Let's get back to laughing at Spirit "Science", shall we? This time, Jordan expects us to believe that technology is bad because if we solve practical problems, we become "spiritually weak" and "come further from God" -- whatever any of that means. And we "know" this because Drunvalo Melchizedek (yes, the guy who also told us about the extraterrestrial origin of a certain ethnic group) was told all about this by angels who took him to see aliens from Sirius.

Jordan must have taken some really good drugs to induce that trip. Good work for him remembering his hallucinations.
I remember back in the days of "Transcendental Meditation" they published a small "news" booklet. One of the things that made an appearance from time to time was the levitation claim. Then they started including photos of followers "levitating".
A few issues later they admitted that these photo were of advanced meditators bouncing on the bed. But this was claimed to be merely an early stage as they worked up to being able to levitate through meditation. I was already sceptical of TM by then, but the whole levitation scam ended my interest it.

Spiritual strength can function as a sort of psychological/mental fortitude. As someone who nearly died from cancer a few years ago, my sense of connection with nature that I developed in my teens (yes largely through weed and mushies/other psychedelics (and a close knit friend group and trips to the forest), just became something at my core that after a few years i never really focused on or projected as part of my identity, although it 100% served me creatively as inspiration - and was always just there - provided strength in the face of colder or crueler aspects of my experiential existence), the way it allows for a certain level of detachment and objectivity in the face of threats to your own personal existence/life *is* an objective function of it.
For sure there are many more fanciful aspects of it i was drawn to and toyed with believing in but my sense of critical thinking and parallel belief in science as a way things can be concretely explained really became more prominent as i got older, and through discussions with more scientifically minded friends.
So while going full on in to believing in magical thinking as the whole basis of reality is clearly a bad idea, a sense of spirituality and connection can very much serve a function , especially in todays paradoxically more connected but also lonelier world; and provide strength at times of great stress.
I have no real fear of death, because i dont really believe anything bad can happen after, everything just ends for me, or i return to the source, its the same effect either way because i dont believe in consciousness after death, and my time here in this life has been mostly lived how i wanted to live it.
Anyway i just wanted to voice a bit of a counter to the sort of sneery 'it has no objective function' opinion voiced in this video and by others in the comments, because while walling yourself off from any sense of spirituality might feel like the only reasonable position, (and easier than trying to square the contradiction of a cold, vast and ultimately meaningless universe and life, with also having a meaningful and reassuring connection with an energy that we all share as one), you can lose something inherent in the ability of our minds to attach meaning or feel connection to something greater than ourselves, and the benefits that can bring.
Lumping this in with organised religion (which ultimately has been a sort of hijacking of spirituality by power seeking groups throughout history) by saying ' every religion just doesnt like progress therefore all spirituality is a threat to progress and should be sneered at' is pretty reductive and basically engaging in the exact same 'us and them' mentality organised religions love to do to shore up support.
Sometimes there are merits to things science cannot directly verify as 'real', or directly quantify the value of (yet).
Spirit science is obviously about as pseudo science as you can get though, and easy to draw amusement from, but i do think there may well be a kernel of truth that it is all built around, somewhere deep within its clearly made up and fanciful bullshit.

Many years ago, a young John McEnroe was getting ready to go to a fancy dress party with his friend.
He heard a knock at the door, answered it, and it was his friend, who was wearingan identical costume to hiself. It was a dog outfit, with bright circular disc on the stomach with 6 radiating spokes.
"Hi" said his friend, "I see you're going as the Dog Star as well"
"Nope. You can't be the Dog Star, because I am going as that!" Young McEnroe said.
"Well, I'm already dressed for it" his friend replied
At which point, John's parents came running, as they heard the loud stamp of a foot, and John shouting loudly.. "YOU CAN NOT BE SIRIUS"
Sorry, but I formed that joke many many years ago when first seeing him at Wimbledon, and been dying for a suitable venue to express it.

    1. Ooo, pretty scarf, Jordan. You have to hand it to the kid that he CAN animate very well.
    2. I was down in Mayan territory just recently, and we saw an ancient temple...of of which the Catholic church RIGHT NEXT TO IT had taken stones to build the church--stay classy, Catholics--but one of our two guides was all New Age about the Mayan calendar and the Age of Aquarius. The OTHER of our two guides was enormous, gorgeous, very friendly, and taught us how to say "thank you" in Mayan. Jumbotik ("joom-BO-tick"). So who did I like better, Marty? Not that the New Age lady wasn't nice, but mom had had enough of her by a bit and I told her, basically all just as an aside, "New Age isn't real religion. They TAKE from real religions, woo them up, and make bank." She was just doing her job, though, on the other hand. They did this super amazing ritual dance thing that the Maya had used as a welcoming ceremony, which is what it was, and the guy, at least, could speak the language and did have Mayan blood in him. He did not LOOK Spanish, he looked...almost Polynesian? Rather dark, rather short, freaking RIPPED, but in a fattish sort of way, too. Think Maui from Moana without all the tattoos, but darker-skinned, too. The pre-Columbian Polynesians, by the way, had been such amazing sailors that they managed to sail from Oceania all the way to Peru, sand a lot of South American Indigenous have Polynesian blood in them, so it's possible that it worked its way up to Mexico through trade routes. ANYWAY...should watch the actual vid, LOL. But it was a good vacation.
    3. I thought Sirius is a constellation of its own, too? Orion's dog, right?
    4. You...CAN...kind of...heat your own body from within. I DON'T KNOW if this is a placebo, okay, but I learned about this breathing technique when I was still doing my Eastern Philosophy degree called Agniyama, or Breath of Fire. Jon didn't teach it to us--I can't remember how I found out about it--but breathing techniques are important in some forms of meditation. ANYWAY, though, you breathe in one quick, sharp, VERY shallow breath, and breathe out just as quick, sharp, and shallow, in equal amounts, to keep your oxygen levels balanced. You do this quickly, and then more quickly. It's not like hyperventilating because you're in control of it, but I've done it while standing out in the snow in the middle of Canadian winter--you know we're known for our cold winters, right?--and I did feel myself getting warmer. Again, though, it could have been a placebo. I never actually did ask Jon about that. I wonder if he's heard of it? See, he taught ACTUAL Hinduism, Buddhism, so forth, not the New Age bastardizations. That's the difference.
    5. Mmm...AMONG the reasons why I don't self-identify as an Atheist 9yet) is because I don't think religion necessarily comes out of suffering. I had a pretty good childhood, minus the medical dramas--plural--and I was Catholic, eh? I would never go back to it now, and you couldn't even drag me back kicking and screaming, but it's the wrong religion for me because of, you know, the genocides? Again, plural. But I think there CAN be "right religions", just depending on how people work with them. I don't know what I am other than to say that "all good things are God", NOT the other way around, so I guess it's like "nature plus good equals God"? This also depends on what you mean by "spiritual strength". To me, that's just integrity, but in that case, I CALL IT integrity. Courage. Love. Honour. Humour. All that good shit. Substitute for "strength of character", I suppose.
    6. Nature is...odd. I just read a memoir called "Permanent Astonishment", by Tomson Highway, a Cree author from WAAAAAAAAAAAY up north Manitoba, right on the tripoint between Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories. They (they're Two Spirit--which is the Indigenous version of LGBTQIA+) were born LITERALLY on an ice-flow, and they lost a lot of siblings that way. Exquisitely Catholic part of the country (this was back in the 1950s, I do believe0, and they said, "If you, like me, are born on ice, and you get cold, and you get pneumonia, you die. That's just what happens." So they lost, like, HALF of their siblings to pneumonia and other illnesses at an early age, but they also talk about how nature feeds, protects, warms, nourishes, and educates the people of his culture, and the other Nations surrounding them up there. The northern Cree were/are semi-nomadic because they follow the animals' paths, so their father would be gone for six months out of the year to go hunt, trap, and fish, and could come home once a week with a giant-ass caribou (moose), and a net full of fish, and Tomson and their younger brother Rene would go out often enough to help with the fishing. But you have to know what you're doin, and what the animals are doing, and their father would never go to the sake lake for fishing more than once every seven years, so as to give the fish time to repopulate. Nature is a dance and a balance. Read it if you can find it, eh? You might enjoy. Poor Rene. Guy died of AIDS at 35. I can only imagine that ripped Tomson's heart out, because you can tell from minute one to minute done that Tomson would do anything for the guy, and they even say Rene was the most beautiful man to ever live. And hey weren't kidding. I looked up a pic, and YEAH. HOLY SHIT. Good mix of blood up there, because a lot of the Cree and Metis have mixed-race origins, especially in that part of the country. Sidenote, it's on Audible, if you've got an account? You were saying you'd like more audiobooks for hen you're driving, eh? Any progress on the Orwell?
    7. Jordan's "theories" about astral projection have even failed my own tests, eh. I've tried this before, an it's just called "LUCID DREAMING" in the real world, duh, but I lucid dreamed once that I was out-of-body and at my piano-vocal teacher's place. I've never been to his place, o it just looked like the house I grew up in till I was about twelve. Nope, that is not where he lives. I asked him during our lesson that week, "What were you doing at, like, six this morning?", because, in my dream, I "saw" him cutting up vegetables, but he told me, "Ugh, tryin to get back to sleep," and I'm like...yeah, sounds about right. It really was one of those dreams where you feel like you're moving your body of your own fruition, but again, that's how lucid dreaming works. I used to know how to induce it, but I can't anymore.
    8. the QUACK is a "lifetron"? 🤣
    9. Hmm...you know from what I've told you about my de-conversion that he's not TOTALLY wrong about intellectual understanding versus emotional readiness. I was mentally out of the Catholic church as soon as Jon started educating me about better systems that make more sense, but I wasn't emotionally out until the Kamloops residential "school" genocide came to light in our news. And at that point, I was like, 'Yeah, I've got more morality than the church. Are we done here? Yeah, we're done here." But I think that kind of thing has to come from within, not from without. It isn't dependent on the Yuga or World Age or century or WHATEVER the quack we're in. It was up to me. So yes, external events influenced my decision, but it was my decision. We don't all suddenly wake up one day as a collective species and go, "No, you know what? Money will never make me happy! Let's focus on people and nature and health!" Wish we could, buuuuuuuuuuuuut...that's me being a naive idealist. And I AM a naive idealist, but I won't shove it down the world's throat.

Also I like the way MGSV puts the whole "nature" thing whenever anyone brings up the "we should live in nature" argument: "Do not forget that I am a scientist, after all, and using science for the benefit of others is a joy. In seeking coexistence with Nature's blessings, not everything can remain in its natural form. When we fall ill, we must be treated. Otherwise that very nature could cost us our lives. Agriculture is one of nature's many blessings, but through that process, we damage the surrounding vegetation. Alternatively, we could say that if a man is part of nature, the work he does is also part of it. What is important is the balance."
