The Environment is critical. Not only for the UPSC exam, but for the future of humanity. And that's why you need to prepare thoroughly for it.
This session contains an overview of Environment Syllabus, Previous Year Questions and pattern of the UPSC exam.
It will introduce you to the 'Environment Challenge' and a full-walk through of what to do.
The challenge consists of 2 Rounds that are explained in the session.
If you undertake and complete this challenge, it will give you permanent foundation for Environment from the POV of the UPSC exam for all times to come.

2) Through this inciative, I learnt many things about Environment. I noted many word, challenge of environment. If we will not take climate change issue seriously at time. How it's hazardous for ours me noted it. What which where how actions taken by world it also noted and how it working on it. Some of few word that I was noted Marine mammals, Anthropogenic, Paris Agreement, coastal flooding, Helsinki Agreement, Genetic Pollution, Eutrophication etc.
3) This inciative tied up me on Wikipedia. I was not wandering elsewhere through that inciative. That tied up me with consistency.

It took me almost 10 hours to complete the tast because everything was very new to me, honestly speaking each and every topic is new to me I learned today, I had a big picture of environment as well as I can also answer the pyq with good content with this task,
1.) it took me 4 hours to complete the task given.
2.) this task made me come around many new words and concepts some are these - endocrine disruptors ,anoxic water , LiDAR, gravitropism , coral polyps, incineration .
3.) this session has gave me a big picture formation about environment. It made it easier to understand the subject. Yes. It is a very useful challenge to get a conceptual foundation. It builds my confidence in the subject.
Sir i divided this task in 3 days .. soo i don't count hours , i count topics and i divide it itno 3 days .
Well i think ... i found soo many keywords, & now I'm more confident in environment this exercise covera lots of topics ... like i don't know the meaning of genetic pollution.

Around 7 hrs in first sitting and around 2.5 hrs in second sitting.
The new concept I learnt are light pollution, photovoltaic system and fire regime.
Indeed it gave me avast knowledge of the subject and various steps taken towards its mitigation and as well as it made me understand the dynamics of studying environment for UPSC.

1) I took 3 sittings to complete the task sir ( 2 hours for each sitting)
2) this task made me to revise many points which I have read before and I came across new points like leeching fraction, salination, wetlands …

It took around 2days and 6hr to complete this task. Those key points are how the environment is connected to geography and vice-versa. While doing the challenge some words were repeated on many topics and they are connected to each other (Eg the impacts and mitigations were the same in many cases. This help me to find a correct way as UPSC doesn't want a scientist or very deep knowledge of what is essential that is required.
Took about 6-6.5 hours to complete and I came across a lot of terms which were important but unknown to me like Photovoltaic systems, Thornthwaite system, mantle plumes etc.
After taking the challenge, I tried reading a few newspaper articles and I realised that I could understand the articles better in comparison to the first time I read it.

I was unaware of a few topics like Genetic pollution, Light pollution, Shutdown of the thermohaline circulation, Pollinator decline etc. I get to know about these topics.
This research helps me to prepare my basic foundation for the environment subject. I have never used Wikipedia at such a level and insuch a unique way The whole process is very entertaining. This process help me in big picture formation of the subject.

It took me 5 hours to complete the exercise.
During my research, I came across many new concepts which weren't known to me before, they are evapotranspiration, mantle plumes, peplosphere, rheic convection, Gaia hypothesis, desulfurization, thorntwaite system , got to know about some botanist like wladmir koppen, and ecologist like Eugene Odum etc.
This exercise was extremely helpful and cleared many of my environmental concepts.
