jump ‘ was the name of one of their songs
How quickly things change. From one of the biggest bands in the world to irrelevance in less than a generation.
yeah that hurt bad
