Hey you guys, I'm going to rework the last problem in this video. When I erased it, I rewrote the problem down incorrectly. You really need to change those decimals to a percent, however you'll get the same result but it's prone to error because of all the zeros. That's exactly how I have it incorrect.
Right it has to be 0.0175 and the part it will be 0.02
Good morning am from the Bahamas and I’m studying to become a pharmacy technician but am really struggling in calculations can you please be of some assistance please?
@@hassaniaagday335 I was about to say!
I’m taking practice tests because my exam will be in two weeks and omg. Your videos have been helping me. I hated alligations with a passion, but you broke it down so easily that I understand it and I actually like it. Thank you so much!
You’re welcome I’m glad I could help.
It is very helpful !!
I had exam today, I didn't go over my instructor's study material. Thanks to your video, I watched it while I am in the bus. You don't believe this, all the alligation problem almost the same. So it was easy for me to do it. Thank you. Your lecture is very helpful.
Keep lecturing!!
You’re very welcome ☺️
You are the best resource and easy to understand. Thanks for making these videos😊
Aww 🥰 thank you!
Thank you SO MUCH for this video. I was trying to do my nonsterile compounding homework and neither my textbook nor lab guide made sense about this. Following along with your video I was able to get my homework done and get it done right. Thank you so much, I love your channel.
Also my superstition is that if you spill salt you have to throw some over your shoulder to blind bad luck. Idk why it's just something passed down to me from my mom's side.
I’m so glad I could help 🥰
Just want to thank you for doing what you do! I started watching your videos before I made a decision to leave what I was doing to become a pharmacy tech. That was 1 year ago. Today I passes my PTCB exam😍 thanks for your help!!
You’re very welcome ☺️
1. Convert
1/400 x 100= 0.25%
1/50 x 100= 2%
Distilled water= 0%
1 L = 1000ml
2. Make tic tax toe grid
3.Desired strength 0.25% goes in the middle
4. Higher strength 2% goes in upper left corner
5. Lower strength 0% goes in the bottom left corner
6. Show difference 2%-0.25= 1.75 parts goes in lower right corner
0%-0.25 =2.5 goes in upper right corner
7. Add total parts
2.5+1.75=4.25
8. Divide numerator from denominator and multiply by Total volume needed
2.5/4.25 X 1000= 588.2 ml
1.75/4.25 x 1000ml=411.7ml
Draw up 588.2ml of 2% and
411.7 ml of distilled water
Thank you so much for your great videos. I took my test today and passed!!!
Big congratulations 🎉🎊

Your videos are awesome. . I am about to start training as pharmacy tech at my part time job in a few week and I have been watching your videos to try and learn before I start. Your explanations on how to solve the math problems are a real big help to me and over all the way you present your videos makes me come back to your channel time after time.
Well thank you 🙏🏽
Bumped into your videos and I must say, I love your knowledge and the way you explain the steps. I will be taking the PTCB exam in April and I would to know what books do you recommend to study from and the name of the author please, in order for me to pass the exam. I'm 55years old and live in Orlando FL and I really suck in taking any exams but by watching your videos is helping me alot. Any help from you would be appreciate it, as I want to pass for the first time. Thank you!
I haven’t found a book that I would recommend. If I happen to be at Books-A-Million and I see something, I’ll let you know ASAP ❤️
Lord I’m so glad for you and your wise knowledge🙌🏽🥰🥳
You’re so welcome 😉
My best teachers for ptcb ❤
There’s a bunch of us out here, you may can check your local college to see if they offer a pharmacy tech program.
Hey Tech Love!!! Thank you for your videos. How do you get a higher strength from two lower strengths?
In this video, I’m just using random numbers. The most important part with alligations is following the steps. None of my videos are actually numbers used for a patient’s dosage, that’s out a pharmacy technician scope of practice. Our job, is calculating what is presented to us.
@@PharmacyTechLove Thank you so much
Thank you so much sis 😊 ❤️
You’re so welcome 😉
Hello @ 13:59 I’m confused I got 86.15.
I have learned a lot from watching your videos. Thank you
Great job catching that!
I love your videos because I just applied to be a pharmacy tech, but the example problem with the ointments is wrong. It's physically impossible to make a 5% solution using two solutions that are weaker.
These are just numbers I put together for demonstration this is what I always do. These are not pharmacy calculations for a patient, it is only used to show the steps.
great video
Thank you, I hope it was easy to understand ❤️
Ok question on the 2 problems prior before this you added a one where did you get the 1 from because you said if you don't have 3 numbers add a 0 ??
The 1% was part of the problem. It was considered an ingredient. And it was your lowest % strength ingredient.
PharmacyTechLove ohhh ok imma have to go back and re-look at that
Can you go over typing prescriptions. Tk 1 t po tid. Thanks. You are very helpful!
I can definitely do that for you🎈
Yusssss great video

For the final problem you had 0.0175 but then rewrote it as 0.00175
Can you tell me the time stamp? I’m known for rewriting things down wrong. I often give bonus points when my students catch it.
31:17 is when you rewrote it incorrect. But the video really helped me none the less. Thank you so much ❤️
On the last problem I got a total of 1000ml. You added 0.00175 instead of 0.0175. Does an extra 0 make a difference though? Because your answer rounded to 1000ml
I definitely need to take that video down because, me, and my students noticed a few things where I messed up on even though I noticed a few especially using those decimals and not percentages. But it’s ok. I’m going to make another alligations video soon.
pls do you have something for percentage strength of solution I need help !!! Thank so much
Hmm 🤔 Do you mean concentrations and Dilutions? Because they can also be worked out as an allegation as well if you have an ending quantity.
I am having problem understanding the last two stepp of alligations seeing as theres three different ways to do it. would you be able to explain them in detail please?
I can definitely do another video over Alligations, it would be my pleasure 😇
@@PharmacyTechLove Thanks I appreciate it. i have 3 months to pass my exam and your videos are very understanding.
PTCB: you need to know this!!
Me: Excel go brrr
😊
i am confused that how we can make an ointment 5% from those ointment 1 & 2.5 % bc 1 & 2.5 % < 5% ????
Can you tell me the time stamp that I worked on the problem? I’ll take a look at it.
the way you solve is correct but the problem is wrong . bc you can not make an ointment 5% from 1 & 2.5 % but 1 & 25% .
The problem can’t be correct, it’s just something I made up🤷🏽♀️😂❤️
@@PharmacyTechLove 😅😅😅😅
I’ll get into a lot of trouble if I copy examples from a book. They will have my head for copywriting, so I just plug numbers in😂😊
Seems so much easier with the calculator. My instructor said we will only have scratch paper 😫
If you’re taking the PTCB exam you will have a calculator. Maybe she/he means that for her/his final exam.
I will be taking the NHA one😤
Just my luck
Jeez!! You can’t have a calculator? I’d definitely call and find out if I were you. That doesn’t seem/sound correct.
You did change that bottom number by accident right? Should have been 0.0175
There’s multiple problems, which one would you like me to look at?
I got the same answer as well
@@PharmacyTechLove caught this too... the very last problem, when you redid the grid an extra zero was added
You are amazing at teaching I got it right away, I was disappointed that I got the last allegations wrong. I did the problem twice and rewind the video ass well just like you say all the time lol.. I wanted to see what I did wrong but I realized u added an extra zero on the 0% solution when you were trying to make it easy for us to read and you redid the grid. Zeros do make a big difference. Anyways Thanks so much for posting, I’ve Watch so many of your videos.. Love them ALL!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Heyyyyyyy❤️❤️❤️
It's not hard ppl. Split your rx in categories: cardiovascular/gastro/Endo/Neuro/muscle/respiratory
That’s not easy for everyone. Everyone learns differently, you can’t think of because you can separate yours that someone else can separate theirs.
Numbers are mistaken it was 0.0175 you did 0.00175. Last problem im confused
@time 31:00
I’ll take a look...
That confused me as well.
Do you still work with them? Do you still have a cupom code?
I no longer work for Pharmacy Tech Lessons. I resigned 😑
I am insterested.
Check out your local colleges, I’m sure they have a pharmacy tech program. Also check out DenaliRx.com Discount Code: PharmacyTechLove
Percentage strength eq like (w/w%)
(V/V%)
(W/V%) type of question.
Thanks so much.
Please if you have something like that I will be grateful.
I sure can. Those are super easy and I’ll show you how.
Im retaking my ptcb exam is there any books or study guides you suggest ?
Have you already taken a class or are you doing at home study?
@@PharmacyTechLove I'm studying from home. I was a pharmacy tech trainee for year I took the ptcb last year before my trainee license expired and I didn't pass I was close to getting the passing score
Ok. I wish I could talk with you. Please watch my video on “How to Become a Certified Pharmacy Technician”. A lot of things have changed. After you watch that let know what you think. Have you been working inside of a pharmacy?

Breaking a mirror is 7 years bad luck.
Omg, I forgot about that one. I haven’t heard that since I was young.
I like your videos, but this one is confusing. I don't get the how or why. Sorry.
I’ll do another allegations video. It’s all about writing the steps down and memorizing them.
When solving alligations it’s all about finding how much parts of the percentage you need.
Anyone else worried that 0.71 + 0.28 does not equal 1.0
Ohh no, did I mess up somewhere?
If a black cat run across your path you will have bad luck
😂😂😂
U DON'T PASS PHARMACY TILL U PAY $160 WITH THE STATE. PTCB EXAM ON TOP OF THAT 30K+ WHATEVER THE COURSE COST U.
You are not giving good sound information. First of all, you have to pass your exam not with the state! This is an exam through PTCB or an NHA which is not through the state. You do have to pay to work in your state and that is a license and there’s not a test for that, you just pay to work in that particular state. Please do research on your information because it is not valid.
@@PharmacyTechLove you don't have to go to school. THEY DO GIRE POL OFF THE STREETS, ESPECIALLY FULFILLMENT CENTER. THEY GIVE US BOOKS AND HAVE US STUDY. THATS FACTS
@@PharmacyTechLove yes the PTCB Exam is the test you gotta pass. You pay $130 and if you don't pass you gonna have to pay $130 for each attempt. I just say get your pharmacy provision in whatever state you live. Work, study and learn the rx as you go. It makes more sense cuz everything comes into play and it makes a lot of sense. You will get to compound rx, order entry, do cards, bubbles, refill rx, quality inspection. I work in the fulfillment center. No customer service so chill. The job is cake.
I heard if you sweep someone's feet with a broom who's married they will get a divorce and open umbrella in the house and stand under it you won't get married if single and another one don't sweep your house late at night all the good luck will sweep out ..just superstition in my opinion
I’ve heard a couple of those too. I’m not really a superstitious person. However, my grandmother and uncles were lol
the first math is wrong, I wish she could fix it. Please correct it
Hello, thank you for bringing that to my attention however I have discussed that in another video.
Also it’s not OK to come to someone’s channel and bark orders at them. There’s a way to speak to someone in a polite manner.
Don't have to go to school u can work directly in hospital/Walmart pharmacy/cvs with a STATE PHARMACY PROVISION. U HAVE 18 MONTHS TO GET CERTIFIED AND HAVE 4 TRYS TO TAKE THE EXAM if u fail. After 18 months up u get the boot. When working and studying it makes a lot more sense and easier cuz u doing the job and learn the rx, laws, compound ECT.
@@jmiller3579 yep, training is SO POOR! JUST GOTTA BE SMART ENOUGH TO USE COMMON SENSE, ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS AND TAKE NOTES. I AGREE 💯
@@jmiller3579 u can work and get experience apply for pharmacy Provision licence and apply hospital, cvs, Walmart, grocery stores ECT..
@@jmiller3579 that's how it be. Real talk.
@@jmiller3579 it's crazy cuz I work in the rx fulfillment center. U don't deal with customers, but u deal with stupid pharm TECHs. LIKE I SAID THESE ARE FOLKS NO KNOWLEDGE OF RX WORLD. FOLKS OFF RHE STREET WHO CAN WORK IN PHARMACY Cuz THEY APPLIED FOR A PHARMACY PROVISION LICENSE. That gives U 18 months to work ANY PHARMACY PLUS HOSPITAL AND U HAVE THAT 18 MONTHS TO STUDY AND GET YO LICENSE. REAL TALK
@@jmiller3579 I keep it 💯 if u in the east coast look up GRANE RX. That's one of the rx fulfillment center. They take folks off the streets train u and help u get yo ptcb license. When u do pass ptcb exam, they drop $500 bonus on yo check. Real talk. Save $$ look up Walgreens rx fulfillment center if u don't wanna deal with ppl
You don't know what your doing. The new mixture has to been the high and the low. For example, one solution is 1 and second is 5. The new mixture has to be been 1 and 5.
Please make complete sentences and rephrase what you have said, and I will take what you have said into consideration. Also place a timestamp on which problem that you’re referring to.
The question you were trying to ask is this, “You don’t know what YOU’RE doing. The new mixture has to BE the high and the low. For example, one solution is 1 percent and the second is 5 percent. The mixture has to BE 1 and 5”. This is what you meant to say. Had you watch watched the video you will see the two ingredients for each percentage. Also, the end product will be one product not two, that’s the sole purpose of COMPOUNDING. I suggest you take your not so well facts to someone else’s RUclips channel. If not keep commenting and definitely not getting a response from me and my team. And for the mathematics sake, there’s not a problem in this video with 1% nor 5% as ingredients, there’s however a problem with a 5% as the final product. Remember as a pharmacy technician always double check your work and never come to someone else’s platform so aggressively the way that you did. I hope you have a pleasant day.
My comments are complete sentences and are very clear. Your examples are poor and your explanations are worse. There are better videos than yours available.
Well, you are more than welcome to leave my channel it’s just that simple 🤷🏽♀️ I’m not not making you stay. If you have a pharmacist, you can run it by then if you choose love.
