Hi everyone. Thank you for the views and comments. Information about the short: It was filmed a long time ago by just me and a friend on a Canon XHA1 camcorder. It was my first attempt at CGI. The short was an exercise in learning visual effects and world building. It was a solo effort in the VFX department and I leaned a lot from the experience. Hopefully more to come in the future. I really appreciate all the comments.
The quality of this production is amazing. A professional film company would have been proud of it. Don’t stop making movies - you obviously have real talent.
Талантливо и интересно, хотелось бы увидеть продолжение, либо полный фильм, ядро сюжета уже есть, осталось проработать сюжетную линию. У вас все получится, удачи, ждём с нетерпением.
Very cool little film. Sparse on plot, but still makes it's point exceptionally well. High quality job with the special effects being necessary for the story and not merely gratuitous. Fantastic Job!
Gato, I can tell you never fired a gun before or even understand how the working parts of any weapon work especially that of the full breakdown of the Minigun.
1. Pretty sure that was a tv remote at 1:51 2. The guy ran INTO the stream of an automatic firearm 3. A human crafted robot attempted the kill a defenses human who was doing nothing wrong Don't get me wrong, I actually really enjoyed this, and the fact that those effects were all done by one dude AND looked good is quite impressive.
i liked the tv remote :D it was kind a good idea... 2 point i also see it like omg people shood better understood the bulets how they work xD or maybe they shood not :D and ok.. . 3 point.. actually thanks to comment i get some meaning what was going on, by just watching i was lost on the point of movie :D
Great short! Those that criticize it for lack of story should realize it’s a fragment, or Remnant. Even as that, it hints at more than just an all out action sequence. The character is all question and observation, which is good in the hostile situation he inhabits, apparently alone. He’s more smart survivor, scout, than all out warrior. Because his unit is low on power he has to go some distance, vulnerable and exposed, to explore the energy source. That makes perfect sense, and for the power needed to literally disarm the hostile robot, was a very smart move. Exploring on foot to preserve his robot’s energy was the smartest thing he could have done. Also, the nature of the robots/exoskeletons, are unclear, as hinted by the dead owner beside the apparently inactive robot. That it awoke and fired at the man suggests both a sort of war and some autonomy on the part of the robots. Possibly simple programming, maybe more. It’s something to explore in a longer film. Maybe there is a sort of symbiosis. Why else would the dormant robot stay beside its dead human. The role of the planes overhead also seemed to pose a danger, or at least they weren’t there to assist. It can stand alone or as a teaser for a full feature. Thanks.
Brilliant! A perfect short - setting up so much story and leaving me with a ton of questions. In sci fi terms - I want to know more! Extremely well conceived and directed, with excellent effects despite minimal props And I guess budget. Keep going!
I think people should realize that everyone has their strengths and weaknesses in the film making process. Although the film/story aspect was not the best quality, the robots looked pretty damn cool. Let's see what you all out there can do at home with your camera and a computer and no budget!
+BayareaJay you are saying despite below average story, the stunning visuals make up for it when if there is nothing to be interested in why care about the cgi quality
GREAT short! The sound design and CGI are really good! I would like to see this fleshed out a little more and a little stronger character development. Over all...Two enthusiastic thumbs up!
I don't know why there are so many haters. This was an excellent short, atmospheric with very good CG. I thought it an excellent production created on a tight budget. I think you should set up a crowdfunding project to make this into a longer length movie.
Well said Martyn, I've just noticed, some folks can be so bitter, mean and damn right nasty because their so angry at the World that they live in that they randomly take it out on the creative good guys fulfilling their ambitions especially in vfx, drama & filmmaking!
That's the only thing wrong in this movie... The protagonist running right in the path of the bullets.... If it was a real minigun, he would be dead. Game over!
Backstory is always useful. But this video is basically the end of something. Now some beginnings are needed for a full on story. There are bits and pieces that are still operating, whether our protagonist survives or not, and obviously we need that material expanded upon too.
Nice, but one problem. He runs into line of fire when he turns meanwhile running from other suit. Bullets have trajectories, they follow a path and he runs into it.
Fabulous visual effects; really top notch. A nice twist would have been if the two robots fell in love, kicked out the passenger, and stomped off into the sunset together. ❤️
@@nickdouglas736 Thank you mister film maker... I am aware of that obvious nugget of information you imparted however the work was obviously edited, leaving out a crucial portion of the story.
Technically very, very good. But am I missing something? The action seems to slow down after he nails the other mech. Couldn't he have been shown scrambling to get the power source out of it? And why is he wasting time looking up at jets? Bit of a loose end, or needs a little more explanation (for me, anyway).
The other mech had no pilot, I think he was look for any other human not a power source. Now he is wondering if the jets have people because they were the only other sign of life. My thought on this anyway
Hotspur37 if that’s the case, then why shoot at the human pilot if you need a pilot? That’s like going,”I’m dying and I really need food to survive, but I can’t eat this it will give me gas”
Very well done Sir! This looked beautiful! Although I think you should have left out the shot at 2:11 as it didn't seem to serve any purpose and felt redundant, but this is far better than anything I have ever made or seen. What did you use to make this?
+Andy Like Rotazd said very well done!!, excellent truly!. Just one opinon, the part on the wheat, if you use variables lights (intensity and ittermitence like if there were clouds) over the mobile it will give you a little bit more the sensation to be a real mobile, what do you think?. Anyway i love it. and the photograhy excellent too
You should know that the proper way to use a minigun is to target the ground just half meter far from you, then slowly raise the weapon while you shooting, not cover a wide angle with it. :D /sarcasm

No story... nothing really happening... nothing really told... even the battle is poorly written... the enemy have such a bad aiming that even though he's using Gatling-gun and no obstacle in straight open field but he still missed... it looks pretty but has some fairly glaring shortcomings.................for example why would you get out of an armoured mec in what seems to be a former battle zone
His reaction time was a bit slow saying he was pointing the rocket waiting for the other mech to appear. Took about 8 seconds to take the shot. Once he'd destroyed it, there was no one in it? Had they quickly escaped while he wasn't looking?
I think the premise that that some of the robots became autonomous as the enemy was simply stationary prior to him "awakening" it. Earlier in the scene, they had located a "power source" & at the end, you see that robots belly open showing that objective.
Fun little movie. I liked it. Of course he ran through machine gun fire unscathed. Everyone does in movies. I'll fanwank that the unpiloted mech was a terrible aim because it didn't have a human pilot. There wouldn't be much point to making piloted mech suits if they were as good without humans in them.
Nice work Andy. Great CGI / Animation, maybe just try to emphasize how much trouble your protagonist is in by making him more scared when he's running from the enemy mech. If anyone were about to be shredded by a high-cyclic machine gun, I'm guessing they would probably go from a casual jog to a serpentine sprint :) Like I said though, great work and good luck on future projects!
A lot of people saying the same thing. Like , "Just ignore the critics, like they could do any better." or "And for all the critics out there, where's the movie you made?" As if you can only criticise a thing if you can, and have, done it better. If that were true in the least, then that would mean no critical comments on anything. Unless the person making them can do a better job of it. Although...YELP! would be finished almost instantaneously so... that's a good thing.

Yes he is Ironman,Superman and God at the same time

Amazing, well done, great CGL, descent story line, fantastic work.
This had more depth in the first 28 seconds than most movies in 2 hours.

Another short, with abstract plot, nice visuals and an entertaining 5 minutes. What more is needed.
Another 1hr 50mins is needed 🧐

I'm not sure why I like this short film. There's not a lot to it but it resonates with me.
a Gatling Gun with 100+ Bullet Per Minute and never hit a target and Human can outrun bullets.. OP Movie.

for a short film on a low budget its really well done

Well done. Just very short.
This was wicked, love them iron suits, them good old days horse riding Knights.
These short films deserve to be turned into video games
All criticism aside, VERY well done! Bravo! I wish I had your talent. One battle in a Soldier's life. Well done. I get it.
Thats a fucking good short movie i love it ! Well done.
Dude looked like he was out for a jog when getting chased by a huge death dealing machine. Hard to care when your main character doesn't either.
Yeah, and he ran right through M50 continuous fire without even thinking about it or getting hit. Pretty lame chase scene.
That was considerably better than all of SW8.
LOL at 1:50... Using a TV remote as some hi-tech sci-device.

Hey common Han Solo had a Mauser Broomhandle thst shot Lasers ...
Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk LOL
great! well done Andy
Well done indeed! And thanks for not having a young woman inside the other mech. I was cringing, waiting for that.
LOL, same here!
same :)
I was thinking the same thing
me too same....no feminists girl needed
nothing wrong with feminist girls. just not behind you, or in front of you...

I agree!
Even for a short, its got zero story. And the vague plot is a cliche one at that.
Not bad-- very good!
how come they don't make full-lenght movies like this one? these are terrific!
Money, or lack there of.
Surely they can create a great movie !!!!!!!!!!!!

aaaaaaah why do these short films have to be so good!??!?!
best movies ever
I really enjoyed this. Intriguing story...excellent production values...more please.
The battle between robots deserves more.
you cant run from a mini gun...............
It's a storm trooper.
That's the only thing wrong in this movie... The protagonist running right in the path of the bullets.... If it was a real minigun, he would be dead. Game over!
Even Quicksilver didn't manage to escape from mg ;).

yeah i agree....600 rounds a minute give or take? Lost me right there....

a robot with the aim of a storm trooper
A sin
Ok nice, not bad not bad really good..
3:18 he just literally ran into and through the bullets. Dafuq.
oh wow, messy is now a robot driver!
Nice, but one problem. He runs into line of fire when he turns meanwhile running from other suit. Bullets have trajectories, they follow a path and he runs into it.
Yup, he died then. His victory was part of his brains last thoughts.
This would be a sick web series. Great job gents
Great Job. Looking forward to your next installment.

1:51 is an upside down tv remote 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Pffff
I am impressed. A SIGN of things to come
He runs calmly while being attacked by a Gatling gun. that's interesting. any way, well done! I like it! +1 like
Very cool! It actually makes me think of Total Annihilation and the way mechs play into that future world
Dude that's amazing!!!
Fabulous visual effects; really top notch.
A nice twist would have been if the two robots fell in love, kicked out the passenger, and stomped off into the sunset together. ❤️

Neil Kendrick he means this could be much better. And I agree
granted, it could be better. but 'refine your skills' does not say where the fella's weakness's are.

It looked like he ran right through the bullet stream.
And I love the logic on the mini gun the spread of fire was reasonable enough for him to dodge them because some bullets hit the wall. Great job.
nice work, why so disliked?
Well, there is nothing wrong with the visuals from my opinion, but if they disliked this for the same reason I did it's because there's no real story. And I don't mean backstory, I mean what is the purpose of this film? What is he trying to say or make us feel through the story and it's characters? Unfortunately for me, I felt nothing, nor did I care about the situation and the character in play. But I don't say that to be mean. Just like everything else we do, we learned through trial and error, so whatever happens, I hope he doesn't stop making films.
