  • Quick comparison between these two products.
    Seat : rSeat RS1
    Wheel : Fanatec Clubsport Base V1 + Fanatec Clubsport BMW M3 GT2 rim
    Pedals : CSR Elite Pedals
    Shifter : Thrustmaster TH8RS and Fanatec Clubsport Shifter (v1)
    Sim : Assetto Corsa
    About this comparison, I never say the TH8RS is a bad shifter. It's a great one for that very nice price. The Fanatec is a little too expensive however it feels better to use.
    About gloves, if you think that's stupid, go say it to some real drivers who use it too for simracing (like Daniel Abt for exemple : • iRacing ★ Mercedes AMG... ).

    To all those who are questioning the gloves, they are an easy way of protecting the alcatnara rim. Without them, the sweat from your palm as you are racing (often for hours at a time) and wear down the fabric, and also make it matted down and gunky and almost impossible to clean. Happened to me with my first rim, now I only wear gloves when racing.

    • @dropac
      @dropac 7 лет назад +1

      I didnt notice any difference with gloves. the alcantara still gets dirt on it so after 6 months of testing im back to driving without gloves. for cleaning im using the Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner,1 microfiber and a toothbrush.

    I actually found this visual demonstration very helpful. I have a th8 but sick of having to change the sequentional. also i want somthing with shorter throw and that feels more solid and like a real shifter. Looks like the fanatec shifter is the way to go!

      have the exact same dilemma as you have, fanatec, here we come

  • @eetuli85
    @eetuli85 7 лет назад +10

    TH8A is a great shifter for the price. Sequential mode lacks proper feedback, but I kinda like the quiet action. That Fanatec makes quite a ruckus and could really disturb others. No doubt it is a better shifter but quite pricey too, especially with the whole Fanatec setup. Thrustmaster setup with shifter is like half the money.

    • @d3tach3d
      @d3tach3d 3 года назад +5

      3 years later the TH8A is $180 which is more than it used to be and the fanatec is only $70 more. Definitely worth the extra $70 for a product that is more robust in every way and for the convenience of being able to switch to sequential in 1 second when driving different cars.

  • @sleepygamer5590
    @sleepygamer5590 8 лет назад +2

    Thanks for this comparison. This helped me decide to get the CSS. I had the TH8A & found it very loose & throw too long. Even after doing mods like the Ricmotech adapter & putting in rubberbands to strengthen the feel, it did not make much difference. I would upgrade to this if the TH8A is not as solid as you would like. The CSS gives better feel when changing gears.

    So what do you prefer? TH8RS or CSS?
    I am debating between the 2, but the additional price of the table clamp (no rig to hardmount) and the usb adapter (no CSW base) has me leaning towards the TH8RS.

    • @kronospost135
      @kronospost135  10 лет назад +7

      The CSS is better for me. It's clearly more interesting about the feeling of the shifter (it's more mecanical, and more impressive). However, it's a little expensive.
      The TH8RS is also very nice with his interesting price and his good quality.
      The sequential mod is a little bad for me and it's for this reason i bought a CSS.
      If you need a shifter just for the manual gearbox, I think the TH8RS is the best choice. But except for the price, the CSS is better (better quality, better customisation, better feeling with his 2 mods, ...).

    • @kevko5212
      @kevko5212 10 лет назад +2

      Kronos Post Thanks. That was my impression of the SQ mode of the TH8RS as well, and that swayed my decision to go for a CSS. Still gotta save for it for the meantime, but it looks like it is sold out for the next few months anyway.

    TM TH8A (or TH8RS if you prefer) is the best choice at the start because is far way cheaper then Fanatec Clubsport Shifter (130€ against 350€ + 50€ for the table clamp) and you can use it in 3 ways:
    1- H Shifter (7+1)
    2- Sequential (+/-)
    3- Handbrake (yes it works fine)
    And after you get satisfied about simracing and you wanna go far you can buy the Fanatec and keep them both: Fanatec as shifter/seq and TH8A as handbrake.

    I don't understand why they can't sell just the plate on top on the mount for the clupsport shifter!! If we already have the mount why charge for another if we don't want it. They should have just included the plate in the rs1 package and called it a day. Paying 130$+ just to have it clupsport compatible is bullshit and they know it!!
    I'm looking into some 8020 extrusion to put under the rig for shifter and more adjustability for the pedals. I'm 6'5 and for certain pedals you need a bit more room for legs. I'm even looking into something for inverted pedals with the 8020. Overall I think it will look nice if if done calculative. I rather pay for something like that and make perhaps a RS1 V2 with even more adjustability!!

I don't care about the sequential function at all, I never use it on mine, so I'm wondering if it's worth getting the TH8 asap or save up for a lil longer and get the v 1,5 Fanatec non SQ. All that great gear but and a tiny monitor. it seems so common. Get a used 4k 50" Samsung, LG, Vizio M series, or the infamous TCL p607/p605 if you can find one. see specs on TVs at rtings.com. I have the TCL p607 I got for used $150 but I was wanting that specific TV for a long time because it has insane specs and has double this Nits in Brightness for HDR than any other TVs in its price range. in 2017 it was $600ish new and uses samsung panels unlike the cheap black friday TCL budget tvs you see. They make great TVs in there mid to high end models. It makes for a great overall monitor which is important and it has really low latency that nots noticeable at all. I went from a Samsung 50' KU6300 to the 55' TCL p607. Another great thing is that since there Big TVs, you can run custom resolutions/aspect ratios through windows and can run ultrawide at 3840x1600 which on my 55" equates to about a 43" to 44" inch Ultrawide which you cant even get in that size with a gaming monitor let alone the price of a good used 4K tv for around $200 (especially for Sim racing you want all that screen real estate). For a 38" ultrawide pc monitor your looking at $700minimum and the only thing gaming monitors have over the right 4K TVs is that TVs are still 60hz which to me is completely fine and buttery smooth. Ive gamed on a 144hz monitor and its definitely better/smoother but id rather have the value of a big screen, multiple aspect ratios, and custom resolutions over a 120-144hz monitors that are really small (to me). Ive been using a large TV for a PC monitor for 7+ years now mainly because in the beginning I lived in a studio and had to make a solution for a home theatre and a PC/console gaming (mainly sims) all in one solution, so I did my research, bought big TV So i coud game, watch youtube, use streaming sites, use netflix, all with my home theatre. After that, sitting down at a friends pc with a 27" or 32" monitor felt so tiny and weird. since the amazing TCL P607 is hard to find I would recommend and 6300 series Samsung but if you can get the KU from 2016 that has the best specs out of all the 6300 models each year even to this date. Its like manuefacturers are making midreange TVs worse every year to push sales for the $1000 range TVs. Ive spent days comparing specs on TVs and have noticed this . Especially with the Nits in brightness for HDR. The KU6300 from 2016 has about 380-400 nits, my TCL has around 600-700nits, and the newer yeared versions of samsung's 6300s are at like 300nits. Even new gaming monitors hover around 400 nits and Dolby suggests at least 800-1000nits to get the accurate HDR experience but even if your not into HDR having a bright clear image that is also color calibrated into the 98% range is really nice. Anyways I just realized this video its like 7 years old and this rant could have been for nothing. lol

    idk for me TH8A looks more realistic as a real shifter and that fanatek yall crazy about... maybe it is better quality but doesn't feel so good when it comes to shifting in ats or ets ....it looks good as a sequential shifter but not as good as a regular H shifter.

      @4strokebloke528 5 лет назад

      I agree.
      I only play Horizon so laptimes aren't a huge concern. So, even if it is slower... I honestly think the longer throw of the TH8A makes it more interesting to use. And it looks the part too. I tried one at an electronics store and loved the feeling of it.
      But who knows maybe the fanatec is even better once you try it?

      The RS1 is really nice for big heavy wheels like the T500RS or the CSW. It doesn't move, it's solid, it's perfect for me.
      However, about the shiftermount, with the CSS, I'm not very satisfied. The CSS is more heavy than the TH8RS and so it's moving a little when I use it. And it's also very expensive for just an option (the RS1 isn't compatible without this expensive option with the CSS).
      But I'm still very happy to have this nice stuff from rSeat and Fanatec. :)

    bro, why the gloves

    • @kronospost135
      @kronospost135  8 лет назад +4

      +legitskateclips Because of the grip you can have with it. It's also a protection for alcantara steering wheel. And for the immersion.

    • @johnulmerRacing
      @johnulmerRacing 8 лет назад +2

      +Roenie You won't be feeling alcantara for very long. It'll turn into a smooth surface very quickly.

    • @canadiankrispybacon1450
      @canadiankrispybacon1450 8 лет назад

      +Roenie also, if you play for any amount of time the edges of the paddles are hard on the fingers as well as the wheel when at the 9-3. If I am on for a few mins or half hour no big deal, but multiple hours the gloves help for sure

    • @Calle...
      @Calle... 6 лет назад

      +Roenie Alcantara and Suede were designed for use on steering wheels for one reason and that is to give maximum grip together with gloves that traditionally also had Suede patches. Modern gloves use small suction cups instead which give even better grip.

    So what this Comparison says if you have a fuck load of cash buy the big fancy one. I know i would, mainly because it looks better and is going to be a better shifter for the money

      +Pedro Chapps I'm not so sure that $199 is a fuckload of cash. You won't remember how much it cost after you are using it.

    Thrustmaster probably works well on truck sims - Fanatec for racers

  • @realtrisk

    Thrustmaster looks flimsy and switching modes looks like a huge pain. Fanatec all the way... I've got one on order, but they won't have more until 9/30/14. >_< I hate waiting.

      I think Fanatec gives almost always a "fake date". Your product will be shipped before this date (some days before).

    well one thing is for sure,, all this that shift or that shift or this wheel or that wheel is going to mean absolutely nothing in around 2 or 4 weeks once the Dk2 starts hitting SIM racers home man caves.....
    There is looking at a screen, even a triple u241h (which I have) means nothing compared to actually being IN the game, being IN the game and not digital homeless which is were we all currently are.
    Every thing is going to be changing soon its nice you have the right driving hardware (I am right now selling my g27 to go up to the t500).
    Oculus rift is sick.

      +Nigel Mayhem (NM) Didn't quite work out the way you thought it would, did it.
      At the end of the day, the feel of high end peripherals beats out the Occulus. Three 27 or 32 inch screens give you better immersion, considering that you have a better fov and much better resolution.

    • @nigelmay6870
      @nigelmay6870 8 лет назад

      john ulmer what do you mean? I have an obutto rev, Phillips 40" 4k, 980ti, run assetto corsa at absolute max settings @ plus 75fps in the dk2, and use a t500rs with maximum performance pedals.
      Will be picking up the commercial version once bookings are open in a matter for days.
      Worked out pretty ok actually
      have a nice day.

    • @johnulmerRacing
      @johnulmerRacing 8 лет назад

      Narrow FOV, low resolution, and you are in a VR headseat. Good 144hz triples give you a more realistic immersion, since you can actually see your peripherals and you have a much better FOV. A single 40" TV is completely irrelevant to the topic.

      www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/3ynsim/i_got_to_try_the_consumer_beta_ecv7_and_here_is/
      also ill tell you not the other way around I know more and seems experienced more I already had triple screen and I have worked in IT most likely longer than you on the earth :-)
      get a great gpu and lets get into great sim racing in 2016. Im all set here, the maximum performance pedals have been a huge upgrade, I have plenty more ready to go to improve the experience, I am also supporting custom mod car creation so yeah im doing stuff.
      Have a nice new years.

      Watch other comments on the video before to talk... It's so boring all people asking that each months... And I'm clearly not the only one who do that on youtube... And yes, shoes can be very useful to have too (mainly when you have a load cell brake pedal).
      Little example : ruclips.net/video/nN4WWJhyrSo/видео.html
      "OMG ! Really ? Daniel Abt, a professionnal driver who drive with gloves on sim racing ?! Hahaha that's stupid !"

    TH8R looks way better, the fanatec just looks crap. but I also prefer the Daytona USA Arcade machine Shifter over the Fanatec. no I'm not being nostalgic either I recently went and played Daytona USA Arcade on the real arcade machine.
    please note that this is my opinion and I fully respect your opinion just leave my opinion alone and I'll leave your opinion alone.

      The Fanatec shifter is an all metal unit, way more durable than the Thrustmaster and switching from sequential to h-pattern takes seconds with the flick of a switch, you don't have to disassemble the unit like the Thrustmaster. The shifting action on the Thrustmaster looks cheap and unrealistic where as the Fanatec gives a nice mechanical feel as you go through the gate. Given my experience of after sales support from both companies I'd buy Fanatec all day long, they have always been most helpful where as Thrustmaster made me jump through hoops as a customer to fix a brand new device I bought from their own online store.

    Le gars porte des gans mais es en chaussettes 🤷‍♀ et compare deux boîte de vitesse qui ne sont absolument pas dans la même game c'est comme comparer une ps1 à une ps4 apart le principe ça a rien à voire

    • @kronospost135
      @kronospost135  5 лет назад

      Si tu avais été plus malin tu aurais lu les commentaires en dessous pour savoir que :
      - Les gants sont quasi-nécessaires quand tu possède un volant en Alcantara pour ne pas l'user. Mais que chacun est libre de rouler comme il le sent.
      -La comparaison est intéressante. Ce n'est pas parce que ce n'est pas le même prix qu'elle ne doit pas avoir lieu. Beaucoup de gens sont prêt à payer un peu plus cher pour avoir un meilleur shifter mais peu savent réellement si cela vaut le coup ou pas comparé à un TH8RS. Je donne une partie de la réponse dans cette vidéo et je laisse les gens faire leur propres conclusions vu que je n'y fais aucun commentaire.
      - Je commence à en avoir marre des gens qui critiquent sans réfléchir (surtout quand c'est toujours les même remarques idiotes).

    150€ vs 300€..... no comparison......

    • @kronospost135
      @kronospost135  7 лет назад +3

      La comparaison est intéressante à faire. Tu croise facilement pas mal de personnes qui se posent la question pour l'achat d'un futur shifter. Le TH8RS a un gros point fort : son prix. Mais certains sont prêt à mettre plus, à condition que ce soit vraiment intéressant.
      Cela fait un moment que j'ai fait cette vidéo et je suis surpris de voir le nombre de "pouce rouge". Je n'explique pourtant rien. Je ne donne même pas mon avis. Je montre simplement ce que j'ai devant moi pour que les gens se fassent leur propre idée.
