I'm pretty sure the developers at ID could not have imagined that 30 years later people like you and Decino would be making proper top quality content on the game. As a teenager in 93 - I gotta thank you for making such videos and continuing the great work they started.
This is a strange level indeed, especially the Spectre pit. I also don't understand the cross shaped bridge area, specificaly why you have to first just try to cross it with the barrier down to open up the door that has the switch inside that raises the barrier. Why not just let the player open up the door manually or place the switch right next to the bridge, so you don't have to fall down, press the switch and then ride the elevator back up.
Ive only ever played Doom 64 on the original hardware since 1998. This level was HELL! On my first run, I spent TWO HOURS in that cursed pit, lost in the darkness, getting gnawed on by spectres, and convinced that I had entered an inescapable trap. The level of satisfaction I achieved when I finally discovered the hidden stairway has yet to be matched by any video game experience.
you've just been on a spree of some of my favorite doom maps lately. yet another one of my favorite classic doom maps and probably my favorite in doom 64. great. job as always.
Oh, heck yeah, our first Baron / Hell-Knight infights. You should have used the chain-gun on the spam caller. Great walkthrough on this map, thanks BMD!

There's so much to learn about this game. I wouldn't want to tackle this without your walkthroughs to guide me. Great job BMD and very well played as well. 🙂💛
@@BigMacDavis if you're implying a playthrough of PS1 DooM at some point, that would be amazing. It's my favorite version of DooM. Mainly because my family couldn't afford a PC until like 2001, so for the longest time I was stuck with the SNES port of DooM....when I finally got DooM for my PS1 it was incredible. I loved the few exclusive levels, new horror soundtrack, and the all new lighting effects that not even PC DooM had. If I recall correctly it even had DooM II monsters placed in DooM 1 levels. I could be remembering that wrong though.
That spam caller reminded me of that one Duke Nukem video where someone on Discord messaged you and a sentry drone exploded in your back while you were distracted.
That pit of Spectres in the big room full of elevator-ish platforms used to scare the bejesus out of me when I was younger lmao. @bigmacdavis I've been waiting for this. I have a theory about the spectre pit. Remember those Prima Strategy guides that came out in the 90s? I do think it's plausible their company reached out to game developers and was like, "Hey could you throw this obscure level solution or obstacle in here that would force kids to have to buy our books in order to progress?" This was before the days of RUclips, and I remember this part of the game keeping me stuck for a very long time, because it was so dark and I got lucky when I hgged the wall once.
