Great question, what you explained "multiple lates on current account" is the best scenario for a goodwill intervention to work. If the account is closed, there is no incentive for the creditor to remove the late payments so a good will intervention is a great approach if the account is open. And to touch on the second part of your question, you don't want to remove the entire account because if it's still an open account, even if your successful, the creditor will report their portfolio next month and the account will reappear (so it would be a temporary solution).. Definitely send a goodwill letter asking them to please remove the lates payments with a really good excuse, a solid apology and a promise to make payments on time in the future and you got a good shot at fixing it!
