  • If you've ever wanted to see just how to build a 14 Bolt housing your in the right place! Happy to partner with ‪@Motobilt_inc‬ to build this axle using their well designed and high quality parts.
    Here I install a 13 Bolt Shave cover (Part no. MB4067) and gain some extra ground clearance by cutting 1.25" off the bottom of the axle.
    Also details on building Motobilts 14 Bolt competition Version Truss (Part no. MB4003). This massive 3/8" thick truss layers 2 trusses on the axle, bridging the truss to the pinion support and skid.
    And as always no good parts go uncoated without ‪@steelitcoatings‬ which is also available in aerosols at Motobilt.com
    You can check out all of Motobilts 14 Bolt products here!

    found it was easier to cut the housing with the sawzall and carbide blades. I kept the cover bolted down and used as a guide. Looks good. I am a Moto Built fan.

      It may have been a little easier and I thought about doing that but my big concern was keeping the cut 100% straight all the way through. With the grinder it took longer but cut completely straight. I drew my line off the cover and pulled the cover and where I put my line I left a small amount of material below the cover so first contact to the bottom is cast and not the cover. Thanks!!!

    Looking great brother, I picked up the Motobuilt new center section and front and back half kits. Now to find a decent frame center section. I can’t wait to see your frame being built.

    Hey man Is a 11.5 inch 14 bolt worth building for a rock crawler?
    I can get one cheap but idk if it’s better to just get a 10.5

    Any issue with the lower material too thin on the 13 shave?

    • @RecoilOff-Road
      @RecoilOff-Road  Год назад

      Nope. It isn't a full shave so it leaves plenty of material left in the casting that will still take a good impact

      its a Benchmark Abrasives 40grit. I usually use their stuff as its readily available on amazon and you cant beat the price for the quality.
