Hard body, soft tail. It is a challenge after all.

You, sir, are just plain mean-spirited... and I thoroughly approve.
But... would you count it as a “build” if our dear Mr. Marling were to use an off-the-shelf soft plastic for the tail? Or maybe use feathers for the “tail”?
It may be a challenge but it’s no good if there’s no chance at beating it...

Try fly fishing for carp! Even a lil 3 pounder can be mighty exciting on a fly rod.
And who knows... It might segway you into doing some more lure fishing...

The fancy little fly tying knot you were thinking of us called a while finish, hald hitch knots also work well to tie of the fly.

I especially like that you are pretty much you in the videos. The editing is good, but you don't take out the somewhat awkward pauses and transitions. It wouldn't be nearly as interesting if it was any slicker in my opinion.
I love the one day challenges, but I'd also be interested in a "getting started in lure making" series. Like if you have nothing or have a wood shop (like me) but no lure specific items, what are must haves, what are nice and what are purely optional?
These have been great fun to watch and it also gives a better idea of how much work goes into each part of the build :)
