my youngest son played the first game and he was the one told me to start watching the show. I'm loving it. I'm going to link into the podcast you mentioned too. thanks for making this
Your examination of the first three episodes, especially episode 3 was beautiful. My wife and I have been watching this show together. After watching "Long, long time" we both said it was this powerful story-within-a-story and one of the best written we've ever seen. Incredibly moving. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and observations. Your closing comments were perfect.
OMG that was beautiful! I have to struggle with not just hiding away here on my idyllic property that is a wildlife sanctuary. WoT has really helped me start bringing out my inner Frank, to guide my inner Bill away from being always defensive.
I have not played the game but we did have a free HBO preview and was able to watch the first 4 episodes and it is really well done, I was also able to watch the last season of His Dark Materials and I would also recommend that highly as well
Awesome thoughts. Ep3 was one of the better moments in tv show history IMO. Saw info about the choise of 80s music to represent danger. As a straight man I didn't pick up on it, but the 80s was a tough time for LGBT. Violence and HIV was huge threats .
And I loved that Erasure was playing when Ellie and Joel found the bunker, as they’re one of my fav 80s bands, as well as huge advocates for LGBTQ+ rights. The song choice of Chains of Love was inspired. Literally the opening verse : Do you remember there was a time, When people on the street We're walking hand in hand in hand They used to talk about the weather Making plans together Days would last forever Not sure how I could sum up the warnings and retrospective longing of a world gone mad any better.
@@UnravelingthePattern don’t think about them. They’re not worth it. Love is love and one day they’ll see that or we will leave them behind as we move into the future.
I'm usually not into zombie shows, but The Last of Us is something different. After episode 1, I was unsure if I was going to continue. Thank god I did. Episode 3 is truly something special.
So, I actually watched episode 3 first, and it was amazing as a stand alone, which caused me to go back and watch the beginning. Glad I decided to start this journey! 😊
Wonderful analysis of this special show. It depicts a brutal world, yes, but it also shows that there's always space for the light. "When you're lost in the darkness, look for the light." The light is connection and love. Survival isn't enough. For me, the open window at the end of episode 3 is a reminder to let the light in.
SO why was I expecting a sadistic cannibalistic Frank jumping Bill in the middle of the Night?🤷🤷♂🤷♀ This out of place Self-Insert of the Show Runners, ruined this immersion and consistency of this World. Why have 2023 NYC lovestory in a 2049 Post Apocalypse?

Thank you. This review was very touching and I really appreciate your honesty and openness in it, just as I appreciate the difference in how this relationship was depicted in the show compared to in the game.
I don't like zombie shows, but this is different -and thank God for that forward button. But thank you for asking us to see past it and encouraging us to give it a try. It's a beautiful story that, between zombies and heartache, chooses to highlight the beauty of mankind and, even through heartbreak, makes us feel fulfilled and hopeful. And as usual, thank you for the awesome breakdown video. I enjoy your analysis and commentary a lot. I'm not sure if this will become as important to me as WOT, but it's a good filler while we wait for S2.

The Zombie thing is tired... but this show was a pleasant surprise. Its smart, well written, well acted, well produced and it's exciting. Highly recommended.
When bill flicked his hair back at the dinner table when they first sat down and ate …that’s when Frank knew lol bill wasn’t just trying to be nice, he was trying to impress Frank …

I hear what you're saying but I think maybe you are misunderstanding what this show is about a little bit. It's about love, not saving humanity. I don't know if you've played the video game, but it's currently very much on theme. It's not a "save humans" story. But also, a person like Bill definitely would care about survival, but only of himself and the one person he comes to love. He wouldn't care about procreation or survival of the human race.
