Dylan played in my hometown of Sarasota Florida in November 92 and Dickey Betts played on Maggies Farm then got a very little Derek Trucks out for Highway 61. It was the most animated I've ever seen Dylan, he actually looked like he was having fun

Happy Birthday Otis's I grew up in Southern Indiana in the 60's.and 70's. I started playing bass in 70 and connected with the Toler Brothers and some other great but unknown musicians. The Allmans and specially Dickie was our hero's, love hearing these stories. By the way I'm 70 and still gigging in the great NW. Keep up the good work, brings back some great old memories..
“Dangerous” Dan Toler!!
Saw him BURNIN’ UP the fretboard as part of Gregg Allman’s band at a show in the late 80s, well before the Allmans reunited. He played a Les Paul through a Kitty Hawk amp and just simply burned it up that night. The gig happened on the back deck of the LaVela Beach Club, on Panama City Beach Florida.

I also knew Danny & Frankie( David) Toler..I now live in Paoli Indiana but from Nashville & Daytona & met them thu Gregg in 81...I miss those guys & they used to play on my a few of my demos..Dangerous Dan was called that for a reason..The cat could really play...RIP 🍑

Happy Birthday, Otis! I was in high school in Jax in the late 60's when the Allmans were forming. I witnessed jams at the Forest Inn, Cedar Hills Armory and the Jax Beach Auditorium where various players moved in and out of the group until the final roster was formed. Jax was a hotbed of music in the late 60's-early 70's
I love stories like that! Huge Bob Dylan fan here, and of course, The Allman Brothers. They were the first concert I saw; Boston Garden early 70's.

Both are spectacular musicians and such great components of our American culture. I was a Dylan fan back when he was just a name on the back of a folk music album, as a song writer. WGLF used to play "Blue Skies" every day as I was on my way to "Matrices and Vectors" class at Florida State ... sure helped my attitude, I will tell you. And BTW: I saw The Allman Brothers at Tully Gym, FSU when they opened for Frank Zappa with Flo and Eddy. Talk about a juxtaposition of music styles ...

My friend Casey Meyer, built Dickie Betts chopper in the late 60s and started it up on stage. Many years later I lived in Silverado California years after the Allman Brothers either lived or hung out there about two blocks from where I lived and right across the street from my friends.

I saw Willie , Emmylou Harris, and Dickey Betts in concern in 1977. While Dickey Betts was playing Billy Joe Shaver came out and danced around the stage waving his cowboy hat.

I listen to precious angel for the first time in my life with Mark Knopfler playing lead. What a sweet song. Never listen much to Bob all of my older brothers did in the 70s and 60s.

Dickie took a liking to my woodwind playing one day in 1978, Ohio somewhere. He was very quiet. He and I then entertained two bands in the dressing room, he played acoustic and sung old spirituals, and I accompanied on clarinet. On parting, grabbing my lapels, said "I''m like an elephant boy, I never forget". It was a gentle experience, two voices paying homage.

As a heavy metal musician back in the 70 & 80s, I appreciate your laid back style. The fast lane can definitely kill a guy or gal, lost a few friends back then.

❤happy birthday buddy sb usually falls on my bay 4th so I saw Dicky so many times most memorable was in that bar in bearsville inn just south of Woodstock Dylans old home it was a bad weather night half full I walked right up to the front of the stage looked into his eyes and said thank you buddy your music is a big part of the soundtrack of my life I love you man and he quietly said thanks for saying so son glad I could be their what a moment and what an excellent show

Thanks Otis! Fascinating. Guitar freaks filled the Circle Star Theatre in San Jose . Must have been around the late 80s. The tour was called “guitar Assault! I think wish I had a t shirt. Lonnie Mack opened playing his Flying V. The band was slowly turning on th circular stage through the show. Lonnie was cool , sang “Memphis” which I always thought chuck berry wrote. Then Roy freakin Buchanan I remember “the messiah wii come again. And Lonesome Fugitive. Then, who could follow Roy? Dickie Betts band tore it up. My ears were utterly assaulted. Truth in advertising. It’s strange, never got to enough shows! But I remember every one , especially great ones .

That is now on my wish list. I’ve seen Dylan many times and I had Highway Call by Dickie Betts on 8 Track. In the early’90s Dylan played the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. I was a kid in the 70s, and my brothers would come home and play the A.B. after school or work. I get chills to this day when I hear D.B. playing. As a matter of fact, this happened to me two days ago walking my dog. It was a beautiful morning and I felt like it would only get better. ❤
I worked at Dylan’s residence for a bit in the summer of ‘85, saw him a few times when he was home. A quiet guy who you could always tell was thinking about something important. Yeah, a cool guy!
Happy Birthday Otis. I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan. I saw Bob on October 26th 2023 two days before my birthday. I got to meet Elvis Costello and Diana Krall as well as Tom Wilson that night. They were in attendance just like regular fans. Bob was amazing of course. One of the best nights of my life. Thanks again Otis. God bless.
