@@oh.sorry.dont.mind.meeeee that it felt strongly believable what she was going through. I’ve faced rejection for being quite different in the past and her ways of coping with her differences made her very relatable for being a fictional character set in the world of Oz. Loved her performance and I only meant it as a compliment.
Her moments of sadness and crying were the most powerful images I have ever seen on a movie screen. The Ozdust scene, the scene where Glinda says she is beautiful. But the final scene is the most impactful. When Glinda puts on her cape and Elphaba breathes heavily, fixes her hair, a tear drops and she looks up in slow motion and the sunset is behind her and the orchestra plays is one of the most thunderous feeling I have ever felt. It was so loud and moving and the only scene that gave me chills!
The way you mentioned every scene that brought me to tears and took my breath away. Glad to know I'm not alone! Erivo and Grande's performances were incredibly complementary and just incredible.
Her take on Elphaba, having built up a front of strength and almost being blasé about how people treat her resonates so much with how I dealt with the homophobia around me in my teens. Only later I realized the pain it caused that had nestled within me. Her portrayal of that attitude of "who cares about their opinion, I certainly dont" while in reality hurting immensely... Chef's kiss
If anyone wasn't keeping track, she was belting DG live, in a corset, harnessed in the air (most singers usually visualize their breathing relative to their feet on the ground), while using her core strength to turn her body in the air, for 12-14 hours without a bathroom break (she said it was too much work undoing/redoing all the layers of costume and harness. And yet her Elphaba is so wonderfully intimate and understated (until she isn't). She just quirks her lips at Glinda and it's everything. She's superwoman! EGOT loading...
She broke my heart in all the right ways! Her performance was so powerful!!!! She couldn't have been more perfect. Thank you for sharing your gift with us! Love you Cynthia 💚💚💚
She better win the Oscar!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m crying again as I’m watching this! I saw this movie 3x at the movies! Cried every time!!!!!!!! I’ve never seen wicked as the play…
Honestly, I know we all love Idina and she's the first Elphaba, etc, BUT... especially as a black woman, I feel so much more depth in this character as played by Cynthia! I just LOVE her Elphaba so much!! Whenever she cries, I cry. When she laughs, I laugh. I can feeeeel every word she sings... man, this woman is amazing! Jon M Chu is a blessed man! His casting was flawless!!! 😍❤️
did you see idina on stage??? you probably saw the tonies defying gravity performance and judged it off of that. cynthia has more room for her character development in a film and with like 6 hours of time to move around in (including part two). stage and film are different. idina performed this show 8 times a week and she created this character. she gave such a moving and intricate performance. her acting inspired so many people, and she put her heart and soul into those songs every night. she won a tony for a reason. yes cynthia may be more consistent with her vocals, and you may think she’s done more with elphaba. but she had 20 years of elphaba performances to perfect her character. (although her performance is nothing short of spectacular). without idinas influence, cynthia’s character would be way different. idina and cynthia’s performances are very different, but that doesn’t mean one is better than the other. i love what both of these wonderful actresses brought to the character elphaba, and they should not be compared! 💚💚💚
cynthia’s portrayal of elphie will live on within me forever. ik they don’t define one’s work, but God that Oscar has her name written on it beautifully💚💚💚
Cynthia is an amazing singer and actress! Her musical abilities are amazing, and I don't think I could imagine anyone better in the role of Alphaba. She is simply charming and glues me to the screen every time I see the movie💚💚💚
perfect timing. I guess by now everyone who's had a chance to watch it is utterly in love with Cynthia's performance. there's no greater gift than what she gave us as Elphaba this year. 💚
She really embodied this roll with such beauty she captured elphaba perfectly. Every time I see her as elphaba I cry absolute tears of joy because of how amazing she played elphaba. She gave elphaba a new meaning, Cynthia you are so talented.
I've seen this film 3 times and I need to see it more; I genuinely cannot get enough of it. Its's incredible, Cynthia and Ariana and all the other genius actors and actresses are so gifted and talented. This film brought me to tears each time I've seen it. Well done everyone.
I love that both Cynthia and Ariana felt protective of these characters. I have never experienced anything like this and I have love musicals (theater and film) for all of my 75 years. My connections felt very very personal.
As an AuDHD person, I felt SO incredibly seen by Elphaba's character and it made this movie so so SO special to me. I've always felt a connection to Elphaba, but Cynthia's portrayal brought it to a whole new level. Cynthia, you nailed it. We couldn't have had a better Elphaba ❤
Cynthia was THE PERFECT CHOICE for Elphaba!!! And she and Ariana both have every right to get emotional during these interviews!!! They're proud of the job they've done making these movies, and they should be. Wicked is the PERFECT movie (in my opinion)!!!
This woman deserves every single award on the planet. I see now why she cried throughout the press tour. This was a masterclass in how to create and inspire generations and Cynthia did it with ease.
I’ve seen Eden Espinosa play Elphie. But I’m still playfully jealous for my fellow millennial theatre kids who had the chance to see Idina. Cynthia I wanted her for a while for this
If THIS MOVIE DOES NOT WIN OR GET NOMINATED FOR BEST PICTURE, THE OSCARS FRITTED UP!!!!!!!!! THIS IS THE BEST OSCAR FITTING ADAPTION MUSICAL MOVIE EVER MADE AND CANT WAIT TO SEE FOR PART 2!!!!
i will never forget her dance at the ballroom... that scene will stay with me forever. i just wanna thank her, it is so rare to see such a talented individual being in their prime. i am so glad i get to experience her as my Elphaba, forever grateful
I didn't think anyone coup top Idina for me, but I think Cynthia either has or has come very close to doing so. She'd better win an Oscar for this and get herEGOT, she was phenomenal.
Cynthia was absolutely phenomenal as Elphaba, I haven't seen many actors who do such an amazing job of understanding and embodying their character the way Cynthia did with Elphaba. Her performance is Oscar worthy!
My girl, Elphaba... for me she's unique, she's truthful, she's kind, she's extraordinary. I love her so much as much as I love Fiyero. And Cynthia perfectly embodied Elphaba's personality perfectly💚🧹
I am definitely an Elphaba because she has no limits on being human and being true self without any help from anyone. As a actor and human with down syndrome I can definitely understand and relate how it feels and how it’s represented. Seeing Cynthia’s human version of Elphaba is just so inspiring and very emotional, it just broke me. Thank you for being a warrior and making me just like you.
I love you Cynthia Erivo thank you for being our Elphaba because u are sensational and extraordinary, u will always deserve everything and I hope u get the recognition that u deserve and please don’t stop singing and acting because u are incredibly wondrously perfect in every way and seriously you are phenomenally insane 😭 and please stay true to who u are that u are a performer and actor and a fashionista because I’m dying for ur fashion style senses 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Sincerely ur biggest fan since wicked trailer came out 😭 because I love witches and u embodied green witch perfectly and also embodied elphaba who I admired from broadway musical I watch in RUclips when I was little and honey u Slayed that broom down 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧙♀️
Jon and Cynthia are amazing. Instead of playing Elphie as angsty satirical teenager like they do in the play, she played her kind, lovable and warm. The moment she arrived in Shiz you already fall in love with her which hits harder when you get to watch Defying Gravity.
I noticed that when Elphaba was flying she was flying to her freedom and for the first time in all her life she was free and it's time for her to figure out who she truly is towards herself without no one judging her criticizing her she is free for the first time in her life and she doesn't have to answer to anybody and after she read from the Grimmie it gave her flight abilities so she defined gravity and Glinda watch her till she couldn't see her no more in the distance And in the ballroom I noticed when Glinda was trying to dance with Elphaba and her friends told her to stop she willing said NO! and Elphaba heard her and was shocked and that hug 🫂 was saying she was so sorry for what she did That was the last time Glinda did a Wicked thing
okay, I'm crying, AGAIN... she did that. she IS Elphaba, and there is NO OTHER PERSON ON THIS PLANET that could have played her so perfectly like Cynthia...
I love the movie So much that I was in love with with the movie nod good job I love elphaba she is my favorite character of the movie and am so happy for you guys and when I saw the movie I as crying so hard the I love the movie ❤
Hope she wins an Oscar for her role it was amazing moved me to tears
💯👏
CINTHA DESERVES THE OSCAR!!! I l LOVED HER AS ELPHABA!!!!
I’m thinking she’ll win. Memorable and oddly human.
wdym "oddly human"? @@PhewzGlory

She absolutely nailed this role, I can’t imagine anyone else playing elphaba 💚!!!
Both girls did
She's the best!
This role might very well earn her a spot in the very exclusive EGOT club. She definitely deserves it. Her portrayal of Elphaba is spellbinding.
Her moments of sadness and crying were the most powerful images I have ever seen on a movie screen. The Ozdust scene, the scene where Glinda says she is beautiful. It was heartbreaking too because she has to do it alone again but finally accepts it now that she is public enemy number one in Oz
The way you mentioned every scene that brought me to tears and took my breath away. Glad to know I'm not alone! Erivo and Grande's performances were incredibly complementary and just incredible.
She really embodied those who have faced prejudice by society and her resilience was so evident in her performance
Chef's kiss
That ozdust scene really captures how she felt building up that front and finally releasing it when Glinda danced with her
The need to be strong when you're really just like everybody else
I have autism and I’ve learned as a teen to live with having a disability. That’s my Elphaba story
It definitely resonates that with me too as a person who has down syndrome
If anyone wasn't keeping track, she was belting DG live, in a corset, harnessed in the air (most singers usually visualize their breathing relative to their feet on the ground), while using her core strength to turn her body in the air, for 12-14 hours without a bathroom break (she said it was too much work undoing/redoing all the layers of costume and harness.

Cynthia, please, you cannot keep making me cry every time. I won't make it to Part 2.
She broke my heart in all the right ways! Her performance was so powerful!!!! She couldn't have been more perfect. Thank you for sharing your gift with us! Love you Cynthia 💚💚💚

She was so perfect in this role! I can’t wait until it comes to streaming so I can be insane and watch it every day 😂
I haven’t gone a second viewing yet and I’m waiting until then as well.
Literally same!! I’ve seen it 5 times already ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
She did so good as Elphaba💚
perfect timing. I guess by now everyone who's had a chance to watch it is utterly in love with Cynthia's performance.
there's no greater gift than what she gave us as Elphaba this year. 💚
Love how she feels her emotions deeply and isn’t afraid to show it
The stunts she did while singing, and the depth she gave this character are a few reasons why she deserves an Oscar for this performance
She’s so good!!! Best choice for sure
OUR ELPHIE, NOW AND FOREVERRRRR
There has never been a performance more deserving of an Oscar than Cynthia for Wicked. Truly, a spectacle of a Tour de France of a performance
She really embodied this roll with such beauty she captured elphaba perfectly. Every time I see her as elphaba I cry absolute tears of joy because of how amazing she played elphaba. She gave elphaba a new meaning, Cynthia you are so talented.
We should thank all the people who chose Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, she really made this character come to life
I've seen this film 3 times and I need to see it more; I genuinely cannot get enough of it. Its's incredible, Cynthia and Ariana and all the other genius actors and actresses are so gifted and talented. This film brought me to tears each time I've seen it. Well done everyone.

I will always say that Cynthia Erivo can make rocks cry. I’m crying right now. I love her so much for this beautiful work of art.💚

I have so much respect for Cynthia. This performance moved me to tears.
My jaw DROPPED during Wizard and I!!! I’m so in love with Cynthia’s Elphaba. I can no longer imagine anyone else.
Cynthia was THE PERFECT CHOICE for Elphaba!!! And she and Ariana both have every right to get emotional during these interviews!!! They're proud of the job they've done making these movies, and they should be. Wicked is the PERFECT movie (in my opinion)!!!
These two deserve Oscars!🏆🏆💚🧹🩷🪄
From the evolution of her singing style throughout the movie to her micro expressions, you can tell how much work she has put into playing Elphaba 💚
Beautiful movie and great cast 🩷💚

This woman deserves every single award on the planet. I see now why she cried throughout the press tour. This was a masterclass in how to create and inspire generations and Cynthia did it with ease.
CYNTHIA EMBODIED Elphaba and did a GGGGGRRRRREEEEEAAAAATTTTT job with giving her presence and sense of CHARACTER to witness
She was born to play Elphaba, I knew Idina Menzel couldn't hold her tears seeing how good she was. She's the Elphaba that the world deserves on screen
I’ve seen Eden Espinosa play Elphie. But I’m still playfully jealous for my fellow millennial theatre kids who had the chance to see Idina. Cynthia I wanted her for a while for this
I definitely felt it, and cry every time 😢
If THIS MOVIE DOES NOT WIN OR GET NOMINATED FOR BEST PICTURE, THE OSCARS FRITTED UP!!!!!!!!! THIS IS THE BEST OSCAR FITTING ADAPTION MUSICAL MOVIE EVER MADE AND CANT WAIT TO SEE FOR PART 2!!!!

Everything about Cynthias performance as Elphaba was PERFECT!!!!
To anyone who's ever felt othered, think of Elphaba and put yourself in her shoes.
I am definitely an Elphaba because she has no limits on being human and being true self without any help from anyone. Elphaba will forever be a Champion for the Odd One Out!!!
That friendship between Elphaba and that goat teacher was really emotional 🥹. Almost like “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer”.
Rooting for Cynthia to win an Oscar to complete her EGOT! **typing this in between sobs**

If you think Cynthia will have the Oscars hands up ✋🏿
I noticed that when Elphaba was flying she was flying to her freedom and for the first time in all her life she was free and it's time for her to figure out who she truly is towards herself without no one judging her criticizing her she is free for the first time in her life and she doesn't have to answer to anybody and after she read from the Grimmie it gave her flight abilities so she defined gravity and Glinda watch her till she couldn't see her no more in the distance
And in the ballroom I noticed when Glinda was trying to dance with Elphaba and her friends told her to stop she willing said NO! and Elphaba heard her and was shocked and that hug 🫂 was saying she was so sorry for what she did That was the last time Glinda did a Wicked thing
She did a good job.

I felt so seen when watching the movie. Cynthia thank you.
She is doing a great job. Love her voice, acting and everything.
She was unreal! Ariana did a good job but it was more of an impersonation, Cynthia truly made the role her own and demolished it!
